field position is killing us?
Try not getting sacked and going forward instead doofus

So yes, 2nd round would have been too early.
-
For those lamenting that TJ was taken too soon, you should look no further than NE's pick in the 2nd round. He was off many board completely, but there were the Pats taking him where they did.
It's easy to say so-and-so will be there later in the draft, but unless you have secret video into every war room in the league, you can never be sure what another team is really thinking.
One think I'd love to see is a Wikipedia page that goes over Kiper's (or any other "expert's") mocks over the last 10-20 years and see how right, or wrong they really were. So many people glace at someone else's research and somehow that makes you an expert.
If you don't trust the Bills brass, just say so and stop citing details that you really don't understand anyway. Taller does not mean better (ask Welker, or Steve Smith). Faster does not necessarily mean better (ask Jerry Rice). You've not met the kid. You've not watched him in practice, so stop acting like you know what you're talking about.

Why is Pitt negative?
I read into that clip that Decastro going to THAT team ticks off everyone else. He should have gone earlier, so it's bitterness that the rich get richer. Similarly, Detroit getting Reiff makes them that much scarier.
Those are my takes on it at least.

What this tells me is that people shouldn't get hung up on taking the "10th rated guy" (as if this was written on tablets brought down from Mount Sinai) at the 10th pick as, in actuality, the 7th through 20th rated guys are interchangable from a "value" perspective.
The focus should be on who can play/contribute/fit the scheme most effectively, rather than maximizing "draft value," which is media-driven (ESPN/Kiper) concept....
IF you cannot find a trade partner, then I agree that picking production, over potential at the time is prudent, but using the idea of the draft value system by trading picks is underutilized by GM's. I think NE is the best at that practice.

I'm in San Diego and we have the Jets game on here. The more I watch him, the tougher it is for me to envision Sanchez leading his team to a title. Maybe he'll mature, but he simply misses throws that he should make. I'm not sure he's actually accurate enough to pull it off.

Carolina will have a new coach next season with no personal investment in clausen. If they end up ahead of buffalo in draft order and they deem Luck a strong enough prospect, you best believe the new coach will snatch him up, clausen be damned.
Not only agree, but EXPECT that to play out. Clausen has done nothing to warrant a feeling of security. If he played/won like McCoy is in Cleveland, then maybe, but that team will take the premiere player available.

Just heard on the Pittsburgh game that the Bills and the Lions have the longest playoff drought. Last time in the dance was 1999?
Looks to me like the Lions are closer than the Bills to getting off that list.

Like the helmet. Hate the rest.

Unless he's broke, what would the bills have to offer other than money?

THAT IS AN AWESOME EMOTICON!!!

Being a lifelong Bills fan is a catch 22 really. On one hand, this is Ralph's toy to play with, but it is based on the support of a community, so there is a belief that he has a responsibility to that community. Either way, the fans have no direct say on what management does with the team.
Because I loved FOOTBALL and lived in a city that has an NFL team, I rooted for that team. If I grew up in another city, I'd be a fan of that team instead. It's not like I grew up in a neutral city and found something compelling about Wilson's management style. To say no Bills, no NFL sounds hypocritical. If you do not like the NFL, then walk away now, Bills, or not. Why you would stick around only because of the Bills seems insane frankly.
The point is, I've recently evaluated my allegiance to the organization. My analogy is that I have to sit in a corner while I watch Ralph play with his toy even though he's playing with it in ways that is hard to watch. So, I've left the room. Because I know many of you cannot stop watching the fool, I just sit outside and wait to offer you perspective once you open the door yourself.
For a long time, I struggled with the idea of loyalty, but I've come to embrace placing my loyalty where it really matters. I spend more time with my family and doing my job well, and less on what is happening with the Bills.
Keep in mind, Ralph admitted in his HOF induction speech that Buffalo was his #2 choice all along. He really wanted to go to Miami, but they turned him away. Now it's your turn.

I think it's absurd to keep asking this question. Would you guys just let Ralph Wilson live out the rest of his days. No one has any clue if this decision even has to be made. It's disrespectful and obnoxious. Why don't you guys just start rummaging through your parents things and start picking out the stuff you want when they die. Hopefully they don't sell anything in a garage sale or something before they die and leave you screwed out of any of the items you picked.
A fine sentiment indeed, but we are dealing with a sports franchise that all of us on here hold close to our heart. The threat of losing them to OKC or Vegas or LA or Virginia irks us and deservedly so. If Ralph did the appropriate thing and gave carte blanch to a verifiable FO, we wouldn't be in this situation. "At least he's not Al Davis" is the best thing I can say about our owner in regards to the way he runs the Bills.

The team and the never-ending greed that is the NFL would be dead to me. I love the game of football so I'd turn my attention strictly to college. Specifically, my favorite team since childhood, the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Interesting you bash the NFL for greed, yet you embrace Saban. Interesting.

Ralph had a chance to upgrade the FO and got Nix. Until Ralph's tenure ends, there is no reason to waste any energy and emotion on this team. I'm just waiting for the inevitable and then I'll consider rooting for this team again.

Uh, Corky, I thought you left to become a Horsey fan two pages ago? Why are you still replying here?
-
I agree. I love the mentality of some fans.
The Bills aren't winning, their HC isn't fiery, therefore all HC's who aren't fiery are losers. Let's see how that works the other way.
Eric Mangini is a fiery coach...
And Mangini was good enough to beat the Bills

I knew it was gonna be a bad day when I lost to the Saints this morning on Madden by the score of 70-10....I'm a pretty good Madden player by the way....it was the worst beating the CPU has ever given me...I knew it was a bad omen.
FIRE DICK JAURON NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Start building SOMETHING for next year...sigh....
Build what? YOUR owner is going no where. I was born a Bills fan, but I've boycotted watching, or following this team due to Ralph. As excited as I was about Bruce getting into the HOF, I was equally disappointed that Ralph got in. During the SB years, I was pleased that it seemed that he finally figured out how to run a team (by staying out of the way). Then he lets Polian go and the rest is history. Other than one 6 year run, the guy has been THE most frustrating part of rooting for this team.
NO MORE!
I'm still a fan, but I simply cannot ruin my days hoping that this guy can bring me a speck of joy. When he goes, I'll be back. I only logged in today since I saw the score and wondered what type of Armageddon I'd see on this board. About what I expected.
What a shame.

To an organization that clearly is undesirable to play for?
-
Reality is he's probably a pretty good NFL coach, and likely one that will be successful (his players certainly seem to think so).
I for one am concerned that the team has stood still for three years, yet the players love him. That tells me the players are more concerned about their comfort than winning. I can accept when a team supports a coach who may have a bad season after previous success, but that does not apply here. Jauron has had no success here and the players are embracing it.
Time to light a fire somehow. Maybe Ben Stein?

How 'bout them Cowboys???
I do feel a bit bad for Wade, though
WHY? What has he done for us to make you feel bad for HIM?

I started that thread you refered to regarding Chris Johnson, Matt Forte and Darren McFadden for the purpose of trying to see how fellow Bills fans felt when comparing ML to this years 1st rounders and a middle 2nd rounder (Forte)
Responses ranged from trading ME for a bag of balls and calling it the worst post of the week etc.
I am a diehard Bills fan but I dont keep blinders on. I see ML as "unbeastly" a middle of the pack player unworthy of a 1st rnd pick. Alot of members refuse to acknowledge what their eyes are seeing. Oh well.............
Which is largely why I started this thread instead of adding to yours. I did not see the appeal of ML based on what I've seen so far. Fred Jackson seems to find holes with the same OL, so I don't think it as easy as just saying it is the OL.

owner, HC, GM, ...
Owner first. I'm not sure how you can say HC before GM. At least someone occupies the HC seat. Sadly, I cannot say something like he has a heartbeat, or the like without an argument, but there is a name on the door at least.
