  1. There is zero comparison between those two - Peters was whining for a new contract with 2 years remaining, remember??

You missed my point...IF we had extended Levitre 2 years ago like in machine gun kelly's post, we very well could have ended up in the same situation as we did with Peters...disgruntled player with 2 years left on his deal holding out. I was not comparing Peters situation to Levitre's actual situation this year.

  2.

Now the mistake was in Nix not offering him not last year, but two years ago when he played well and durable for two years an extension cheap at 3 mil. and we could have locked him up for two years. He was very serviceable, and at 3-3.5 mil for four years, it would have been steal for us and he wold have been ecstatic. We have not been a forward thinking team which is why we keep losing.

We tried that approach with Jason Peters. He got fat, lazy, and held out wanting more money. It was a good move trading him.

Maybe Levitre would have been fine living out the extension you proposed, maybe he whines like Peters did. We'll never know now. I'd be pissed if we had re-signed him for 7 or 8 M a year. Too many memories of him him being forklifted/thrown straight back into the QB. He is durable and played well enough at C and LT when asked, but TEN is nuts for paying him that much.

After the draft there will be a few players released as well. With only 6 picks in the draft, it seems like they HAVE to do something at WR in free agency for some depth. And I assume they are drafting a WR in the first 3 or 4 rounds.

  3. Which almost for sure means we are out for Geno Smith, correct?

It doesn't look like Geno will be there at 8 to me, unless OAK trades out of the #3 spot. If he is I'd still take him. If he's gone we don't need to reach for Barkley or anyone else. I'd rather take my chances with with Tyler Wilson or Nassib in the 2nd if that's the case.

  4. Meh this anti Geno Smith talk makes me laugh, The guy is still very accurate, extremely productive, passes the eye test, Has plenty of arm, lives in the film room, loves the game kind of guy

If Tannenhill was worth #8 for Miami last year, then Geno Smith is more then worthy of #8.

IMO the only reason he is not going higher in this draft is the level of talent at OT DE, CB at the top of this draft is superior, but for a team in need of a young QB like Buffalo at #8 this is a great place to pick him up. No different then Miami last year and Tannenhill.

but in a draft deep at a multitude of positions liek DL, OL, WR LB and the fact that the Jets are going to have lots of holes to fill do they really want to give up those picks

I don't think they would do this IMO

I agree on all counts. I don't think OAK will go QB in the first, ARI possibly. I can't see anyone trading up for a shot at Geno...

  5. He's been borderline great for quite some time, but at his age and reported contract demands (12mil per), I can see the Bills passing. One has to question how much he's going to play too.

Agreed. No way they sign Abraham. Mincey is much more likely...

  6. You didn't miss much. They started off the coverage with the Bills up 17-0. Pizzed me off.:wallbash:

Just in case, you may want to start your dvr a half hour earlier. NFLN may be off a half hour from their scheduled programming..

It was originally scheduled to start at 4:00PM Eastern yesterday, but they moved it up to 3:00PM.
