ESPN has over 12,000,000 people registered to play FF, overall, it’s figured it’s nearly triple that.

Betting on the NFL is soaring, it’s estimated 75,000,000 are expected to bet on the NFL in the U.S. this year

The NFL is the 2nd most bet on sport in the world.

Given that, I’d bet many would enjoy hearing about FF/gambling on WGR.

Yeah but talking about your fantasy team is a bit like somebody talking about crypto, or to put it more bluntly, playing with oneself. It might feel good for the person doing it, but it’s a real bore for the rest of us.

  2. So here's the deal. I moved to Florida in 1997 with my family when I was 12 years old. As a kid I listened to WGR quite a bit with my dad, when I wasn't listening to Yankees games on the radio cuz that was the only option (probably the last generation to have to do that). I remember Art Wander (there's no way he's still alive, is there?) and Coach Dickerson, and I'm sure I'd remember other names if people reminded me. It was still News Radio 55 at that point, but I remember tons of Bills talk. I'd always like to listen to it when we would come back up, either for a Bills game or whatever.

Well anyways, after hearing about One Bills Live from my Dad and listening to it at as a podcast, it then became clear to me that it was being originally broadcast on WGR. And so after starting to use Audacy it him me that I could listen to WGR regularly again. And it's been a breath of fresh air to hear programming on my car rides to and from work and whatnot from a Buffalo-centric point of view.

So anyways, I obviously gravitated quickly to Howard & Jeremy and especially Schopp & the Bulldog. Schopp has a great voice for radio and Bulldog does have an endearing regular guy fan sort of viewpoint. But after a while it became clear to me that Schopp's obsession with fantasy football (and both's affinity for gambling) is weird as *****. I personally have 1 fantasy team, but I can understand people having a handful (maybe 3 or 4 at the most). But why would one have over 200 fantasy football teams? Am I the only one who finds that ***** insane? That's a sickness. At that point why is it a bother to have  those teams at all? Who can you even remember to root for? Are all these leagues for money? That's gotta be a bit of a problem. And Bulldog, as a broadcaster, is actually really fun in my opinion. He's definitely a little less cerebral than Schopp but he's earnest. My issues are this: why does he firstly get to work from home despite it being 2023? I assume this started in 2020? Does he have a medical reason to be there instead of at the station with his partner? That leads me to my second issue, why does dude have SO much time off? He's sick nearly constantly and then quickly on vacation when he's not sick anymore. Perhaps he should just give this gig up. Also, the way his microphone pops on his "p"'s sounds so unprofessional. Maybe it doesn't sound so bad on the warmer, slightly hissy AM radio in one's car as opposed to the digital version that appears on my phone, but it's pretty agitating when trying to listen to some Bills commentary.

As far as the other guys, I really like Nate Geary. He's heart on sleeve and just fun. Howard was great in my opinion, I vaguely remember him with much more hair on Empire Sports Network from before we moved, and look forward to hearing more from him in the future, as his departure from the show didn't mean he wasn't gonna stay visible on the Buffalo sports scene. Jeremy is okay in a fratty yet mellow and cool way. His takes to me are usually pretty reasonable. Joe seemed fine as a fill in but is nothing special. The minor fill in guys are kinda fun honestly.

  3. Am I the only person who finds it odd he kept using the phrase “spanning time” with Christina Ricci’s character? I mean maybe it’s supposed to be that Gallo’s character isn’t good with words, but it’s odd how he keeps saying spanning time within one scene, where obviously the word to use should probably be “spending time.”

Other than KC, Von Miller did all but literally nothing in the two games against the other two top-10 offenses.

So idk if Minnesota fits in here, but Von had a huge sack on third down that for all intents and purposes should’ve put that game away. Unfortunately our recently re-signed superstar Cam Lewis thought an interception would be cooler than just knocking the ball away and winning the game.

It's not just the Cincy game for me. It's also the Miami game with Skylar Thompson. The Jets game with Zach Wilson.

I think the incredible thing to me about last season was how these kinda ***** QBs would have the best game of their life against us. Wilson scored how many points on the Pats altogether in two games? Three? Ten? But he plays against Buffalo between those games if I remember correctly and he plays the best game of his NFL career. Now mind you, it wasn’t great, but it was efficient. How could this vaunted defense not stop this joker? Same thing with Skyler Thompson. He scored nine against the Jets the week before we got them, and he puts up over 20 against us. Not mentioning the drops by Waddle and Hill that surely coulda changed the complexion of the game as much as Josh’s turnovers and Shakir’s drop did.

He did have Isaiah McKenzie wide open for a likely game winning TD against Miami that ultimately probably would’ve got us home field. But he bounced the pass to him. You see Mahomes ever do that in the big moments?

You mean like the failed sneak against the Titans a couple years ago, or the failed sneak against the Vikings this year? Josh is many things, but for some reason, an awesome sneaker he isn’t yet.

Funny enough, if he gets those two simple plays right we likely have home field advantage in the 2021-2022 season and the 2022-2023 season. Josh has undoubtably been clutch against KC, but those random games throughout the year, sometimes he just doesn’t have it. You don’t see stuff like that from Patrick Mahomes. If he needs a yard to win a game, he gets it.

They say the NFL is a copycat league yet I've never seen Frazier attempt to copy anything another team used to shutdown an offensively potent team.

    There it is.

We go into the Dolphins game with them skidding after SF and LA basically put the breaks on them. Do we use any of what those guys did? Nah.

Then the Patriots and the Ravens give the Bengals fits. The Bengals don't have a great game against either. So when its time to play them in the biggest game of the season, do we decide to use anything they did. Now way, that's not happening! Leslie knows better than those other guys.

If we joined the ‘72 Dolphins as the only other undefeated team and SB Champs, our strength of schedule would be too weak, and our point differential would be disappointing.

After we get a Lombardi we will see how much complaining there is.

More likely, it’s that we won’t accept just getting to the dance anymore. With Josh Allen, that’s not enough. Sorry guys.

I'm 77 years old and ever since the AFL and NFL merged we have experienced nothing but disappointment in the end. I along with many here thought this would be THE year. In hindsight the appointment of a rookie OC and retaining the old DC probably sealed our fate. Unfortunately with the news coming from the front office I don't have any expectations for seeing a Lombardi Trophy in Buffalo in my lifetime

If it makes you feel better Buckets, I’m 37 and I doubt I’ll see the Bills hoist the Lombardi either. Sucks, but here we are.

People keep throwing the word "accountability" around. That is the point.

And they don't understand what it means.

EDIT: to be clear I have NOT said that everyone who wants Frazier fired is a sheep. That is not the point I am making AT ALL. I have not engaged in that argument. Nor am I blaming the fact people want him out on social media.

I AM however, saying that social media culture causes people to throw words around that they think have binary meaning that don't.

Not firing people does not mean coaches are absolved. That was the specific point I was responding to. That is 100% right. And that is the point I was agreeing with. People can be held accountable for their part in a failure and not fired.

Okay then. You are the Pegulas, Beane and McD. How are you holding Loserly accountable? Challenging his play calling? Telling him he’s got a few weeks into next year? What are you doing? Cuz as you say, one doesn’t have to be fired to be held accountable? What changes things to benefit our team?

  12. 14 minutes ago, GunnerBill said:

Yes I am. And no I'm not.

Okay, so you’re fine with good, but not great. I think most of the rest of us want more. But I guess it’s good for you that you’re happy with getting tossed out every year before the Super Bowl. I’d prefer we take some risks and try to get that Lombardi Trophy we all dream about.

Maybe we shoulda been as risk averse in the draft where we grabbed Josh. Instead of trading up, we coulda stayed put at 22 or whatever and grabbed Mason Rudolph.

  13. 5 minutes ago, GunnerBill said:

    Point proven.

People wants heads on sticks. Do you think the Bills haven't addressed what happened on all units? Do you think they haven't looked at everything? Of course they have. You can hold someone accountable for their performance and still overall not believe it is a reason for them to leave their job.

Are you on drugs? I never said I want Frazier fired but I asked where the accountability is. He has ran back this same garbage scheme that gets lit up in the playoffs time after time and we are supposed to believe he’s being held accountable? Accountable would be seeing some kind of change in philosophy, in the teams aggressiveness, etc. Instead we’ve gotten served up plates of garbage the last 3 playoff exits, in addition to the Colts and Fins playoff games.

I ask again, where is the accountability?

  14. 9 hours ago, GunnerBill said:

The bolded x10. Some people want heads on sticks. They are conditioned in the social media age to think accountability means people being fired. People can be held accountable without losing their jobs.

This is fine, but if there is accountability, where is it? The ST got fired for 13 seconds. Frazier has, to be kind, not coached a good defense in the playoffs all things considered. Yet he trots out the same garbage against high powered offensives and we are supposed to believe he’s being held accountable? What proof do we have of that? Where is this accountability you speak of? If anything, they give the man more and more toys to experiment with to get his defense right and they arguably sucked worse than they ever had before in this latest postseason. While Josh Allen gets stuck with Rodger Saffold and Spencer Brown and Isaiah McKenzie. Gimme a *****in’ break here man.

    • Awesome! (+1) 1
  15. I’m confused as well. So it sounds as if he thinks that we should stick with Frazier cuz basically “it could get worse”? Um. He has a defense stacked with top draft picks and expensive contracts and when they get to the playoffs they might as well be the 2008 Lions or something. Getting lit up every time we play a tough offensive in the playoffs, only exception being the 2020 Ravens who kinda play right into his defensive scheme's strengths.

So I guess our Stampeding friend is just fine with giving up around 30 points a game in the playoffs, whether it be to a washed Phil Rivers, Pat Mahomes, Joe Burrow or Skyler Thompson(!).

We wouldn’t wanna make a change, or next time we might give up 49 points to the Chiefs in the playoffs, which would be “so much worse” than what Leslie has gifted us.

  16. 4 minutes ago, Buffalo_Stampede said:

Can a defense or offense be built better for the regular season than the playoffs?

I’ve also never said it’s not the coaches. I just said I don’t believe you fire the coaches because they lost to Cincinnati and KC. Cincinnati and KC are the best in the AFC. They only lose to each other.

So we should stick with the guy who has shown he hasn’t the slightest clue how to stop those teams when it really matters?

We should be happy with maybe third best in the conference just cuz we were led by even more incompetent buffoons before McD and Frazier showed up? Just be happy we got there, even though we have a generational talent at QB? Ugh.

It worked out the way we thought. He sat the bench as depth and someone we can coach up. You really think he was drafted to start as a rookie? Over Edmunds or Milano?
    🤔

He was in that first Jets game and got absolutely manhandled and embarrassed. There is a reason we didn’t see much of him again. He is greatly undersized and this was a huge reach that failed. I’ll be stunned if Terrell Bernard ever makes an impact play in the NFL. If I’m wrong I’d love to to be shown this one day. Seriously.
