  1. --The Bills were winners in 63 (playoff w/Boston) and 64-65 when it took scratch to keep the AFL afloat vs. the NFL. They spent some under Chuck Knox too. Some fans think this team sprang into being around 1990. Not true.

--What "relocation fee"? Look at the $$$$ RECEIVED by the original Browns, the Oilers, the Rams and the Raiders when they moved. You only pay when you move into someone else's territory (NOT Seattle in the late 60's, for example). Even so, nobody in the NFL stays put just because they don't want to pay to move.

get with the times. NOT the 60's. how many atrocious seasons did we endure during the 70's and 80's? too many to remember. Chuck Knox was here for a short period, did well enough, and then it was the same crap after he left. Polian came along and did a helluva job until the Old Fart's daughter had to meddle. once he left, it's been the same crap. we're staring at nearly a DECADE of no playoffs.

if i remember right, the Rams had to pay a relocation fee of $29 million to move to St. Louis. if i remember correctly, Art Modell had to pay a relocation fee to go to Baltimore. any NFL team that moves today will have to pay a relocation fee. i don't know if it holds true about "someone elses territory" but if so, they'd have to move to Hawaii or Alaska to avoid it then.

  2. 1. Ralph Wilson- never liked him since Day 1 as a Bills fan. people can toot the Old Fart's horn all they want but in the 50 years as an owner, he never really cared about fielding a winner until the NFL became a cash cow and Polian thrusted the Bills in the spotlight with his incredible drafting. the guy is now cheating the fans by allowing "home" games in Toronto just to line his pockets. i don't want to hear that crap about how he could have relocated the Bills. he was too damn cheap to pay the relocation fee and Buffalo is a hop, skip, and a jump from Michigan. Bills fans need new blood for ownership and not some miserable old bastard who's only worried about his "tin cup."

    2. Coaching- Dick Jauron looks more suitable to answering doors by saying, "You rang?" somebody stick a mirror under his nose to see if he's still breathing.

  3. Spencer in Ellicottville, N.Y., can't "understand why every sports writer in the nation is on the Bills' case for shipping off Jason Peters." Spencer reasons that the Bills will be better off without Peters because they went 2-0 without him last year and 5-9 with him and he was "getting burned by rookie defensive ends almost every week."

    Tim Graham's Response:

You can be upset with Peters' contract demands and the way he forced his way off the team, but I will never understand why fans channel their anger into rationalizing that he's no good. That's the definition of sour grapes (one of the most misused phrases, by the way).

Peters was Buffalo's best offensive lineman last year. He led the Bills in point-of-attack blocking, according to analyst KC Joyner. Peters went to his second straight Pro Bowl because opposing coaches and players consider him one of the league's best.

Yes, Peters gave up too many sacks last year and took a big step back from his sublime season in 2007. But he was better than most. You're flat-out lying when you state he was abused by rookie defensive ends. Peters lines up against elite pass-rushers every game. That's what left tackles do.

As for your suggestion the Bills were better without Peters on the field, the records you gave are not only misleading, but also wrong.

The Bills went 2-1 in games Peters didn't play. Their victories came over the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, teams that went a combined 12-20. They also lost to the Patriots in the season finale minus Peters.

    My Take

I know we talked about this before and my thread will probably get merged, but I totally got to disagree with Tim. I think you will also agree that the Bills should have been 3-0 with Peters not in the lineup (should have beat N.E. just once again got out coached by Bellicheat)

First, I think that the POINT OF ATTACK statistic by KC joyner to be a mis-leading STAT. In fact I hate the P-O-A statistic, I believe it an irrelevant and somewhat doctored stat, you may disagree and that s fine.

2nd, I am POSITIVE that Jason Peters was NOT our best o-lineman last year. (just look how the line did when he did not play) I would say that award would have went to Brad Butler, with Langston Walker finishing a close 2nd. I mean, remember how Peters got abused by Joey Porter? Two Years ago Peters was the man, but not this past year.

And then there is always that SACK stat. Like it or not, Peters yielded 11.5 sacks last year. That was the most of any Tackle in the league, weather you believe in that stat or not. There is no doubt Jason Peters should NOT HAVE MADE THE PRO BOWL?

Thats my take guys, let me know if you agree or think that I am way off?

    GO BILLS-

i agree for the most part but having a disgruntled player on your roster is not good for your team, even if he was the best OL. go back and look at that Jet game, where Losman fumbled, and you'll see that Peters didn't make any kind of effort and laid off on that play completely. that's not a Pro Bowl type player to me when you leave your QB out to dry like he did.

  4. Has anyone on here ever left Buffalo after college and then moved back? Does it work? Do you find yourself wanting to turn around and leave again? I'm thinking of moving back there this fall, but I'm not sure if I can. Are there any single girls in their late 20's/early 30's? Whenever I go home, it seems that the city is mostly college kids and full-blown adults and not so many people in between. Biggest things luring me back are Bills season tickets, family and the food, but is that enough? Any peronal testimonies would be appreciated...

i was born and raised in WNY until 1986. i left for the military for 4 years and moved to Vegas in 1990. last year, i moved back to WNY, after getting full custody of my kids, for the purpose of getting them both a better education. half the kids in Vegas can't speak English and stopping class to interpret to them only hampered my kids learning ability. my kids are in 7th and 2nd grade. i was amazed, at the beginning of the year, at how far behind they were compared to the other kids. now, they are right up there. i'm not too happy being back here (weather and NYS dysfunctions) but i'm willing to make that sacrifice for my kids education. i may change my mind down the road but i'll be leaving NYS as soon as my youngest graduates. it can't happen quick enough for me.

  5. When I lived there, the Instant Replay on Sahara (just east of Durango) was a great Bills bar. It was by normal hangout when I lived there, long before I had any idea I ever would love to Buffalo.

i never been to that bar but i heard it rocked. i lived near UNLV and never got over to the west side much. they used to have Billy's West (i think it was off Tropicana on the west side)and Rob Roy's (Maryland Pkwy and Karen) too.

  6. Back then we all thought and were told it was a sprain.

    Fergy KNEW it was broken.

Can anyone here say "Great Big Ones" because that's what that guy had, and still has with his health battles, today.

Thanks for the memories and God bless you, Joe.

Oh, and yeah, he would be good today.

no doubt. any Bills fan who hasn't seen that game should definitely watch it.

  7. I bleed Buffalo blue and red and have since I moved here 7 years ago. Up until last season, Johnny Mac's and I were like Norm and cheers come football sunday. Now, the best Bar to watch is Stake out on trop and maryland parkway. Like a stadium atmosphere and it gets pretty packed with diehards and no one else. Pretty good time...you got to check it out.

Johnny Mac's blows. the Stake Out is decent but Santora's, out in Henderson, is the best Bills bar in the Vegas area.

  8. Saburzfan...your friends here at TSW want to make an intervention...do you place no value on your time? You still read Skooby's threads?

    1. i don't have friends, nor do i wish to make any, here at TSW.

    2. Skooby's threads are entertaining when the shortbus riders try to come up with something witty to say but fail miserably trying.

    3. i guess i have no value with my time if i just read a post by Jim in Anchorage.
