  1. Wing- Great point, I never thought of it like that. Since, Bruce, Andre,Kelly andthe boys, we have not had that in a long time. Something else just came to my mind. Like the Sabres, the past 6/7 years have been boring in a sense that real playmakers have not been on the team. Besides Willis and maybe TKO, what fan would buy a Bills jersey????? They only buy Willis for the whole U thing anyways. Vernon would sell a bunch of jerseys.
  2. Trying to decide at the moment. My wife and I will be working for CMS ( we are both teachers) Like everyone else, Ballentyne is our first choice, but it is certainly more expensive. We kinda like Huntersville but we hear traffic is awful. If you can share your experiences about locations, that would be great. All in all, we are looking for an inexpensive mortgage( cost of living in Florida has killed us the past few years and is part of the reason for this move). We pray we get lucky and find dynamite neighbors in a family friendly area - on the guy side, I looking for great golf and softball without the headaches of being stuck in traffic. Good schools and quality neighborhood for my son is of course most important. Write back Doug
  3. If he watches the games and is a fan, send him my email or send me his address. my email is Hugebillsfan1@yahoo.com Charlotte is amazing, bring your clubs, the golf is perfect this time of year. I think you mentioned golf in previous posts. Doug
  4. I am sorry Ramius!!!!!! This is what I hear from my Buffalo friends every week while we watch the games. " Buffalo is a city of chokers and we will never win anything." I am not rooting for this team ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. My family and I will be leaving the sunshine state for good this summer and heading to Charlotte, NC. This is a going to be a great move for us with more financial freedom and a higher quality of life for my son Dylan. One things that scares me about moving is leaving my 12 buddies (Bills fans) in Tampa. We get together each week to watch the Bills/Sabres games and now I will be on my own each Sunday. If you live in Charlotte or South Carolina and know of any Bills bars, please write back and let me know. I truly need a new group to watch the games with and would like to have a place in mind before our June move. Thanks in advance. Doug
  6. 1. In reading the News today, I feel more comfortable that steps will be taken to keep this team in Buffalo for a decent length of time. 2. Am I the only person who thinks the way the Bills are communicating team information, is really poor? The time delays and comments they make seem to cause the national media to laugh at us. From the hiring of Coach Jauron, Marv, The Moulds situation and now the issue of them leaving the area. In the past, I felt they did a much better job and did not air their dirty laundry so openly. 3. They won't do it, but Vernon Davis could make this team so much fun to watch for many years to come. To me anyways, this type of pick is not Marv's style. 4. Thank you to those on this board who post intelligent thoughts and wishes for this team. The team is making some interesting and frustrating moves, but let's not forget that this is our beloved team and these awful negative posts by some members are turning off many to this board. (myself included) 5. For those of you out of the area, consider buying a season ticket if you have the money. I am moving from Florida to Charlotte this summer and I plan to buy 2 seats simply to help support the cause. I love this team and the thought of them leaving, gives me the sickest feeling in my stomach. 6. Thank you to this team and most of you for helping me to stay up to date on team information, Sabres stuff and stuff about Buffalo in general. 7. This site has become such a daily activity, I hope it doesn't go away. 8. "God Bless Our Bills" - may you never leave our fine town. Doug in Clearwater, Florida
  7. Lawnboy, They virtually show every Sabres game. You can also tape. I go out of my way to catch all the games. I forget most people do not care as muchh as I do. Go Sabres!!!
  8. Hey NC fan, Can you email me at Hugebillsfan1@yahoo.com? My wife and I are moving to Charlotte this summer and have a bunch of questions about the area. Thanks Doug
  9. This message goes out to all of you Buffalo fans who have ignored the Sabres for many years. You are missing what could be a very special season. This team is fast, hard working and fun to watch. All of the youth Darcy has put together is finally jelling. Many of you out of towners, complain about how you can only see the team, when they come to your new town. Wake up! Buy Center Ice from DirecTV. For $129.00 you get to see every game. For those of you on a tight budget, don't reply, I get it. There are still plenty of you out there who spend that much in a weekend at the bar. My point, rally behind this team. Buy the tickets, shirts, hats and lets start talking about the Sabres again. The Bills are bad right now and this season is lost. Spend time cheering on the Blue and Gold. For those of you in the Buffalo area, you should be ashamed of yourselves. That arena is half empty most nights and they are basically giving away tickets with those low prices. Not everyone in Buffalo is poor. Once again, no responses from those with limited incomes. Get off your wallets and get to the stadium. In my opinion, we are blessed to have a team in that awful town - get out and support them. We are finally a good team again, get involved and lets enjoy winning again!!!! Lets Go Buffalo!!!!!!! - sing it with me Lets Go Buffalo!!!!!
  10. Thank you for all those responses. First, in response to why not WNY?? - The answer is drive down Walden Avenue. Drive down Bailey and drive down Genesee Street. It sickens me to see what has become of our home. The high taxes, high rate of poverty, run down, dated neighborhoods, my wife would be miserable. The morale is at it's lowest point and it's not exciting to live in Buffalo anymore. Once you live in a warm, modern city with growth, Buffalo is hard to accept. I wish the city could rebound, but i think it is done. I still love the place. Fly home often for games and read the News daily online. I moved back for one school year in 2000 and after being back 6 months, I wanted to cry, I couldn't wait to leave. Last week I was in town for the KC game and was helping a buddy move from Cheektowaga, I couldn't help but think that if forced to live in Cheektowaga, it would be like a death sentence. - true story ( my exact thoughts) In regards to coast or no coast, the answer is no coast. Mostly for the hurricanes and second because of high home costs. What am I in search for in a location? I want a nice 2 story brick home in a safe, well manicured neighborhood, surrounded by hard working decent couples and tons of little kids. Priced around 200k. For my son, I want decent schools without overcrowding and fear of violence. I am also looking for an area where real estate is still generating nice annual returns. I also hope to move to a neighborhood with nice families and a Bills bar in close proximity. All else is negotiatable.
  11. My wife and I are considering a move to either North or South Carolina. We have lived in Florida for many years, but it is simply too expensive. With the high cost of childcare, high home prices, risk of hurricanes and low income, the sunshine state is no longer manageable for my family. We have made several smart home purchases, so we could probably almost pay cash for a home or have a small mortgage on something around 200k. My question for all of you, please name some nice towns in either of the Carolinas which are growing, affordable and family friendly. We prefer a nice suburb with young families. Also for all you members who live in Carolina, please email if you could I have a bunch of questions. My email is Hugebillsfan1@yahoo.com Thanks Doug
  12. I did coach last year - boys and girls golf. I received $1000 for running 2 teams - $650 after taxes for coaching 2 teams. I coached 5 nights per week and that included many late evening dinners with my players for a grand total of $650!!!!!!!!!!!! Florida coaching is a joke. Pharmacy sales I think are not available. I will gladly look into things though.
  13. Thanks again for all your responses. Leaving Florida is always an option, but once you get use to this lifestyle and warm weather it is really hard to leave. I, like so many others is often never satisfied. In all honesty, I should be happy as hell to have a home skyrocketing in value and 2 jobs that are both pretty cool. I often see my other friends doing even better and it pisses me off. My wife also makes 50 - 70 per hour doing private speech therapy for little ones. I just wish I could have one job that pays well and that does not require me to work 7 days per week. When I step back and look at how many other people are making it work on much less. I should just shut up and be happy.
  14. As I read all of your responses, I am almost in tears. My six month old is sitting indian style in front of me on my computer desk for the first time. I must return to the car lot at 6:00pm and I hate to have to leave him. I am so motivated to make money that I find all I can think of is the next sale. Each near miss or customer who promises to come back and doesn't absolutely ruins my day. I thank all of you for your thoughts. In closing I must say teaching is great , but it is hard when you can barely make a living doing it. Thanks and Go Bills!!!!!!!!!!! Doug in Florida
  15. I am currently a high school teacher in Clearwater, Florida. I have been teaching for the last 12 years and i am thinking about a change. I am at a great school and everything about my job is top notch, except the pay. I recently started selling cars parttime for Carmax. In my first month, I made almost 2k. I can't help but think about the idea of possibly switching careers. I do not know which product I would like to sell or how would you even get involved in finding that out. I have several questions I need answered. Where would you seek out good sales jobs?? Does my limited experience selling used cars really help me?? Any information or plain wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Doug in Clearwater,Florida
  16. Do not wish to give them up at all. I am kinda like a little kid who wants his Bills fix early like a nice September or October game. Trying to find decent upper deck tickets to any early game and they are not to be found. Only thing I see is lower endzone tickets for double the face value on Ebay.
  17. I have 4 nice seats for Denver will sell or trade. Email me at Hugebillsfan1@yahoo.com Doug in Clearwater
  18. Hey Guys, Thanks to my friend Floemoe, I have 4 tickets for the Denver game on 12/17. They are in 336 row 16, Bills side. I was hoping to swap those 4 for an earlier game.I would like to swap 4 seats for 4 seats. I will be in Buffalo this summer or we can make other arrangements to exchange the tickets. I wish to go to a game with my dad and he won't be able to go in December as he is elderly. He currently lives in Cheektowaga, so it will be easy to exchange tickets. My email is Hugebillsfan1@yahoo.com if you can switch with me.
  19. I live in Clearwater and hear is what i know. I called the Buce yesterday. They have 3k tickets for group sales. They are 140 or 189 per person. For 140 per ticket you get a tailgait party and a corner ticket lower endzone, second level or a high upper. There is info on the Bucs web site. The 189 package requires a group of 50. I have a scalper dude I know who is charging 75 for so so uppers and 125 - 175 for decent lower bowl. I am buying good uppers from him for 90. Currently no tickets on ebay. Friends claim there will be plenty of scalps out there, but with Tampa being like South Buffalo. I know it will be tough. any questions email me
  20. Maybe just the city is bad. The drug dealing is bad and all the houses are old and dirty. For those of you in the nice section of town near Delaware Park save your comments. I realize there are pockets of nice areas but the majority is gross and dirty.
  21. Each morning at 9:00am I read the am edition of the news online. The last few months I have noticed so many more stories about gangs, drugs, fighting and a million other illegal activities. Even when you read about the suburbs, there is plenty of negative stuff going on lately. With all the poverty and job loss, it makes sense, however it is hard to read each day. Our fair city is now a shell of what it use to be and I wish it was different. Having grown up away from that kinda stuff, I am not use to it. For those of you out there, am I way off?? What is it like in other cities of the same size and economic climate? Are the problems I keep reading about normal or excessive? You opinions are much appreciated. In Clearwater, there is a ton of crime, however rising property values and nice weather seem to hide a lot of it.
  22. While visiting the area this past weekend, I had the pleasure of purchasing some new Bills stuff from Stadium Sportswear which is next to the 7 eleven on Abbott Road near the stadium. I will never pay stadium or even internet prices again. The owner is a real good guy and the prices are great. He has many cool items not found in many of the stores. Several months ago, he sent me several items through the mail and the transaction went very smooth. This is a great place when you need to update your Bills duds. His number is 1 716 418 6367. His prices are even better now that it is the offseason. Happy shopping!!!!!! PS. Even some of the Bills players buy jerseys from him. Take care Doug in Clearwater www.stadiumsportswear.com
  23. How can a team that is 48 - 12 not have a home sellout since 2001????? I read this in an article this morning in a Rochester paper. They said that there were 900 tickets avaialble for tonights game. How can a first place team not sell out a Friday night home game. At 48 - 12, the rest of the regular season should be sold out. As Sabre fans, what more do the locals want??????????? The tickets are inexpensive and the games are great. If I am off with this information, can one of the locals fill me in on the correct information. Bettman settle the strike, watching basketball is making me sick to my stomach!!!!!!! Doug in Clearwater, Florida
  24. There is something so likeable about this kid. When he speaks,he seems so young and innocent, like a kid just happy to be with the team. Like most of you, I saw his pre draft interviews where he complained on ESPN about where he ranked compaired to Rivers,Manning and Big Ben. At the time, I thought please Buffalo, do not draft him. Now, I coudn't be happier with TD's decision. I would rather go to war with this kid then stone legs Bledsoe. I hope we bring Marcus Pollard, Shelton and for some weird reason Chris Hovan. How many of you think TD is laying low this year because next year we have so many guys to sign?????? There has to be a reason other then let's do what the Patriots do!!!!!!!!!
  25. I often live in the past about Buffalo sports, but my Sabres memories are still strong and awesome to me. The feeling of walking up to the Aud on a warm spring night for a playoff game. The loud chants of Let's Go Buffalo!!!!! stronger and stronger with each chant, everyone high fiving and being proud to be a fan and even more proud to be from Buffalo. Countless nights listening to Rick Jennerett(sp???) call games on the radio during many snowwy winter nights. Ted Darling the voice of the Sabres doing all the play by play for all those playoff games in the 80's vs Montreal, Boston and Quebec. Mogilny and Patty and Sneaky Pete even the boring hasek years when we only won each game 2 -1 and we were outshot 50 - 17 I guess I just wish more of you loved the team like I still do. The Sabres side of this board would be a lot more interesting. Living in the past in Clearwater
