  1. Nothing like a good ole' fashioned argument with a Pats troll to pass the preseason away.  All we're missing now is a bet, where SDS can piss away numerous hours looking through the archives for some meaningless post.

Bad bad, mentioning that bet, just going to stir up a lot of trouble

    I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Yeah, as much as I hate the idea of it, the Jets will be solid solid team this year, and they have improved on a team that handled itself well in the playoffs last year.

Eveyone rags on Pennington because his arm isn't very strong, but he's very accurate and relatively poised.

People should spend more time paying attention to what Hollywood Donahoe posts and not just dismiss him out of hand....He is one of the few who knows what he is talking about.

  3. It is a shame that you are not able to enjoy the warm regards that we have towards your co-worker (boss).  The fact that we kept a most important day in his life alive for months and months and months should have warmed your cockles.

Please note the key words in your post....co-worker (boss). And you wonder why my cockles were not warmed just the pain in my ass??? :

  4. Damn, I wish I was here for the NG birthday thread... what went so wrong with it?

Steve, I work with NG and see him every day...trust me when I tell you this, we do not need to gratify his ego anymore....Whenever NG finds a journal that cites one of his papers he carries it around for days to show everybody...happy Birthday NG indeed

  5. I was in Buffalo this weekend for an interview at Geico. I applied last week, got a call the next day, so decided to fly home this weekend (I just landed back in WPB an hour ago). Anyway, had an hour long interview on Saturday morning. Then came back and had a THREE hour interview today. And right on the spot they offered me the job (as an underwriter). It's not in my field of Marketing, but they pay is surprisingly good, I get a 10% discount on my Car insurance, and the health and dental benefits start the FIRST day you start to work.  Anyway, just a bit excited as it just so happens the day I start and the day I leave Florida are 4 days apart (including a weekend). I will miss two days of work during the entire move.

You can send your congrats in the form of cash..

   ;) ;)

    Congratulations Steve, good news.

  6. Cåbleladies???

Cåblelady is singular event like birth of universe.  The expression does not have a plural!

P.S. While you are standing up, probably on seats due to tall people in row ahead of you, the guys behind you will be getting butts-eye view but from a much closer view!    :D

Always nice to see a new post from Mr. Host, how has everything been going for you Glen?

  7. Today's dentists have a lot of good ways to stop pain when performing their procedures. I, like you, had a lot of dental phobia and avoided the dentist for a long time. Finally my boss went ahead and forced me to see her dentist.

This guy was great and I became very relaxed with both him and the hygentist. He had to redo all my childhood dental work (my childhood dentist was so bad that he made me phobic) and I never felt one bit of pain.

He also made a nightguard for me since I had started to grind my teeth in my sleep which helped allieviate a lot of pain for me.

One thing that you might want to consider, is do some self systematic desentization, try imaging yourself in the dentist chair while placing yourself in a relaxed state, that should lower some of the anxiety.

Or do as Vonnegut suggested in Slaughter House Five, and just concentrate on happy thoughts while going through the procedure.

But, with the painkillers they got now, I don't think you will have any problems at all.

  8. T-Bone, you as big of a fan of "House" as I am? What a great show. Dr. House is such a prick... that's my favorite part...  it's kind of like CSI for a hospital show in the way they try to figure out what each patient has... good stuff.

Yes, I agree with you Steve and that is what makes it a cut above other medical dramas...Hugh Laurie is a very talented actor and plays the part perfectly.

  9. I watched the last ten minutes of American Idol, while waitng for House to start.

What exactly is the appeal of this show, I really do not get it. And whoever wins, signs the next five years of their life away to AI, are these guys even popular?

Just don't get it at all.
