I live less than 10 minutes from the village.  We hardly ever go, but it is a nice little village.  Sometimes we'll go there, walk around and catch a bite to eat.

Million Dollar beach will be open this weekend.  Other beaches will be open at the end of June, according to the Mayor.

My guess is that by July 4th, things will be back to normal.

I would love to live 10 minutes away from there. But you probably get sick of it after a while. I wonder if they will have their annual Thursday night fireworks this year?

we were going to go to lake george in june, but canceled those.  we spend a lot of time up in the thousand islands at sackets harbor.  i was there last week, and as beautiful as the weather was, none of the restaurants or bars were open obviously.  the problem is a lot will be closed for the entire season.  another popular place burned down and there doesn't seem to be any thoughts on rebuilding.  even the most popular place is up for sale.  there's a large outdoor seating area that looks completely overgrown.  i feel between the flooding the lasts couple of years and now covid...the place has really died out.

Lake George is great! I go there almost every year. I might still go in August. It won't be as fun as it can be, but it can still be fun relaxing at the beach and ordering takeout. Maybe more attractions will open up by then.

My son and I had a week's vacation scheduled in April which, obviously, never happened.

For summer, we'd just planned on our annual 3-day/night weekend in NYC, which is likely not going to happen.  We also have a friend's annual pig roast in western PA scheduled for early August that is still scheduled.

Then there's the early season Bills game (not really summer) that is in jeopardy if the NFL goes fan-less.

Working on a possible fishing trip (2-nights .. maybe 3) with some buddies.

I've taken exactly ONE day off in 2020, so I've got some time and I intend to fill this summer with as much fun as possible with my son.

How often do you go to the  Lake George Village area since being near by?

What I don't get is the idea that opening back up quickly is going to magically fix the economy. I mean when this thing ramps up and more and more people are getting sick and dying who the hell is going to want to be out shopping.

We don't have to open up quickly, we can open up slowly, certain parts in each state. But the bottom line is we need to open up because we can't live like this, being stuck at home. We can still practice social distancing while opening up the nation slowly. If people want to go on a vacation this summer, then they should have the right to, most hotels are open, summer comes once a year, and we only get this good weather for a short amount of time. Call me selfish, I don't care because if I wear a mask or practice social distancing then how am I  being selfish? Why would I stay inside on a nice summer day, even hanging out in your yard gets boring after a while.

What does "with caution" mean?  It's vague.  It's like saying "our seniors will be tenderly protected" - does that mean anything in terms of action to lower infection risk, like testing workers and ensuring they are provided with proper PPE and dorm/hotel room places to isolate should they be infectious?

What does it mean to you?

To me, I think people should get out - we go for a 1.5-3 mile walk every day - but should follow the current CDC advice to wear a mask AND be trying damned hard to stay 6 feet apart.  If they can't, maybe they're in a situation that's too crowded and they should go somewhere else.  How is saying "oh, 6 feet apart just impossible" consistent with caution?

Do you wear a mask in your yard? Most people I see outside walking or in parks/yards don't wear masks. If you are outside and are 6 feet apart from people, why is a mask necessary? Also I bring this up because with good weather around the corner, people will want to get out and go to beaches and big groups will form and it will be tough to stop.

That is why of we had to be locked down in the first place. People just don't get the 6 ft rule. This may be harsh but I hope everyone of them get it. Karma.

That's a stupid comment to say, The beautiful weather is starting to arrive and you except people to stay inside? 6 feet apart is impossible at all times. It's time to start opening up but slowly and with caution.

  6. The only sport I can see working for the 2020 season is golf. Golf with no fans. It's easier to practice social distancing with golf. Football has a small chance unless the vaccine comes out in the fall but even then there would be precautions.

I would hope before summer. We are looking at global recession now but how long it will last depends in part how quickly the world can get moving again. I don't know if it will be later this month (I hope so but I don't think so) but I would like to think by May some businesses start up again. Large gatherings like sports and concerts will probably be the last thing to open up. I haven't heard any official announcement but the NHL/NBA 2019-20 season has to be finished. Baseball might get a shortened season in. I would imagine they would need 2-4 weeks of training camp before starting the season. Hoping a full NFL season can be saved.

Pretty much no chance for large gatherings at concerts, sporting events, festivals and amusement parks for this summer. Believe me it sucks.

The most frustrating thing here is that there is still no national plan in place for how long this lasts and how to come out of this.

Even this would be ok to me:

    1. We need to have this stockpile in place at hospitals: # ppe. # tests. # beds.

    2. We need this on hand as national stockpile to move as needed. # of this and that including ventilators. Also treatment drugs.

    3. We need quarantine centers set up in regions that have clear rules about intake and how to use them.

    4. We need testing centers separate from 1 and 3 with # tests.

    5. We need everyone to get on board with tracking contacts for a time and here’s our system for doing that.

Once  we have 1-5, we will *start* to reopen the economy sector by sector while encouraging as much distancing as possible.

There will be outbreaks. People will end up back in quarantine In clusters. But this is the plan to both reopen and stay on this.

This has to be centralized and it needs to be out there soon so we know what the timing is. The above is the Korea plan. It’s not novel.

Healthcare workers, the economy, patients. We all need this plan. If we just reopen in two weeks in a kind of free for all, the last few weeks bought us time only to do #1 and maybe a little of the others but not in an organized way so it was a sacrifice without much purpose. That would be tragic. This shutdown should be for a definitive reason with clear goals.

This is the right plan, but it will be a long ongoing process to get there unfortunately. It seems that NY State is getting hit the most, meaning that it is entering it's peak. Meaning that we will be on the better side of it hopefully.
