  1. Those are black-on-black shootings. Liberals don't care about those.

Plus, everyone knows Chicago has the loosest gun control laws in the country, and that...uhhh...what?

    Oh...wait...my bad. Nevermind.

That's not why. Apparently, the new mantra is that everywhere else EXCEPT Chicago has guns and THAT'S why the gun violence is so bad there. Words of wisdom from the F-I-L...

  2. Okay:

And two woman just got shot in an Elkhart, Indiana grocery store... Police killed the gunman. What's your point?

    Within the last few days:

    Movie theater dude.

New Mexico, 12 year old shoots @ school w/20 guage

    Elkhart, Indiana supermarket

4 year old shoots 4 year old

Wow... We had a heck of a week. It is not even making the board anymore. People must be getting bored.

My point is none of these happen if people are more responsible with respect to controlling their firearms. But I wouldn't be surprised to see more gibberish spewing from the mouths of the anti-gun crowd over these latest outrages, as we all know, they ALL would have been prevented had firearms not been permitted in the world...

  3.

Lordy, where you guys be going to the doctor..WVA???You using Obamacare and they can only use the old stuff?

Just did mine in August..about ten ounces of stuff that tasted good around 7.00pm, then another 10 oz at 4 AM..

And yes, lemon or clear gatorade, lemon ice, clear liquids like chicken broth all okay.

It's just a PEG solution, it costs like a dollar at CVS...

So Christie doesn't know what the hell is going on in his own camp, but he knows where the buck stops!

Christie's closet aids are causing awful traffic gridlock and he's off in the corner picking his nose, not knowing what is going on? What's he watching? Jersey Shore? Damn right he should take responsibility for running a rudderless ship! Yet, now he wants to grab the helm and actually attempt to steer. Thanks but no thanks buddy.

You are doing a heck of a job Christie!

    Damn straight! All true statements.

Maybe you'd be more likely to give him a pass if he read about the scandal on the news first? Who's leading a rudderless ship again?

  5.

The difference is that whenever Christie's subordinates got caught doing something wrong, he immediately took responsibility & tossed them overboard. Still waiting for the first act of accountability from Obama, even if it is in line with firing an Ike Hilliard.

It's even more than that though. It's not like he blamed a couple of subordinates and cast them off, while claiming he had nothing to do with it. He said it was his responsibility, and said the buck stops on his desk. Has there been one, single, solitary instance of Obama doing this? Even once?

  6. Is this a defense of using government to do intentional harm to the constituents of people who don't support you politically?

Certainly an abuse of power, and makes him look very bad. This should never happen. The biggest differences between this and the similar IRS controversy for the White House :

    1. Christie moved relatively quickly to address the issue directly, took personal responsibility for it happening under his watch. He should have done so in Septemeber when it happened and not months later when the story broke, however. When has the POTUS EVER taken full responsiblity for ANY of the things that have happened under his watch?

    2. He immediately fired the person directly responsible.

    3. He didn't mockingly refer to it as a "phoney scandal" and blame it on a couple of poor chumps in an regional office somewhere.

    3. Obama got away with it.

  7. My point is this: If you're paying for your own insurance, go to the exchange and you might find a better deal. I did and I know of several others (in different states) who also did. Yes, it's my anecdote, but most people in this thread have no interest in believing that there is any benefit of the ACA that doesn't come at a high cost. I believe that the exchange was a good idea and in many areas, has opened up insurance to greater competition.

Again, I know it's unpopular to say anything positive about the ACA and most here won't hear me. Still, I encourage those paying for insurance to take a look--you might be surprised at what you find. Maybe it won't be as good as what you have, but maybe it will be better.

Quite possible. I have no doubts that in some cases, as you point out, it's going to be better for some folks. I just hope it doesn't go the other way for the majority. We shall see...

  8. Let's let a Nobel prize winner handle this instead of you schlubs barking up the wrong tree.

You will find that if you isolated a single molecule of water, it would act like any other substance when it freezes. The difference is that water is the most social of all the molecules, and in inter-molecule scenarios, this shows itself. At certain temperatures, the hydrogens are perfectly happy splitting their time making love to the Oxygen, but as things slow down, they begin to desire more of a family life. This is sort of like a guy getting into his 30s or a woman wanting to have commitment. It is still scientifically unclear, whether the hydrogen is the dude or the chick, but I think it is the chick. Anyway, when there is a lot of water together, the dance first plays itself out intra-molecule. The two hydrogens begin to compete for the oxygen instead of being happy in a threesome. As one of the hydrogen begins to win and the other finally realizes its fate, it tries to leave the molecule for a neighboring oxygen. This never works and as the hydrogen gets further away, the density of the molecule decreases because it has a larger volume. Then wham, it is either 32 degrees or 0 degrees depending on where the water is living and it is too late to move any more. Other molecules don't do this because they are either monogamous or it is like one big orgy.

    I lol'ed...

The problem comes in where water and ice can coexist at the exact same temperature...which means the equations of state have a complete discontinuity at that temperature and pressure, which no one can figure out why (which also probably happens for other fluids). And water also expands as it cools from 37 to 32 degrees F, which no one can really explain, either.

Water is just strange, basically. Superfluidity is easy by comparison.

Even more simply, water's maximum thermal density is 4 degrees Celsius, not zero. So as water gets colder it gets actually gets lighter, quite unlike almost a every other substance. This is why fish survive in lakes during the winter, because the lake doesn't freeze bottom to top. This has very important implications for the formation of life on Earth...

  10. Because that's how free agency works. The poll isn't asking if Byrd is the best FS in the league. But being the best available FS in the market again this year, he will be paid at the top. It's just the way that things work in the league, and it would be nice if OBD remembers that it's business not personal.

    absolutely!

And IMO, a boatload of cash does wonders to sooth bruised egos and make players love their team!

  11. How many times are we gonna go through this, really? Mediocre teams, with a history of failure, that haven't sniffed playoffs or a winning season in 15 years will NEVER improve letting young Pro Bowlers at the peak of their powers leave the team. So what if they overpay him? Most players are overpaid anyway. It's not my money. I want the team to win. You keep good players, period. Besides, in two years he'll be the 6th highest paid safety anyway...
