  1. Thanks Gugny for starting this poll as it supports what I have felt many many times in the past (especially after any loss). Which is that the loudest voices on this forum often do not accurately represent the majority view of the fanbase. If you were only to read the posts this morning, you would likely assume the majority of fans were very upset with Brandon for his tactics last night. However the poll clearly show that in reality the opposite is true with >62% approving his decisions.  Obviously, this leaves almost 40% that are unhappy, but it's good to see that the majority of fans can be objective and let this play out before drawing any negative conclusion.

It's also really hard for me to comprehend how even a diehard fan/draftnik feels that they have enough insight to the players to be able to call Brandon Beane a moron. It seems that those who felt this was an appropriate comment just may have much bigger problems in life than who the Bills should draft.

Just curious why he is so highly regarded when these issues have come to roost fully

I have no idea what you do for a living, but I suspect you are not perfect at every aspect of it. People in positions that require difficult high level decisions who get >50% of them correct are typically doing pretty darn good.  I also doubt that there is a GM in the league that comes remotely close to meeting your perceived expectations of the position.  Of course Beane would like to have a mulligan on a couple of his decisions, but I feel the job he done thus far has earned my trust many times over and I fully expect the Bills to be in it to the end again this year. But then again, I find life is more enjoyable when you think positively vs. negatively.

Is it just me or does anyone else here get annoyed everytime either Beane or Mcd have a press conference they always bring up either players they had in Carolina or something else about how they ran there team. Correct if I'm wrong but Dave Gentleman was the GM and Ole River Boat Ron was the HC there right? It just drives me crazy that after 7yrs they still bring up the Panthers days like they won something.

Remember back in Bandcamp when we won 34,000 Superbowls and we scored 26000 pts in 14 season! 😂

I believe it's just safer for them to make a reference about someone that has never been a Bill. No emotions involved that way.

greetings. I personally think that the motive may come out. But I am less interested in that as I am the overview of who the shooters were, ages, etc.  Even then the parents of these individuals might, I say MIGHT be fine upstanding people. Or NOT. The Parkland school shooters Mother was recently convicted for her sons being enabled to take a gun and shoot to kill 4 kids. The dad goes on trial next.

Noone arrested yet. Clearly developing story  .

It was the mother of the Oxford Mi HS shooter that was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, not Parkland.

When is it going to be time to move on from this coach? I appreciate who he is, and what his MO is, but things are not pointing towards a Super Bowl victory with him at the helm.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that McDermott’s biggest (and only?) adjustment to his conservative nature is calling a more aggressive game in the recent playoff loss to the Chiefs. I didn’t see it, but okay. That’s a painfully slow learning curve. At this pace, he may figure out how to actually call a WINNING game on Super Bowl Sunday sometime in the 2040s.

How many more super quarterbacks and excellent HCs will come along during that time to put McDermott down every year…

It is not happening with McDermott. He ended the drought, he got this franchise to a very consistent winning tier. But there are obvious limitations that he’ll most likely never overcome.

It’s very very difficult to win a Super Bowl. A lot of things must align. You can’t have a head coach that is a liability when/if you ever get the chances to bring it all home. Every step of the way with McDermott he is always one or multiple steps behind what it takes to punch through. The longer he is here, the longer we wait (too patiently imo) for the trophy.

You guys are both exhausting and nauseating.  You obviously have the right to your opinion, but how about coming up with a new and interesting topic instead of just beating this one to death (again). It seems you just haven’t realized that Sean isn’t going anywhere no matter how many times you demand it.  I also strongly believe that the majority of Bills fans support Sean and it’s only a very loud minority that is keeping this discussion alive.

I tend to agree, but I could be persuaded to being interested in an increase of 4-3 consisting of Bernard, Milano and a Dorian Williams if he makes a Bernard-like jump in his second year.

That’s a ton of speed and athleticism at linebacker.

If Taron Johnson could become a nickel/safety hybrid, able to come up in the nickel and drop back in the 4-3, that could be a welcome new wrinkle.

I'm not opposed to this idea as a option (not base). But we also we need a better answer for the times when Taron is dinged up. I didn't feel he was playing to his standard during some of the early losses and suspected that he wasn't at 100%. Cam was a decent backup Safety, but was picked on whenever he replaced Taron at Nickel.

La Porta is already the second or third best TE in the league.  Great pick.

Not sure about that, but La Porta did have a really nice year.  I really liked him last year and was hoping we could get him in the 2nd round. That said, his skill set is more redundant to Knox's, so at this point, I believe Kincaid gives us more diversity at the position and I also believe Dalton will prove to be the better of 2 very good players in the long run.

This is good!  Something tells me that DaQuan just may be in a much better spot to evalute this hire than ANY of the those that have posted.  DaQuan doesn't say much, so I'll take him for his word in this case and hope that it helps bring him back next year.

  10. Scott, You're willingness to share this tragic journey with all of us has been beyond impressive. It's clear that your wonderful wife had a tremendous influence on who you are today. Please take some solice that this gift will stay with you forever and continue to provide you the strength you will need in the coming months. It's so uplifting to know that there has been something positive to come from such a sad event.

I don't know for sure obviously. He has till 6:00 a.m. If they let every "player" decide for themselves, we would have no injuries would we? lol I agree with others in above thread it feels like a fix. It's not but man.. I sure hope he plays.

I've reviewed the information available on-line and do not see anything regarding a 36 hour rule.  Do you have a document to support your statement or is it hearsay.  From what I've read, Taron just needs to go through a simulated contact practice without reoccurance of symptoms, as today's practice was only a walk-through. It seems as if this could happen tomorrow if required.

He’ll be out of the nickel early especially because they activated Klein from the practice squad. Linval Joseph will be important in this game.

Klein has not been activated. He was only signed to the practice squad likely as depth insurance in the event that Dotson isn't ready to go on Sunday. Smart move by Beane to get him a few practices, but this does not mean he'll be active on Sunday.  I fully agree that Joseph should be active for the Steelers and will be an important piece. I also expect McDerrmott to play primarily nickel and use #7 & 21 in run blitzes early and often.

What exactly in your view makes Wink a good choice for this team?

In my opinion, that would be a mistake if McDermott adds Rivera.  It’s always awkward to bring your former boss in as a subordinate.

From my personal experience, this is not univerally true. It is very dependent on the personalities of the people involved and the level of mutual respect they have for each other. I've been on both sides of this equation and always it worked fine. In those cases we were both colleagues and friends, so there was clear motivation to make it work. I would expect the same to be true with McDerrmott and Riveria.  That said, I'm not sure Rivera adds that much to the staff, but I know I don't want any part of Wink.

Losing Floyd and AJE would be significant and who knows what Miller will be in 2024. With as deep as the WRs are in the draft you may take an edge rusher in Round 1 and still get a quality WR in Round 2.

And Ed is the only DT that is signed for 2024!  I'm okay with WR in the 1st if the value is there, but it will be a deep WR draft.  M

ost of the rest of the draft should be used to fill holes on the defense as numerous key contributors at DT, DE & Safety will be difficult to resign.  CB & LB depth will be a secondary need.

Even if there's a 20% chance getting them back by the start of the playoffs,  I'd be ecstatic.

Fully agree!  My fear was that if the ligament damage was a moderate to significant ACL tear, he would likely need to wait for the broken bone to heal before having surgery for the ACL. I'm not a medical professional, but my daughter tore her ACL 3 times.  PT in the first weeks after an ACL reconstruction is critical to recovery and I don't know how you do that with a broken leg. If this were the case, this could push the timing for his return well into next season. If it was only a MCL sprain, that would be really great news.

I struggle to understand this fan base sometimes.  Many seem to actively search for ways to downplay the team’s fortunes and/or denigrate specific players, management and such.  Examples include:

    1.  Ragging on for years on Edmunds, then as soon as he leaves in free agency ragging on Beane for not resigning or replacing him.

    2.  Ragging on Beane for not having a veteran guy behind Brown at RT,  then ragging on him because the guy he got retired (as if Beane should be Nostradamus) then ragging on getting Ifedi as if we were going to get an All Pro.

There are many such examples.  But the last 24 hours or so have taken the cake, because who are we negative on now?  Josh Allen.  And why?  Mainly because of two articles from the gasbag known as Jason Whitlock, the first of which he said was a lie, then the second of which he claims Josh doesn’t work hard enough and it’s supposedly well known.  Throw in an interview with MacAfee where Josh specifically states he watches a lot of film but qualifies what he takes from it, and all of a sudden it’s Josh that is why the Bills haven’t won a Lombardi.  It’s Josh who drinks too much (one incident with Kyle Allen), Josh who doesn’t work out, Josh who doesn’t spend enough time on football in the off-season (put your TV on and measure in minutes how long till you see Mahomes in a commercial).  Or Josh impregnating waitresses, which no reputable news source has validated.

All this leads me to ask:  what the hell is wrong with some people around here?  I am not saying Josh can’t improve.  He needs to continue learning to take the short routes, get the ball out quicker, etc.  but to claim he is now somehow the problem, that it’s his work ethic, that as one person said here that they don’t like Josh personally  as if he actually has ever met the guy?  Come on.

I have thought for quite a long time there are folks on this board that really want the Bills to lose so they can somehow crow on a message board that they were right.  I think some of the stuff we’re seeing is some bizarre defense mechanism people throw up as a guard should the Bills not win it all.

Me?  I’ve been a fan since 1960 when I was 5 years old.  I will do as I’ve always done, enter the season with optimism and then see how things go.  Offer praise when merited as well as criticism when merited.  But to actively seek out reasons for negativism, even to the point of believing nonsensical crap to do so?  I don’t get it.

Fortunately for most of us, Brandon Beane doesn't consider anything said on this forum as input to his decisions. I also am someone that doesn't enjoy reading the idiotic negative stuff (especially after a loss), but I realize that these comments come from a group that is a very small, but loud minority. The best thing for me has been to just add them to my ignore list as I have found very little value in most of their comments. Constructive criticism and suggestions are fine, but personally I hope Beane & McDermott continue to be the leaders of this team for a long long time

  18. I think Cam Lewis and Siran Neal are fighting for the 6th CB spot, but there's no room for both. Cam has versatility, but Siran is a core ST'er, so it could go either way. Rapp could replace Siran on ST and should be better in Nickle, but it will be interesting to see if the coaches believe that Cam has made a jump from last year, vs just having another nice camp. Another point that I haven't seen discussed is if someone like Benford or Jackson could adequately replace Taron if he gets dinged. Lot's of moving parts in this decision!

I expect Gilliam to make the 53, so there's probably not an OL spot available for Boettger. I also think Morris will be the 3rd TE, with Sternberger going to the PS.

  19. 21 hours ago, Doc Brown said:

We still could sign him next season if we want to move on from Martin next season.  My biggest concern with Araiza was his control as he had a difficult time with pooch punts in college.

Based on his new 3 year contract and the recent comments by M. Smiley, I believe Sam is going to be our punter for the foreseeable future, unless his leg suddenly does dead. It appears they were very happy with his performance in all aspects of his role and I certainly wouldn't argue the point. Araiza may cost a little less, but the punter's salary normally is not a significant cap concern.

I wonder if the Bills FO meaning Beane, McD, & Pegs talked to him to get his story first or if they just cut bait ASAP ?

If he does win his suit against her in court would that look bad on the Bills for not looking into it before getting rid of him & not sticking up for one of their players  ?

I mean they drafted him & apparently had long conversations with him & they thought he was a upstanding young man the type that the Bills thought would be a good fit 🤔

I mean it could have been a real S**T show but even when Marshawn, & Marcel pulled their deals they waited to gather info before closing those doors .

Last thought again if he is completely cleared of all charges & wins the law suit against her could he file a wrongful termination suit against the Bills ? I don't know much about the law but Stranger things have happened .

I realize this all went down almost a 11 months ago and people tend to have short memories, but my recollection was that the Bills were very supportive of him as the new broke. Unfortunately eventually it became clear that the time and energy he would need to spend on defending himself would also require him to put his NFL career on pause. I would not ne shocked that they supported him through the legal process as they seemed to believe his version of the story. Fortunately, the truth was revealed fairly quickly and he can start the journey to have a real life again. This is all despite the opinions and comments of idiots like Mike Schopp that were 110% convinced he was guilty because the LA Times would never report anything that was not accurate!  This thread is not about Schopp, but I clearly recall being sickened by his lack of professionalism and stupidity at the time.

I am trying to decide if I should buy Sunday ticket.  So I put this together and figured it might be helpful for some other fans facing the same problem.  I'm in Irvine so Chargers/Rams get priority.

According to my calculation I'll need Sunday ticket for 7 Games at $399 that comes to $57 a game.

I live in Michigan and did the same analysis right after the schedule came out. I came to the same conclusion as you, but as I already had YoutubeTV, the cost was only $249. Along the way, I also realized that Sunday Ticket would also give me the flexibility to watch whatever game I was most interested in on the weeks when the Bills are playing in Primetime or the 4:30 game, instead of only the Lions. In the end, I decided to go with it for this year and see how it goes.
