Wow! Everybody hatin' on this guy already? I'll give him a chance. Go Keon! Make them eat their words.

BTW, DHop ran a 4.57s 40 at the combine. TO ran a 4.65. Best ball skills in the draft. I'll compare him to KB if and when he fails. Until then I'll give him a chance to work on his route running. He's 20 and lacking in experience. I see a lot of room for growth.

This exactly.  I see all these terrible, lazy comparisons to Kelvin Benjamin, who is nothing like Keon Coleman if you have actually followed his college career and watched the film.  Keon is a complete receiver. TO and DHOP are much better comps. Complete receivers that play faster in comparison to other receivers in an actual football games vs a non-football exercise run in track shorts.  Speed will never be his primary attribute, but it will never be an issue either. Let's face it, Diggs wasn't particularly fast himself. Before the combine, Keon was sure fire first rounder based on his film. He's a very safe bet to be a fantastic NFL receiver.

I'll be disappointed if it isn't one of these guys and the odds are that only 2 or 3 of them will be hits.

    That's the risk.

*Still holding on to hope of a Justin Jefferson trade

I would add Mcconkey and Leggette in there just ahead of Franklin but otherwise agree with this. If we could get any two from that list in the 1st and 2nd I would be over the moon.  Otherwise, one of those and a potential starting safety would be great as well.

Please, dear Lord, DO NOT let the Bills draft Keon Coleman. PLEASE.

I watched a lot of Coleman this past year (I'm a Clemson alumni but watch a lot of ACC/college games in general), and I know he isn't popular on this board, but I have to say, this is guy that plays faster that he ran in the 40.  He's an excellent, NFL ready receiver. He tore Clemson up and Clemson has some legit, NFL corners. He could come in right away and be our starting #2WR and be an upgrade over Gabe Davis day 1. He does not have breakaway speed or burst, but he has football speed and elite route running/body control, and is sure handed. Don't get my wrong, I covet an electric receiver for the Bills prob more than most (I've been screaming for it for the last 2 years, even with Diggs), and still think we need a true #1 with elite athleticism/upside type, but wouldn't be upset if the Bills got Coleman, and you shouldn't be either. He going to be a good NFL receiver.  My ideal scenario is that they grab one of Thomas Jr/Worthy/Legette/Franklin/McConkey in round 1, and are able to grab Coleman in round 2.

Then No.  League Min is what he is worth for the Bills in this window with the Draft Rich position of WR that they have 11 picks in.

Does he play ST like Hollins does?

He actually does return kicks/punts (was the primary punt return for a while at Clemson) so can be used for that but his main contribution would be in the slot.  We clearly disagree on his value, I''ll leave it at that.  Hollins is a complete different position/role, wouldn't affect us signing a veteran slot like Renfrow one way or the other.  We are clearly going to draft WRs as well, this much is obvious (and we damn well better draft one in the first and move up if necessary).  Doesn't preclude a couple safe vet FAs on minimal deals.

  5. Just now, MAJBobby said:

Ok Vet Min.  Is he signing for that.  That is the Right price for him.

He's better than that, he will have options for sure, but it won't take much if wants to win. Something under $5m per for a contender is possible.

I have.  I have watched a WR that had ONE year that was over his norm of middling between 400-650 yards

Shakir had Renfrow stats already last year with less snaps.

So YES NO to Renfrow.  There are some veteran WRs I could be talked into HE isnt one of them.

Looks who's throwing him the ball. You say you "watched" them but then you only look at basic stats. To say you "know" that Shakir is a better route runner is laughable. You have to ask what numbers Renfrow could put up in our offense with Josh throwing the ball.  And you may not like Renfrow, but to act like he isn't an option is short sighted, he could help us and at the right price would be a great pickup.

  7. Diggs plays all over the field and is a great route runner no doubt, but he's not the best in the NFL, cmon man have some objectivity.  Shakir is a good route runner as well (not better than Renfrow, you clearly haven't watched much of him) but I'm talking about adding pure slot receiver, elite route runner, someone who always gets open. We haven't had it since Beasley, it's a nice security blanket for Josh and gives us depth so we aren't banking on just Diggs/Shakir/rookie.

Sure do, better than with Shakir.  So answer remains No.  Go get WRs in the Generational WR Draft.

I absolutely want the Bills to take an outside WR in the first (and another soon after), but Shakir is not strictly a slot guy and we don't have anyone with Renfrow's route running ability, not even close.  Don't get lazy just comparing height, Shakir and Renfrow are very different receivers.

I'm in London right now crushing it in the gym 4 hours ahead of Buffalo.

Knowing what we know now, on Day 2, what would your plan be if you were GM?

Me, I think I sit tight at this point and let things settle.

    Beane plugged some holes.

If I'm him, I see what happens at safety and edge over the coming weeks.

My guess is there will be some value at safety.

If I had to make a move, I would make a run at Chase Young ( see what I did there?) and see if he is willing to go mercenary and sign a 2 year deal (that really is a one year prove it) like Floyd did last year.

BTW, saw Chelsea vs Northampton last night. Must say it was fun but not really thrilling like so many soccer fans suggest. Atmosphere was more polite than raucous. The Northampton fans were in one section and shouted the entire match(did I get that right?). The Chelsea folks mostly sat and watched. It was a Monday night. No beer in the stands and their main beer was Singha which is their sponsor.

Edge is done. With Epenesa signing no way we make a play for any significant edge in FA. Will likely draft one and maybe even re-sign Lawson or someone like that on vet min but we are done with anything significant there.  We have Miller, Rousseau, Epenesa, Kingsley Johnathan under contract currently (and Cameron Kline but he is probably cut or PS).

A veteran at good value for Safety is a must at some point, and then likely a RB and WR and rotational DT as well, but we are done at edge.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, would have loved going after Young but signing Epenesa prohibits anything further there.  A little surprised we didn't just let him go but will wait to see the contract details before judging fully.

Hynes is still there though.  So probably closer to $15m over right now.  And if Beane is cutting Poyer and Morse, gotta think Tre and Von don’t survive.

Von will survive, it's too prohibitive to cut him outright this year. Plus there is a chance he rebounds to near 2022 form and we are thin at DE on the roster as is. Tre will likely restructure but if he's unwilling then yeah he's a goner. There is just no way he can be an elite corner again after those back to back major lower body injuries.

Lost a bit of my enthusiasm when Beane signalled we're keep an older costly average center in Morse. Likely he'll be extended which is just a miss in my book. All these extensions may put us in dead cap Hell again. Follow KC's lead and move on from older or expensive players. Draft well and play them, not observe them for a few years like McClappy is inclined to do.

I gave you the eyeball roll reaction but this post aged quite nicely for you, apparently Beane agrees with you! Props, I didn't see it coming. Maybe Beane was playing his cards close the vest or Morse wasn't willing to play ball with a restructure. Either way, with the news on McGovern moving to center and Edwards to LG (and of course the cap savings) I'm starting to see the light.

    3. Rasul Douglas is not the absolute lock to be back I think most of us assumed. He twice went immediately to past tense when talking about him "I liked what he brought to our defense" and "it was a pleasure getting to know him." Now neither of those definitely mean he is gone, but there are ways of making those same points without phrasing in the past tense and as I said at the start sometimes Beane tells you more than he means to. It definitely made my ears prick up. He is almost $10m of pure savings with zero dead cap if they cut him. I'm not saying I expect them to but I thought the tense he used was interesting.

Although I'm sure Beane is keeping all options open, I have to think this is a little bit of posturing here. He may be trying to gain a little leverage in negotiations with Douglas' agent for a short term extension. Would be shocked if the Bills just cut Douglas outright with what he brought to the table, how good of a fit he is for this defense, and the fact that we traded a legitimate pick for this guy.  I mean you saw how resistant Beane was to let go of Hines after we traded only a 6th round pick, can't imagine he just waists that 3rd for 5th swap.
