Dude, our receivers were a huge problem last year, and on paper we look demonstrably worse now. Just once is it asking too much to give Josh Allen some love?

Look at the other top qb's around the league and it is indisputable that they have better weapons than Allen.

The top 10 qb's in the game imo (not in order) are Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Stroud, Hurts, Prescott, Love, Goff, Purdy, and Stafford.

Some would argue Herbert, Tua, Rodgers, or Cousins are top 10.

NO ONE has a worse group of receivers than Josh, except MAYBE Herbert. Hell, Caleb Williams steps in and essentially has 3 (!) number one options before ever playing a single game.

Downplaying or ignoring this deficiency, as apparently Beane has decided (and you concur with), is flat out negligent with a unicorn QB in his prime.

I believe it is disputable that Mahomes has better weapons than Josh.

Beane would rather sign a JAG fifth rounder from 2020 over drafting a fifth round WR in the great WR 2024 draft.

    Honestly, make it make sense.

No, he'd rather draft a potential starting center (after losing his starting center), a versatile and athletic linebacker, a pass rusher with serious 3rd down impact potential, and acquire a 4th round pick in next years draft over drafting a depleted talent pool of wide receivers in the 5th round.  That's what he'd rather do.  I prefer his approach to yours.

Cephus will make the 53 I think.

This is a very sneaky good add.

Brings more than Shavers, Isabella, Shorter IMO.  I liked the Hamler add as well.

This is going to be an interesting WR camp battle shaping up.

i agree it's a sneaky good move.  I balked at it initially.  But i went to Wisconsin, not while Cephus was there, but I watched him a decent amount.  He's not some nondescript guy.  He's so strong, and would take over games.  I'd wonder...."Is anybody paying attention to this guy.  He could be a difference maker in the NFL."  His 40 time at the combine destroyed him, although her did run 4.56 at his pro day.  His first two years in the league were not promising, but he's the kind of training camp wonder that will have fans pounding the table for him around roster time.

We desperately need wr help after 456 years of not drafting a wr in the top 3 rounds and we enter the deepest Wr draft in decades.  We trade away a pick to the arch enemy who proceeds to draft the player that consensus would say Buffalo should have drafted.  You then proceed to trade away the again to a team that takes the next best option.  You then choose to draft a WR you probably could have got much later, and draft 2 defensive pieces.  We walk away with only Coleman in the deep wr pool.  Wow

Seems like lots of misinformation here.  Personally, Worthy and Legette would have been disappointing picks for me.  Before the draft, very few were clamoring for Worthy.  Many fell in love with Legette. Why? He's fast and big.  He also had a few highlight reel moments on youtube.  Coleman's youtube highlights are just as fun. As for drafting him later,  by all accounts, Coleman was going next to the Patriots, who promptly traded their pick the moment after the Bills took him. The deep wide receiver pool remains deep.  Beane of course addressed other needs on the roster, as he should.  We just watched the Chiefs win their 2nd straight super bowl with a laughably bad receiver room and an elite defense.

You're fine, but the armchair gm's on this board are absurd.  The Bills have the 2nd best record in the NFL since Beane has been here.  He's good at every phase of his job....trades, free agency, and drafting.  Does he have his misses?  Does Josh throw interceptions??  That's sports.  You win some and you lose some.  But he wins a hell of a lot more than he loses.  Enjoy the excellence of this team over the next decade.  Whenever you get anxious, just say..."In Beane I Trust".  He will always come through and put a winner on the field for us.

The purpose of this poll is to get an idea of how the TBD community feels about Beane’s strategy on night one before the rest of the draft plays out.

There is no “wait and see” option for a reason.

I personally like what Beane did and I’m interested to see how others feel.

I think a more pointed question would be...

1.) Would you rather have Xavier Legette, Xavier Worthy, or Ricky Pearsall in the first round      OR

2.) Would you rather add a 3rd round pick, and have a choice between Troy Franklin, Adonai Mitchell, or Ladd McConkey in the 2nd round

KC calls you hang up. Don’t even listen. Just gave mahomes and Reid a 4.2 guy. Hahahahahaha

I, for one, am super glad you are not the GM of the Buffalo Bills.  To not listen to a trade offer that benefits your team because you're scared of that team....sounds like a championship mindset!!

We better pray Worthy either becomes injury prone or just a straight line bust wr.  If he develops fast twitch moves like Hill, we're screwed.

Or we could just build the best team we possibly can without concern for  what SCARY THEY are doing.  It's good to have a GM who is not scared to make this kind of move like most of us would have.  Getting a third to select the same player they would have selected at that spot (Ladd, Frazier, or Franklin) is smart and reeks of confidence.  And that's why they pay him the big bucks

Bills won't stop helping Kansas City. Already got them a couple SB's with the Mahomes gift. Now, they have provided them a T. Hill replacement. One team I would never trade with-- the Chiefs. Just mind-numbing.

And they leave the 1st round with no receivers-- in a round where 7 were taken. There are a lot of receivers in the draft, but I don't think anyone left is a potential #1 (maybe Mitchell-- but he doesn't seem ready to take on that role immediately).

Really looking forward to the 5-7 round landfall the Bills have put together.

Suddenly Wothy is a #1?? They weren't taking Worthy and they weren't taking Pearsall.  So to get a 3rd round pick (when you didn't have one) to select the same player you were going to select anyway (Ladd, Franklin, Frazier, Mitchell, etc.) is nothing but damn smart GMing

  9. Man, I wish I could get on the BTJ train... but I can't.  My kingdom for one highlight of him snatching the ball over the middle, or a route that shows nuance and shiftiness. If he's drafted, I'll get on-board quick.  But I see a souped up Gabe.  Plus he has injury concerns, on-field concerns (hands, route running clearly a work in progress), and personality concerns (doesn't exactly strike me as an alpha).  He strikes me as the Tremaine Edmunds of wide receivers.  He's super impressive physically, but a complete projection as a football player.  Beane, like most GM's, are salivating over his traits.  But I'd be thrilled if they pass on him.  Also, can someone give me a more hopeful comp than Christian Watson or DJ Chark.  The PFF guys have him somewhere between wr #9 and wr#15.  I'm open to plenty of positivity.

2022 draft the move definitely would have been to trade back and take two day 2 swings at CB rather than trade up and force it for Elam (and still take Benford in 6th!)

Could have gone Cam Taylor Britt with the trade back 2nd rounder, kept the 4th and taken Tariq Woolen, and taken Benford as a CB with potential to move over to safety. We'd be rich in CB's right now...

This is about as loaded of a WR draft as that draft was at CB, wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to trade back a little and take two on day 2 and another sleeper value on day 3 (Jalen Coker type)

Looking at a draft board in retrospect and saying 'This is what they should have done...' is about as fruitless as moaning about the girls you didn't ask out in high school.

I’ve changed my mind 100 times on what I want the Bills to do.

Worthy is still my favorite WR in that pick range.

    My WR crush process worked like this;

    1. Thought Xavier Legette was the prettiest girl in school until...

    2. Troy Franklin caught me eye.  I knew he was the one.....until...

    3. I flirted briefly with Keon Coleman.  Picture him in the Bill's embedded arriving from the airport.  But he's slow...a deal-breaker for me. Moving on...

    4. I fell hard for Tez Walker.  But....

    5. Jermaine Burton seemed so perfect.  I heard he's a jerk though.  So...

    6. Ladd McConkey was next. It's so clear.  Checks every box.  Problem is...maybe we can do better.

    7.  Screw it.  Go get Rome.  I mean, have you seen his interviews?  He's so cool!!  I'm all in.  On second thought, he costs a ton.

    8. Just stick with Ladd.  C'mon it's a no-brainer.  It's just that I wanted a big guy.

    9. Trade down.  Of course!! Ja'lynn Polk and Roman Wilson are attractive.

    10. C'mon it's Ladd.  It's always been Ladd.  It always will be Ladd.

    11.  Why am I thinking about Xavier Legette this morning?  I thought I was over him.

    12.  Kansas City better not get Ladd .

    13.  I hate all these guys.  I'm sick of thinking about this.  I can't stop thinking about this.  I forgot my wife's name.

    14.  I wonder what Ladd is doing right now.

I think Javon Solomon is a strong possibility, in the 4th.  Might require a small tradeup but he's someone I think the Bills are interested in.

Looking for a guy to compete as a 4th/5th edge player.  Top 3 are locked in and Coohill might be a better fit than I'm expecting, or Jonathan makes a jump.

But I agree, it's not deep at all at Edge in this draft class.  If we draft past the 4th round, it's probably competing for the last DE spot.  I think if we land Solomon, he could add some pass rush juice sooner than later, but might be limited to mostly pass downs.

    To me, ideally we land:

    Rd1: Mitchell, Worthy, or Franklin

    Rd2: Roke or Maason

Rd3: trade into 3rd (next years pick from Diggs trade) for Kam Kinchens or another safety

    Rd4:trade up for Solomon

Use rest of draft on OL, CB, RB.  That addresses our major/minor needs.  Once we get to the 5th round especially, I see us going RB/CB - two positions where depth roster spots are open.  We're fairly set on OL, could always use upgrades but don't see it happening until late.

Trading what will end up being a high second in next year's draft for a 3rd in this year's draft does not sound like great business to me.

  13. i think it's  significant that the Bears are hosting Xavier Worthy on a 30 visit.  They are not taking him at 9.  And they don't pick again until 75.  You don't bring that guy in if you're not considering him.  They may have something in place with the Bills.  By the way, I am with Joe Marino.  Trading up significantly in the first for a non QB usually does not work.

With all due respect…have you seen Beane in the first round?  We are most likely trading up imo. We have the ammo to do it to get a stud to replace diggs

Off topic, but actuallllly ....  Albert Einstein made amazing scientific accomplshments totally independent of the theory of relativity.  For example, his Nobel Prize was not for the theory of relativity which was still somewhat controversial at the time.  Einstein would not have, in any way, been a cut-rate university professor even if he never thought about relativity.

    OK, back to football.

I figured.  I went for the quick joke.  In all honesty, I think Beane is really good at his job.

Could you imagine this board if we rolled out K.C.'s receiving corp last year.  They actually traded a premium pick for Toney, and busted with 2nd rounder Sky Moore.  That's not to mention picking CEH in the first round, trading away the best receiver in the league, trading their top cornerback, drafting a first round pass rusher last year who could barely get on the field, etc. etc. But none of it matters because they win.   Their roster, in my opinion, doesn't look any better than ours.  But Mahomes and Kelce just find a way.  So Veach will be lauded on here, and Beane dinged....cuz it's all about the rings.

Maybe you're right, but I'd be unhappy if he is the main selection at WR. If he's a second option, that's fine, but it appears unlikely, given the lack of a third round pick. Beane can move around a bit. I expect he will try and get back into the third, but some of those early picks are going to DL and probably S, though I wouldn't rule out OL, or even, given past proclivities, RB.

I hope they don't stick and pick in the 1rst.  I think most of us are hoping for an added 3rd (or very early 4th).  I want them to get their guy.  I trust Beane.  If he can find Gabe in the 4th and Shakir in the 5th, I trust in a stacked class he can get a guy he wants.  If they take Franklin in the first, I'd be fine with it because that means he's at the top of their board.  But I'm guessing they don't have a first round grade on Franklin, and after watching Tez, I don't see much of a difference between the two (I like Tez more).  But it doesn't matter what I like.  I just want a weapon streaking down the middle of the field.
