They still can do that but the problem with that is there's no guarantees that the QB you draft in round 5 or 6 has any business being able to keep your team afloat if Allen goes down for three to five games or so.  At least you know with Trubisky that he is at worst a capable average backup and $2.6m is worth that insurance.  Better than the Steelers giving him more than $5m a year.

You can do worse than Mitchy Biscuits at QB2 and we have been doing much worse.

  2. Now if YE OLE was sitting down and hashing this out... YE would want to try to keep Daquan Jones, Rapp, and either Floyd or Epenesa. Rapp wasn't great (the int in Miami notwithstanding), but we need someone there that is not Cam Lewis or Hamlin, and he has a year in the system.

Some of these guys like Dodson and Jackson if they don't find a market elsewhere would be ideal to keep, but not at significant cost.

Spotrac has Gabe projected around $13.6 mil and Tee Higgins projected around $18.6 mil. If those numbers prove to be reasonably accurate, and the powers that be have any inkling to try to bring Gabe back, it would be great to take a swing at Higgins instead. YE OLE would still come back and take a swing at WR in the first rd too, gents!

Thats because of defense.  Let me know when the Bills keep Mahomes scoreless in the second half.

Punt, punt, interception, punt, punt, field goal, interception.

That was D, not Burrow.  Not to mention the trio of great playmakers on offense.

Lou Anarumo has really caused problems for Allen and Mahomes. If we created that kind of havoc on defense… last week and 13 seconds aren’t even close.

Allen is every bit as good as Mahomes… at some point the ball will bounce our way in these close games, but our defense finding an answer would also put us over the top. I’m somewhere in the middle on McDermott, and this year he really was scraping the bottom of the barrel due to injuries, but his defense has allowed Mahomes and Burrow to go through it like a hot knife through butter. That has to change.

I think they got lucky half our D was injured this year to be honest.

Hopefully we get back to that game next year with a healthy Milano and Bernard. That alone would have made a huge difference.

At some point we just gotta get it done…

I don't know how it ends up but I would use Dan Marino as the first example over Phillip Rivers.  Josh is in another class from Rivers and this is coming from someone who was a big fan of Rivers.

Agreed… we are all hurting and frustrated beyond belief right now to be having these conversations instead of getting ready for another game, but this is an overreaction.

Rivers was excellent, but Josh already has as many playoff wins as Rivers had in his entire career. Over a decent sample size now, Josh has played unbelievably well in the playoffs.

Since Josh emerged as a superstar in 2020, this team is 48-18 with a +629 point differential. The Chiefs have the next best point differential over the last 4 seasons at +431. As heartbreaking as this ride has been… things will eventually level out to where they should be. Multiple games being moved and rescheduled, deadly weather, Hamlin dying and being revived on the field are all extraordinary circumstances. The Chiefs catching us without Milano, Bernard, Tre, and half our defense on the shelf won’t always happen either.

All of that to say… Josh will win a ring, and probably a couple in Buffalo IMHO.

The 13 seconds season was the best chance to win the Super Bowl.....

Josh tried to play hero ball on his last two throws instead of taking the short stuff....a TD was needed on that drive to win the game. Even if the FG was good, how confident would you have been that the Chiefs would not have scored in the last minute forty five seconds.

Hard to disagree with that. Bass missing the FG wasn't even a blip on the radar. Bass having the yips is a problem, but it likely had no effect on the end of this game. There was close to 0 chance the defense was keeping the Chiefs out of FG range with the amount of time left.

I’m not McDermott’s biggest fan either, but we were 1-2 plays from the AFCCG.

This is correct. And yesterday was as painful and yet numbing as ever. We're not even to a point where the long 7-8 months until next season even matters. Next year, we will have some set of circumstances that will go our way or not go our way and win 11-14 games, and at no point during the season will any of it mean anything. We are going to have to wait a year to get back to this place again and have another kick at the can and hope that we are not ravaged with injuries. More than likely Josh is going to outperform the QB on the other side of the field (even if it is Mahomes). As others have stated... it would be shocking if McDermott gets fired, whether he should or not. It's going to be a long wait to get another crack at this.

    I have it at  38.10%.

Steelers/Ravens is 1/3 of the equation.   I have Ravens as about 40% chance so that is 13.2%

Jaguars/Titans is 1/3 of the equation and I have Titans at 25% chance so that is 8.25 percent.

Bills/Dolphins is 1/3 of the equation which I have at 50/50 or 16.65%

So, my calculation is 38.10% probability of being in on Sunday at midnight.

    We already control our destiny

This has been sticking in YE OLE’s craw. Chris Brown has been saying all week that if Jax loses tomorrow we control our own destiny. He said it again tonight when they signed off after the game. Nate Geary reiterated it on the postgame tonight. As you have aptly states mannc… we already control our own destiny. For better or worse after the dumpster fire that was this game.
