  1. Spiller is signed through 2015. Dareus through 2014. Neither have any Pro Bowl or All-Pro selections yet, but apparently will merit new contracts down the road.

There isn't a soul on this board, who, if they were in Byrd's shoes, would be happy with a 1 year guarantee. Nor would they be happy with a one year deal when fellow and sometimes lesser talented players have 4 or 5 year contracts with plenty of guaranteed money. A guy like Goldson or Weddle have a minimum of 18-20M coming their way. Byrd has his 6.9M. If only people could place themselves in the players shoes, but apparently fandom overrides that ability.

Byrd was offered a longer contract and decided to go for the 1 year deal. It was his choice and ultimately his gamble to play against the side with all the leverage. He should have no reason to be unhappy seeing other players getting longer deals.

  2. another one of Fitzpatrick's "weapons" ala Ruvell Martin, Hagan, Nelson, Jones, Naaman- of the team and out of football. Lee Smith won't be sticking either. Choice good dude but your out too. Not starting a Fitz post, just looking back ha no chance

FWIW - David Nelson and Naaman Roosevelt are on the Browns.

  3. I, for one, can't stand her. I think she's just a product of the Nashville Machine and a no-talent hack.

    But that's just me..

At the risk of sounding like a fan of either, she gained her fame by winning American Idol. She is more talented than Faith Hill by a mile.

However, she's certainly no King Diamond...

  4.

I don't recall much of a backlash when one of the greatest athletes of all time praised Allah at every opportunity. That man was Muhammad Ali and millions of fans loved him regardless of what religion he was affiliated with. I think Christians in America are very tolerant of all religions and that is one of the basic ideas that the founding fathers fought for. Freedom of religion is one of the cornerstones of American values. It is extremism that is the problem, not religion. Anyone who says that others have to die because they practice a different religion, does not understand what their own religion is all about. Tebow has every right to wear his beliefs on his sleeve. It shows that he truly is a man of faith, who is not afraid of the backlash.

Where were all the 'tolerant' Christians coming out to defend Muslims when they were building a mosque 2 blocks away from the WTC site?

And why would Sally even insinuate that Maher wouldn't dare tweet something that if Tebow was a Muslim? Is she inferring it's because Islam is a violent religion and he would be afraid of the consequences?

I'm not really noticing this widespread Christian tolerance you speak of.

  5. Maher's a comedian? Hahahaha - that is the funnier than anything that's ever come out of his mouth!

I love Sally Jenkins and this article shows why:

Set aside the intriguing question of whether Maher would have the nerve if Tebow were Muslim. Or whether he’s funny. (He’s not, really. Monty Python is.)

    Ride Sally Ride

My response to Sally's notion is, think about how popular would Tebow be in America if he indeed was a Muslim, who praised Allah at every opportunity. Would Christians be defending the passion he has for his beliefs so vigorously?

  6. I think it's incredibly stupid and naive on Tebow's part to assume anyone will publicly pray at his request and nobody would take offense when put on the spot to do so. The truth is, Tebow and the people defending him don't seem to have a clue that some people simply do not want advance religion in any way, particularly in public. Keep your damn prayers to yourself.
