  1. As a point of reference, I live in Lewis Center. I can get 50-75 miles on my bike and not have to worry about a lot of traffic. I've seen plenty of deer and turkey on my rides. Columbus has a growing cycling community. Olentangy school district is one of the largest in the area and one of the biggest spenders.

Lewis Center is also nice. Also very close to the lake. I spent alot of time on there this past summer...Good Times!

  2. Another vote for Columbus. Have lived here since graduating undergrad in '06. Wife and her family are from here (Westerville actually), so thats how I ended up here. I like it a lot. Very easy to get around town. Lots of great drinking & dining spots. Some really unique "areas" of the city that can offer very different vibes (German Village, Short North). WInter much milder than Buff or Cleveland being so far off the lake. Still can get some snow but not nearly the amount you see up that way. Temps generally stay warmer later into the fall and get warmer a little earlier in the spring. Ohio State football is king and it's fun to be in a place that is crazy about college football since I was really indifferent to it growing up in WNY. I live in Bexley which is just east of downtown. 5-10 minutes to downtown but its a very nice neighborhood that has a small town feel to it. Houses in this particular area are pricy but you can get a lot for your $ in many of the burbs a little further away (Westerville being one). Economy is better than a lot of other places. Overall a nice all around medium sized city.

You had to use German Village and Short North??? HAHA..Thurmans is good. I would have used the Arena district and the Brewery district myself. The Columbus Zoo is rated #4 in the nation as well. But to anyone considering moving here I would recomend Westerville, Worthington, New Albany, Gahanna, and Bexley (in no particular order) as the top places to live and the top rated schools. This is always the most important to me as my childrens education comes first. I will pay a little more to ensure we have great schools.

  3. Moved from WNY after graduating from RIT in 1984 to the Dallas TX area. Reason - lack of entry level jobs. Company provided me a huge amount of career opportunities that I still use today. Area was ok, but the level of haves and have nots was huge. Plenty of things to do almost every hour with all kinds of diversity. No state income taxes, but plenty of usage fees.

1994 - moved to Raleigh NC to get out of the defense industry. Really liked the area, enough city goings on while being very close to the country. Weather was a plus.

2001 - moved to Columbus OH as my work assignment in Raleigh was eliminated. Very satisfied with living here. 3 hours to my in-laws in Indy. 5 to Buffalo if a trip home is needed. Don't see us leaving any time soon.

I have to agree with Bud here. I have been in Columbus for almost 3 years now and love it. Great schools, decent economy, 5 hours to B-lo. Tons of stuff to do all year round with camping, hiking, boating, fishing, bar scene, sports, etc etc etc. Tons of burbs all over. I currently live in Westerville which is on the North side of the city and if I need to or want to go dowtown its 15 minutes away.

  4. Fitz and the entire Offense were flat all day long. Dont matter what anyone else does or has done all year, last year, or next year. When you come out flat and then continue to be flat then you will lose. Bottom Line! There were multiple times that the O was on the field and didnt do squat. I was telling my son that the D has been on the field way too long and we had no chance if we cointinued on this way.

Press them downfield or hit the shorts and the screens it doesnt matter. If you are a PLAYOFF TEAM then you impose YOUR will on the other team!!!

Simple as that! Just my 2 cents!

  6. So I called about a month back and got 150 off my bill but still had to pay the Ticket price. Said fine and took it at the time. Kept reading this post and decided to call again today to see if they could sweeten the pot. I told the rep that the last guy confused me and I wasnt sure that I could afford it. He says let me see...Came back with 20 off for 6 months and another 10 off the HDTV Pack for a savings of 30 a month and free Ticket to go.

So in total I saved 330.00 and got the Ticket To Go for free...essentially FREE!!!!!!

  7. Not saying I'm not ignorant about the subject just need well informed advice. Well I'm short enough and have the eye site to be a pilot haha. I've still got big questions, concerns, and thoughts about these three branches...like with the Coast Guard fears of being stuck in your state.

If you are looking for well informed advice then I suggest you talk with all 4 branches..Army Navy Air Force and Marines...See what each of them can do for you respectfully and then go home and weigh it out within yourself without a recruiter present. When you have come to your decision then go back to whichever office for the branch you choose and get the process started. You cannot just go to an office and sign up. There are ASVAB tests, Physicals and MEPS Processing. Be prepared for this to be a 2 day process after your enlistment kitwork is complete.

PM me if you have any questions. I have been in Recruiting for the last 9 years and can give you up to date info and also serve as a BS filter as well.

Remember that the recruiter is there to help guide you where YOU want to go and make the transition as smooth as possible. Any recruiter trying to rush you too much in todays recruiting enviornment might just be trying to get one over on you!

  9. Welcome to Columbus! I live over on the east side. There is a Bills bar just a little north of you off 270. Take 270 north to Sawmill road and go north. About half a mile down there is a little shopping plaza on the right with a play it again sports and some other stuff. There is a bar in shopping plaza called Spoonz that is a Buffalo bar. It's where the Central Ohio Bills backers meet. Owner is from Buffalo and there's a bunch of Bills & Sabres stuff in the bar. No food, but plenty of Tv's, couple pool tables, etc. I have season tickets and the Sunday ticket at home so I don't usually watch the games there but have been to a few. Watched a handful of Sabres games there too. Always nice to have some fellow fans around in a "foreign" area.

Will definitly check it out....can't wait!!!

    Thanks again

  10. I'll be at the Cincy game. I live in Columbus now so short drive, and I still have a bunch of college buddies in Cincy that are Bengals fans. Went there a few years back for the game when TKO picked off a pass and returned it for a TD and Peters blocked a punt in the endzone. It was a good time messing with those silly Bungles fans.

I am in Columbus as well...(Hilliard) Cant wait! Are there any Bills bars here in the area? I am fairly new here.

  11. I know there's a lot of Big ben threads, but I'm not sure if this has been talked about? Sorry if it has. I'm all for trading for big Ben, but not at the expense of not addressing the left tackle spot. I think when it come to left tackle your going to need to address it with a top 10 pick. If we continue to patch work this o-line, the team goes 8-8 with Ben and we never really get any where in the long run.

    thoughts?

Dont need an elite LT if you draft Tebow!!! had to do it...lol

  12. OK so with all the serious Draft Trade talk going on, I thought I could have a little fun and come up with a creative trade that might just happen.

Buddy Nix has ties to SD and knows those players and management very well. So why not????

    BUFFALO gets:

    -1st RD Pick (28)

    - LB Shawne Merriman

    - OT Marcus McNeaill

    SAN DIEGO gets:

    -1st RD Pick (9)

    -5th RD Pick

    -6th RD Pick

    - RB Marshawn Lynch

-Now you and say that's not fair to SD, not fair value....well Lynch because SD has a need he is a wash with McNeaill. With the market the way it is, LB value is way down. The difference in about 600pts in 1st round picks (which is about a 2nd RD pick value) along with the 5th and 6th value put the market right there for Merriman. (if anything we offer more than market value)

-This could happen, SD is looking for a RB and Merriman and McNeaill have not signed their tenders.....it has even be rumored both are on the trade block....SD moves up 19 spots!!! but we get much need help right away with a starting LB and OT....

-This unloads Merriman who has had his porblems with AJ Smith and SD

    - At 28th overall pick we look to Draft a DT

-Personally I think you Draft DT-Price 28th, then in the 2nd RD you draft OT- Selvish Capers, 3rd RD you draft WR-Brandon LaFell

-QB recommendation....Tim Hiller from W.Michigan....he has a cannon for a arm, 6-4 and good size, smart and he has played outdoors his whole college career. (second highest wonderlic score among QB's and 4th highest overall) - You could draft him in the 4th???

    - Overall I think this makes a better team right away and give us more options in the draft. THOUGHTS? besides I'm crazy...lol

While that would be cool I feel that the following is much more likely to happen:

Trade down with Houston...Houston gets #9 and takes Spiller and we move down to #20.

    1. Tim Tebow...QB

    2a. Roger Saffold ...OT

    2b. Cam Thomas...DT

    3. Ben Tate ...RB

    Just my thoughts

    Steve
