Another thread wanting a RB. With a 1st round pick no less. Unreal.

The Bills drafted a RB three times in the first round from 2003-2010 and were a bad franchise because of it. And so many on here want to repeat those same mistakes.

If we take a RB I want it to be Levante Bellamy in the middle rounds. He has great speed and great production. No high picks on RB.

Yeah, we definitely should have passed up on future Hall of Fame RB Marshawn Lynch in 2007. Or OJ Simpson in 1969, for that matter.

100 Year Anniversary of the NFL. It has to be KC vs GB in a rematch of Super Bowl 1....even if it wasn’t called the Super Bowl that year.

And KC beat Buffalo that year to advance to the AFL-NFL World Championship Game.

Havent seen much of Yannick but I've seen a fair bit of Judon over the years. I like Judon. He sees the field a lot and the Ravens tend to  lean on him. He gets lots of tackles and 9.5 sacks is nothing to sneer at. Not clear to me though that he would'nt be more part of a rotation just based on what all McD seems to do with line players. So his totals would likely go down, including possibly even his sack total. Same could be said about Yannick who also gets lots of snaps, more than he might get here. And how much better is 9.5 or 8 sacks over 6.5 (I know 3 and 1.5 respectively). Judon is right now a better player than Shaq but probably not that much better.  Lawson is also trending up IMO and could continue to improve. He should be entering his prime.

If a good one falls to them in the draft I would expect the Bills to pull the trigger on a prospect. If so, I believe they would try to sign Shaq.

Judon is not much better than Shaq??? Baltimore said they will franchise him if they can't reach a deal:

    Would Buffalo franchise Shaq?

  4. As was reported a few weeks ago, Lamar Jackson bought each of his offensive linemen a Rolex at season's end (despite the fact he was only on a rookie contract).

The article also says in the past, Joe Flacco gifted his linemen things like slurpee machines, grills, and virtual reality machines. Seems like a pretty expensive habit if the QB has to do this each year.

Has Josh done anything similar? And do only the starting linemen get a gift, or the backups too?

I'd die for a slurpee machine. Maybe I need to tryout for Denver's OL, lol.

2.) It seemed as though we thought our depth has gotten better but it's definitely still a weak point of this team in several spots. Our depth at LB, WR, DE, RB, and TE is pretty shallow. We have decent depth at CB/S (I think Marlowe actually played well and Kurt Coleman is fine), OL, and DT. This is something that will get better as our younger guys develop but it seems as though we need depth horribly at DE and LB.

Wasn't there some guy complaining here last month we had no depth at CB?

Also, we seem pretty deep at TE with Knox, Sweeney, Kroft, and Smith.

    Matt Judon, DE/OLB, Baltimore

Very similar player to Bud Dupree, just not as productive. Regardless, Judon is no slouch. He would invigorate that EDGE position and would provide a solid replacement and upgrade left by Lorenzo Alexander

Baltimore said they will tag Judon if a deal cannot be worked out:

It's too unpredictable anyway---every year lots of what looked like the previous year to be marquee prime matchups don't look that way when the following year the games are played.

Most of the televised games are committed by the NFL.  I don't know what games the networks have input on scheduling.

For SNF, the NFL likes to schedule "risky" teams that may suck after the date they are allowed to flex them out in favor of a better match up. That is not always the case, but if the Bills do get SNF, expect it to be in the middle of the season or later.

The thread topic is about the NFL's revenue ("golden goose"), not how the networks make their broadcast rights fees back.  Plus the NFL makes up the schedule.  Most games are locally committed and the national games are set by the league.

The overall viewership annually will be what the networks use to bargain the rates for the next round of broadcast rights fees.  Nothing they can do about who plays when.

The networks do have input on the schedule. The NFL wants to accommodate them to the extent possible to keep them happy. Better ratings mean the NFL gets more in the next contract.

what is a TV revenue king?

The network contracts are set for years at a time, no matter who the "best" teams are.

The network makes more money covering certain teams due to increased viewership. More money means the NFL can get more money from the networks when it is time to re-bid.

I was thinking today about how, if the Bills had sustained some reasonable success after the Kelly years, they could have become one of the "traditional teams" with a really big National (and even International) following, and joined the ranks of the Steelers and Broncos as (though maybe a bit lower ranked) one of those kind of teams.

Denver is so-so for ratings. The big draws in the AFC are New England and Pittsburgh, with huge national followings. In the NFC, it is Dallas and Green Bay, followed by the rest of the NFC East.

It will be very hard for Buffalo to break through without sustained success, and even then...

If I had to make a guess I would say

    1. They will bring back Shaq.

    2. Jordan Phillips tests the market, is disappointed and stays in Buffalo on a 2yr deal around $7M-$8M per year.

    3. Quinton Spain leaves

    4. Kevin Johnson brought back on a 2yr deal.

    5. DE is pursued in free agency. Ngakoue, Beasley, Fowler, Quinn will all be targets.
    6. Receiver and offense in general will be added through free agency and the draft. Still wouldn’t count out an AJ Green trade if he is tagged by the Bengals.

If Spain leaves, Ford will most likely replace him, as he played LG in college and is better at that position. This means we will have to get a good OT.
