  1. I believe they actually changed the rules about going at a guys knees after this because it was so blatant. I'm not seeing it on my schedule so I can't say for sure. Some even referred to it as the "Oliver Rule" if I remember correctly. I remember it and being the most frustrated I've ever been watching sports (saying a lot as I'm a lifelong Rockets fan).
  2. Posted at exactly the same time. What's the saying about great minds?
  3. I realize you're talking to Augie but I'll chime in on what I expect for his rookie year. I'll just go ahead and say that I'm not as knowledgeable of the game as most of you. But I looked up Suh's stats and I expect for him to be close (did he really have 10 sacks his first year?!). I don't think he'll get 10 sacks his first year but I think he'll get somewhere close to that because your (can I start saying "our") team already has a phenomenal defense. But it's not crazy to expect ~8 sacks and a lot of TFL. I think that's where he'll excel, he's so quick and is so great with his hands that he can shed tackles quickly and explode. But I think the best thing about Ed is that he will get better. He really loves to learn.
  4. Very true. He literally could have gone anywhere--Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State. We were on pins and needles the entire time until signing day. But he never wavered. The family is very close and his brother was already at UH. He's a man of his word. That's one of the reasons we loved him at UH (and the city for that matter). We were blessed by having him and I'm happy for you and the city to have him for the foreseeable future.
  5. Yes, I have a lot to learn. I'm hoping I can reach out to one of you vets and find out the best way to approach Sundays. It's going to be an adventure but I'm looking forward to it. As far as lifestyle, I'm from the great state of Texas. Houston, TX. Which is much more similar to Buffalo than it is to NYC. Ed grew up in Houston--and he's country to the core ?
  6. You obviously haven't seen his first game (true freshman) against Oklahoma and Baker Mayfield or Lamar Jackson or the Peach Bowl against Florida State . . . before Applewhite took over ? Not saying he won't have to adjust, he absolutely will, but his work ethic is ideal.
  7. I wish!!! Then I'd be getting free tickets! No, I'm a Coog that watched every single one of his games. We're a G5 school so when the hometown 5 star committed to us (and his older brother, Marcus, was already with us) it was historic. I'm looking forward to tailgating with you guys. I'm up here with my fiancé (NYU MBA candidate) so I'll be making the trip up there alone and hope for some hospitality.
  8. Honestly, I was really disappointed when that happened. Because he had been the model teammate and student throughout. Word was that he was already frustrated with Applewhite about how he was being used (which the entire fan base was too). And part of what makes him a beast is that he NEVER takes a play off--it's just not in him. He's emotional and overflowing with energy. I've interacted with him and his family and I can promise that that was the aberration.
  9. UH alumnus now living in NYC. So pumped that you guys drafted Big Ed. Not sure why he was there at 9 but you guys got a steal. Mark my words, he's a future Pro Bowler. And he will be a fan favorite on and off the field. Good character, hard worker. Any questions about his college career, I"m here. Can't wait to attend my first game. Thanks and go Bills!
