Davis has good hands and feet but too slow and weak to be more than a gadget guy like McKenzie as a change of pace. He has no fight in him and Duke should have been active instead of a limping Davis. We also have Stills that can cheaply replace Brown.

We also let Logan Thomas go to excel in Washington.

The only reason they haven't fired Gase is because he's doing such a good job of losing, why blow it now?
The only win the Jets want is the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes and Adam Gase gives them their best shot at it.

The more I think about it the answer seems obvious on Hail Mary downs we should have the receiver we would use for our own Hail Mary to be on the field because it's just a contested catch and I like having an offensive minded player out there looking to catch the ball or knock it down. This would be an easy adjustment because they are already practicing it on the offense.

Why not put the tallest players out there to defend it Edmonds 6'6" instead of 5'10 White etc?? All they have to do is stand there and knock it away not rocket science.
It should be our best leaping receiver, the Pats would put Gronk on defense for hail Mary's.

It's a shame because I thought he would be our starting TE by the end of this season. Knox has stone hands and makes bonehead plays too often. Sweeney is much better receiver but not sure of his blocking yet.

I like Roberts but his melt down game takes him off the list.

Nonsense about the coaching.
Too early to fully know about either guy, but particularly Flores. If you had to pick one right now you'd go with McDermott. This Bills team has overachieved each of the last three years. Not so far this year but it's still up in the air what will happen this year.
My guess is that you're right about Allen and Tua, but any guess coming after one game's performance is based on such a vast lack of knowledge as to be worth virtually nothing.
The coaching is close as they are both defensive guys and need help on the offense. Fitz turned the team around but Flores learned from him. I don't believe for a minute that it was his decision to start Tua. They want to see if he's the real deal before the draft.

It's like hockey, they have a game in hand and with their easier schedule figure it to be a one game lead. I think the bigger point is stop focusing on the Patriots and pay attention to Miami because for the foreseeable future I think it's a Buffalo/Miami division.

There is a lot correct in that article and the word is the Dolphins want to see if Tua is the guy now because they have Houston's 1st pick and are in he Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. They can always put Fitz back in. They have a much better defense than Buffalo and a better OL that's getting better as they play more together. They have so many new players that I expect them to improve better than the Bills that had a stable staring roster. They have much better kickers too.

I do too.. There was no skipping beat on the Drive Morse went down with Bates at Center.
However the QB trust there with Feliciano manning that pivot likely means he is Center. Now IMO the next best OGs (with Ford out) are Bates and Boettger. Winters needs to find the bench he is solid depth but I dont want him as a starter anymore
I think Feliciano is better at making the line blocking calls than Bates. That what Josh relies on.

The worst trade ever still has to be trading LaManica and Glenn Bass for Tom Flores and Art Powell. It ended the championship years and why we got OJ.

We need another RT free agent, rookies take too long and the OL is critical to success.

So this week.
Levi Wallace inactive (INJ) - Duke Williams activated
Could easily deactivate Perry - Yeldon Activated
Foster stays active like he has been.
Could easily Deactivate Kroft - Sweeney Activated
no said that it won’t happen except likely Duke Williams being activated
he has given more yards than a TB. He also is top 5 in KR and top 10 in PR. Yeah let’s take that production off the field.I said I like him but kick returns are less and for every return out of the end zone 25 yards should be subtracted. I don't think a kick should ever be returned from the end zone because the risk of penalty and injury added to getting to the 25 yard line isn't worth the gamble so it reduces the value of the position. Punt returns are another matter and he is the best returner in a long long time. He also is getting old and missed games this year. My only point is game day roster positions on a under performing office are valuable.

Knox was not really a receiver in college, he was a blocking tight end. I think an off season of good coaching and repetition he will be fine. He has also made some amazing highlight catches and gets open a lot.

Interesting how The Athletic points out all the deficiencies for Duke (running route short, 2 drops, missed block) and then states that he should play.
Duke's blocking is often cited on this board as an additional reason to play him.
Prediction: Duke WIlliams doesn't make the team in 2020. I think they will sign a WR in free agency and draft 2, 1 in first or second round and one in late rounds because the position is stacked in the draft. If they keep 6 WRs they will be:
Brown
Beasley
Free agent WR
1st or 2nd round draft pick
Roberts (for return game)
McKenzie or late round pick
Duke will follow in the great TBD Stadium Wall tradition of Brandon Reilly, Da'Rick Rogers and Naaman Roosevelt and drift into oblivion after the board clamoring for more snaps.
I agree with all but Roberts, I like him but he is a waste of a roster spot. No kickoffs should ever be returned from the end zone and all you need is sure hands for punts. If he can't be a contributing part of an anemic offense why keep him?
-
I agree totally and I live down here in south Florida and watched the worst team in football get their act together and just did something the Bills haven't done in 20 years knocking off the Patriots. They have been winning games by smart offensive play by Fitz with lots of toss it up to Parker and Geseki the tight end and they make the contested catches. We need that in our offense to add to the smurf attack. I think our players are better than Dabols offense.

This is good news for Caldwell the Buffalo guy who built a contender then they hired Coughlin and it went downhill. I still thank them for taking Darius off our hands. I still want to see the two Buffalo GM's do well.

Like many, I was really disappointed by a bad performance by Josh Allen. I also was very annoyed to find many excuses to mask what was clearly a below average QB performance.
But here is the thing, Baltimore’s defense has been playing really well this season - specifically their pass defense. While the offenses has been hyped to epic proportions by the media, the defense flies slightly under the radar. Not unlike Buffalo, their secondary is very good.
In Baltimore’s 9 game win streak here is how opposing QB’s performed vs Baltimore:
Andy Dalton
21/39 239 yards 0 TD/1 INT
Loss 23-17
Russell Wilson
20/41 241 yards 1 TD/1 INT
LOSS 30-16
Tom Brady
30-46 285 yards 1 TD/1 INT
LOSS 37-20
Ryan Finley
16-31 167 yards. 1 TD/1 INT
LOSS 49-13
Deshaun Watson
18-29 169 yards. 0 TD/1 INT
LOSS 41-7
Jared Goff
26-37 212 yards 0 TD/2 INT
LOSS 45-6
Jimmy Garoppolo
15-21 165 yards 1 TD/1 INT
Loss 20-17
Josh Allen
17-39 146 1 TD/0 INT
Loss 24-17
So again, I’m not going to give Allen a pass. He was below average and an average QB performance probably wins this football game. Of course their were protection issues and dropped passes but we need to see more from Josh - especially on those deep passes that he can’t connect.
But outside of Wilson and Brady (2 HOF QB’s), I’m not sure that any of the other QB performances vs. the Ravens wins this football game. Opposing QB’s have not really put up many yards against the secondary, including several “good” offenses who had opportunities to get garbage time yards. In fact, Allen’s bad performance is close to how poorly other QB’s have performed - really bad!
So It’s quite possible that Sunday’s game was simply Allen struggling against a well-coaches, aggressive defense, with 2 very good corners. It was frustrating to see our “franchise QB” play so poorly, but I also don’t think one game is enough of a sample size to overreact.
The part that bothered me about his poor performance was old habits creeping back causing three and outs because he is looking downfield all of the time and not going for first downs but touchdowns. The hero mentality is both good and bad. The worst part is he is throwing long balls that he is terrible on a good day let alone in 30 MPH winds. His long throws should be shelved until next year. He needs work on that. He's young and smart and will be fine.

Make active: Yeldon & Duke!
Make inactive: Any 2 of... DiMarco, Perry, Kroft, Lee.
I don't make Gore inactive, there are others less consequential options.
Add Sweeney to the active list. He is a big target and might have better hands. If Knox doesn't improve his drops he will be throwing a lot of money away because he has the potential to be great and tight ends are becoming the hot thing these days.

The schedule is always based on the previous years performance so we get what we deserve. The previous lack of star power factors in as well, A great defense doesn't excite the networks like a great offense does. Even the Pats are looking boring without offense. This Bills team has a chance to do what the Super Bowl team did and that's win the hearts of so many fans across the country that don't have an NFL team that become Bills fans. I live in south Florida with numerous Bills bars and I talk to many people that are decked out in Bills gear and not from Buffalo.

Speed burners like Brown and Foster can't play every down effectively so they will both get playing time and Foster has size and speed.
-
I think sign him for a couple of years now at a better rate because he will have a break out year with Ed Oliver now in the mix along with Hughes on the other side.

What happened to McKenzie in the playoffs?

I think McKenzie is the perfect replacement for Brown if we can keep him. He would be most affective if he was thrown to more downfield to make the jet sweep a surprise and not the only reason he is in the game. He may not be Tyrek Hill but he is dynamic.
