I don't know. It looked borderline to me. You have to be Superman to see through BR's arm to where the tip of the ball is; the ref made a judgment call on this, which is his job. If you pause and draw a straight line up from where you can last see the ball, it's darn close and then when you put it on slow-mo, BR goes forward a few more inches before and as he's hit. Whichever way, that was not 'indisputable evidence.'
There is a special provision in the rule book. If the defensive team is the Seattle Seahawks, the ball carriers helmet is the same as the football. Hence, if the ballcarrier gets tackled short of the goal line but their face plants in the paint, "just give it to them."

Good for him. Maybe he knew the Steelers had already won the game and didn't need to waste his time.

Thurman deserved to go, no doubt. He was the Michael Jordan of the NFL for his time.
Of course, with "logical" guys like Peter King making up the rules along the way, what should anyone expect?
Harry Carson is to Thurman Thomas as Zach Thomas is to Brett Favre.

I expect Levy, Jauron, Losman, our OC, our DC to all fail. I expect, due to loyalty or lack of death, it will take 7-8 years before Levy is gone and 4-5 years before Jauron is gone. Then the next regime will need time to rebuild. And that's assuming the next regime is even good. With some luck, Bills should contend for a championship in 2015 or so.
Always the optimist.

They should kick Joe Montana out so Tedy Bruschi can get put in early.

Watched an episode of "In My Own Words" earlier this week with Stan Savran interviewing Dan Rooney. At one point Savran mentioned the bad blood between TD and Cowher, and Rooney made a crack about drafting a certain player because the two of them agreed he'd be a good selection "and they never agreed on ANYTHING."
Later, when Savran asked him about deciding which one of the two of them he had to get rid of, Rooney smiled and responded, "It wasn't that difficult a decision."
Hmmm...
No. And, hindsight is 20/20.

One of the officiating highlights was when the umpire went all WWF and literally threw himself into the pile on top of Grant Wistrom and some other players.
The hilarious part was when the pile cleared out, Wistrom looked at the ump like, "What the hell where you doing down there punching me in the nuts?!?"

It's still a sign that your QB is retarded. Only thing is that now, it's the norm.

I don't know. Ben makes enough plays in big games to keep his team in the hunt. He should get a little credit for that.
Hey, and if the refs keep blowing him for 3 or 4 more years, he'll be the next Brady.
-
Just give it to them.

But, that was a block below the knees. Since Ben did it, it was cool.
Hass tackled the guy and as the tumble of humanity fell chaotically to the ground some (*^*&%^$^#in a Steeler jersey almost got tripped up in the wash. That's clearly a penalty!

Personally, I could see where Roethlisberger *might* have nicked the plane with the ball when he was first being hit. Wondered the same as many of you about the linesman running with one hand raised (as if to spot the ball short), then changing his mind once he saw BR on the ground in the endzone. Knew they weren't going to overturn it, though...
It was definitely closer to being a TD than the infamous "Vinny's helmet" score for the Jets a few years back, but I'll leave it at that.
Yep.
This "all star" crew must have been officiating flag football games, or maybe bobsled racing, all year. That was one of the worst calls I have ever seen. And to make it in the Super Bowl.
Simply surreal.

And Warren Moon meant more to the NFL than Michael Jordan did to the NBA.
Hopefully, the committee will take a dump on Brady and put Zach Thomas into the Hall over him.
-
I was stunned they admitted a Steeler touched Hass on his way down. Shocked. That's how bad and obviously biased the ofiiciating was.
-
That was one of the worst officiated games of all time...up there with the just give it to 'em game (although, much higher stakes).
I wasn't rooting for seattle, but i think they legitimately got hosed....the NFL is turning into a huge joke, bringing tom brady in for the coin toss, and fixing the officiating for the game. And yes, I am accusing them of fixing it, because it was incredibly biased.
What the HELL was up with having an ACTIVE player do the coin toss? They had almost every MVP ever there and they have Brady do the coin toss? Throwing the fans in Beantown yet another bone?

What call went against the Steelers?
Lots of happy folks around here.
-
There was no officiating.
That was just random misinformed enforcement of rules so that the team that was supposed to win did, in fact, win.
-
Yes, but in the official's judgement the unconscious player might have made "a football move."

Well, I couldn't say Bruschi or London Fletcher, obviously.
Thomas, Bruschi, and Fletcher are all decent middle linebackers. Thomas got to a few Pro Bowls and Bruschi got a few Super Bowl rings and lots of "good loving" by the media.
But, as football players, none of them hold a candle to Ray Lewis in his prime, for example.
Harry Carson just happened to be an above average LB on a great defense in New York. How many Super Bowls did Carson carry his team to victory in? How many teams game planned around Harry Carson and didn't worry about LT or Carl Banks, etc.? Brad Van Pelt was an above average LB too.
With Carson, I just think if he played for a bad team like the Cardinals, Bucs, or Falcons of the day, very few fans would remember him at all.
