  1. we can only hope this guy works out since we can't expect the team to draft O Line high-(i know we just took a G in the 2nd round which proves the point we should be drafting them high because he looks to be crushing it)

We can't waste those high picks to keep our franchise QB upright  when we need a 5th DE who can't find the QB, a 4th CB who doesn't fit our system but we are 'desperate', another undersized MLB/Special Teamer or a small, slow, non shifty RB-got to keep stockpiling them

I’m going to say it. I don’t see anything special in Shakir. I don’t get the hype.

the only thing he does noteworthy to me is drop passes- i don't get the hype either except folks not wanting to be proven wrong because they latched on to him last year as the new da Rick

No, I’m just being honest. What’s the deal with all the love for Shakir? What makes him better than Shorter or Isabella? I just don’t see the greatness in Shakir that others are claiming. He seems like a lackadaisical player to me. Makes a great play or two and then drops a pass and then let’s a smaller DB shove his ass out of bounds that leads to an INT.

    To me he’s JAG.

agreed- it borders on irrational how much love this pass dropper gets. he doesn't do anything great- he is just a jag who drops more than he catches

If Isabella wins the returner job (not sure he will, he has never been a dynamic returner really) then I think there is a world in which it is Shakir that is in trouble if they like Shorter on coverage teams. I just wonder whether you can afford to hold a #5 wide receiver who doesn't do anything on special teams? We know Sherfield is going to play some teams, so maybe you can and Shorter misses out but it gets dicey for Shakir if someone other than Harty wins that return job....

Shakir should be nervous and maybe hold onto the ball when thrown to him

I think they are talking up Isabella so that he stays and goes to the practice squad for a few weeks at the very least. (Assumed your comment was about Isabella)

    yes Isabelle

I think Boogie is the second option talking him up to get a pick for him

they raved about how Boogie did against future  burger flippers and Amazon drivers

don't know yet whether the practice is open or not.  Last practice before Bills travel to Pittsburgh for game on Saturday

Good news on Gabe Davis if he's actually better.  Disagreement on Baylon Spector.  Parrino says he's back, Capaccio says "will not practice"

It's official.  Even McDermott thinks it's a problem:

If that's so, then why did his first 2 teams dump him, the first after he couldn't get on the field for a season and a half?

Is he just a practices like Tarzan, plays on Sunday like Jane type of guy?

    one of 2 things-

    1. they like him or

    2. they know he won't make the team and they are boosting his image to try to flip him for a late round pick- same thing with Boogie Basham

ESPN used to be an all day watch. Flip it on and have Sports Center in the background all day. Now? It's a nauseating bunch of know it all's that say things not to educate or report on what happened in the world of sports...but to cause controversy and get their name out there.

They moved away from intelligent sportscasters to more and more former athletes who prove that those that actually play the game are often the least knowledgeable about it. There are of course some exceptions to that, but for every Nate Burleson there are 20 Emmanuel Achos.

came on to say the exact same thing- i had it on all the time and on Sundays would watch pre and postgame exclusively on ESPN. Now I never turn it on. I do use the website for my sports news though

pretty sure you want your MLB to be physical and relentless from the snap to the whistle, but then focus on the next play

    why not both!

And some drops....Ateman was the bottom of the roster receiver I was most impressed with.

Diggs Davis Sherfield Harty Shakir Isabella. That's my guess for the 53.

people ignoring shakir's drops because why? he can star in the CFL till he gets his hands right

For a less than obvious answer: If Dorian Williams finds snaps he is going to flash big time this year. The hype about his instincts....isn't hype.

INSTINCTS- this is what Edmunds was missing- could not hit the right hole or deviate from his assignment to make a big play: looking forward to see if Williams can earn some more playing time

and I think we are way below our Williams quota right now

Poyer has led the team in toughness and physical play. If the MLB now has it too, then all the better.

However, I'd say that Dodson is at best our 3rd best LB after Milano and Williams.

Williams just needs reps and maybe a little bulking up-bring on the 'protein' supplements

    Do we keep 7 WR’s?

    Diggs

    Davis

    Sherfield

    Harty

    Shakir

    Shorter

    Shavers / Isabella / Ateman / Patmon

Not sure what people see in shakir besides ' I liked him last year and don't want to be wrong'

I think shakir and Sherfield are definitely competing for snaps.  Not only vs each other, but vs Harty and Kincaid as well.  Sherfield is listed as outside…: but he was the starting slot for Miami last year.  He can definitely play inside.  He’s a much better blocker and so far in camp, has been a much more reliable pass catcher (if reports are true).

I’m on record as loving the shakir pick and the player.  That said- it’s time to put up or shut up.  There’s a chance he’s buried behind Kincaid- Harty and Sherfield in terms of snaps.  If he keeps dropping the ball, I’d rather we have Morris out there and run more 13 personnel.  Morris has been a standout and I think he’s a player.

I don’t think shakir will get cut, but if his drops continue, I wouldn’t blame them for cutting him loose. A WR ain’t **** if his hands can’t be trusted.

    Cut him. I've seen enough.

Love him as a prospect, but he's very very green as a TE.  He has a lot to learn.   I wouldn't be surprised if he's not on the gameday roster until mid-season.

This team is in win now mode with an experienced TE already on the roster.

He is not a tight end

    51 catches

    765 yards

    6 TDs

    money in the bank

  14. I've said this before- they wanted Frazier hired as a head coach so they could get the draft picks and didn't want to fire an older respected AA coach.  they were hoping a Houston or some other dumpster fire team would bring him to stabilizes a team during a tear down like Lovey.

problem is Frazier's D sh!t the bed 3 years in a row during the playoffs= word gets around among coaches and execs.

it finally got to the point where they realized he was not getting another HC job so they came up with this walking away ruse to get him off the property.
