1.   The problem with Losman's last drive is that there were two dump-offs to McGahee in the flat.  Completing those passes keeps the clock moving without gaining any real yards.  It would have been far better to have thrown the ball away, or to have run out of bounds.  This was a case of poor decision making, not weather-induced failure.

I think your post is a result of poor decision making. Ever seen the Pats and Brady run the 2 minute drill? They dump it off to the RB and pick up a quick 10-15 yds every 3rd or fourth play. Gotta move the chains. Willis could have run for 10 - 15yds and gotten out of bounds, stopping Le Clock.

  2. What I take from the Press Conference....Jerry Sullivan is a first rate A*hole. His 1st question was "does this loss now bring you back down to earth"? What is that? To me, that is insulting and is not a class way to interview someone. He's just trying to stir something up by being confrontational. There are much better ways to ask the tough questions. Sully wants to make like he is a top writer, but the top national level writers show more class and respect for the people they cover. At least publicly. No wonder many of the bills and sabres duck the guy, and he gets no inside stories.

His other question to JP was, if he got to see the magnificent way the Chad Pennington played and ran the game. That too is a big slap in the face. Turns out to be a loaded question, as it was the topic of Sully's column today...

He has no class and no tact in dealing with people.

  3. I would take Nate's 7 Mill, Tim Anderson's 0.5 Mill, and trade it for a 4.5 Mill DT or LT, and a 3 Mil free agent CB.

3 Mil CB gets you a Quentin Jammer, marcus trufant type player. Nate isn't way better than those guys. Then add in Tommie Harris/Vince Wolfork, etc which are around the 3-4 mil range on defense, or a very solid OLineman.

  4. Comparing JP to Palmer doesn't help your cause if it really is a misconception.

    I didn't compare JP to Palmer -- I compared JP's defense to Palmer's defense :D

Obviously, Palmer is now one of the top 3 or 4 QBs in the league. JP isn't close, but he is getting more towards the point of being serviceable.

  5. I am appalled at the love fest on this board all of a sudden for JP.  I was encouraged that he had a pretty decent day today and that it was encouraging compared to what we've seen.

However, this whole forum is filled with people who are acting as if he can do no wrong.

Any day, good or bad, needs to be taken into the context of their entire career.  Just because JP was an average QB today compared with the rest of the NFL doesn't mean that these types of posts are sane.

To compare Palmer and Losman is to isolate their games over just one week instead of an entire career.

I was encouraged to see Losman make plays today, mistakes or not, and I think he could turn out pretty decent over the course of this season.  Its his make or break year.  But to see people comparing him to Palmer by isolating this one week is ridiculous.

First, I totally agree with your viewpoint. That's exactly were I am also. But, I wouldn't call it a JP love fest! Hardly. I think it all starts when some posters come on and say things like "JP blew the game", "JP sucks", and "JP is not the future". That's a JP hate fest.

Some of us don't agree that it was completely JPs fault we lost today. Some of us don't agree that JP sucks...and are not ready to make a call on if he is the future or not. So, we respond to comments like "JP Sucks, he blew the game" and is is mis-construed as a love fest. It is not.

By the way -- Eli just threw his 3rd pick in the 1st half...

  6. Show me a game where JP played this well.

    784649

Eli had the benefit of being +2 in turnovers in that game. He also coughed it up 3 times, but fortunately for him the giants recovered all of the fumbles. And, the giants still take OT to get the win.

If the Bills would have recovered all their own fumbles today, and turned over the jets twice, they win going away. I bet Eli didn't have to deal with 35 mph winds and rain in that game, did he?

    It's a team game folks....

  7. No, I think JP played a pretty average game today.

My point was more or less that this is par for the course for a JP-led offense over all of his starts

??? You mean he usually throws for over 300 yards? Where have I been the last 2 years?

The whole offense made mistakes, including Losman.  Not one guy is to blame for sure, but JP should get his share of both the praise and the blame.

    Exactly

So what?  Thats supposed to excuse JP's mistakes?

No, but it doesn't excuse Palmers mistakes either does it ?

By the way, it was true, Palmer didn't lose.  :)

You contradict yourself -- you sound like you are happy the Bill lost today.

  8. Hey don't bash on Willis.  He got over 140 yards rushing.  He the only player on this team that has actually played well.

    784606

Willis ran the ball well today. Too bad that's only one part of the game. He failed miserably in the other part of his game which is equally important -- blocking.

    Willis Grades:

Running = B+ had some big holes today, but still didn't get it into the end zone

    Blocking = D

Catching = C....he caught a few, and dropped a few

  9. Agree...lindell has been money. Let him kick it thru with the aid of the wind. Also on 3rd and 1 at the goal-line, i hate the fake toss to willis, and roll out. I would have punched it up in there.

It was stacked against them on that final drive, with the wind and then the rain coming down so hard. Tough break for the weather to turn like that. Still, JP should have ran on the last 4th down.
