their QB room since Big Ben left…..

Hey man, at least they’re consistently trying to find an answer instead of acquiring a guy and riding it out way too long.

At least they didn’t do the Denver way and give up insane premium assets to just cut ties before 2 seasons are up.

FA QB market dried up quickly, but a 2025 6th?? Would’ve been better off keeping him, and waiting to see if a team’s QB gets hurt in Training Camp

I guess Wilson starting isn’t a lock for Pittsburgh

Yeah, whether you’re a fan of Fields or not I would have believed they could have at least gotten a 4th rounder for him at a minimum and thought they wouldn’t get rid of him for anything less.

Sure it has the potential to get to that but who knows if they make moves to prevent that from being the case by either starting Wilson to cap the games or pulling the plug if they’re just plodding along

Steelers have made some interesting moves regarding the QB position alone this past week…

I actually think Jax overpaid Armstead and Davis and will regret both those moves.

Yeah, they did. But they improved for the most part. Savage, Darby, Armstead, Duvernay, Davis and Morse improve the roster from where they were at come the start of FA.

They may have paid a bit more but in comparison to some of those other teams who were the head scratchers, they didn’t grossly overpay.

  4. Marvin Harrison Jr.,    Ohio State - Bears

    Rome Odunze,          Washington - Chargers

    Ladd McConkey,             Georgia - Ravens

Brian Thomas Jr.,                  LSU - Colts

    Xavier Worthy                      Texas - Chiefs

Bonus, Buffalo Bills pick:  Johnny Newton, Illinois

Surprised you don’t have Nabers on here… Think he goes to Arizona.

Yes probably cost more … don’t think the Bills will pay much more however . He has played his entire career with a bad team and never made the playoffs …he has made a lot of money …

Trying to find where I read it this morning from my internet history, but the talk was apparently Green Bay have reached out to him.

EDIT:  They haven’t reached out to him yet, it’s reported they are simply keeping an eye on him by Bill Huber, Sports Illustrated’s Packers reporter since 2008

I certainly prefer him to Chop.

Was actually hoping he would be there @ 60…

After his combine there’s no way that’s a possibility unless he has a pro day, bombs it and/or gets injured.

Wilson still sucks.  He should have retired 3 years ago

Eh, he isn’t great but I think he can be competent on that Steelers team.

Decent defense, great skill players. They just needed average play last year and they get in the playoffs…

No different than Denver the year they acquired Wilson… I remember reading a statistic that if they averaged 20.5ppg, providing the defenses played the same each game, they would have walked away with the number 1 seed.

Wilson needs a productive run game to be successful at this point in his career. That 2022 season their whole RB room; Javonte Williams, Murray, Gordon & Edmonds were injury prone.

Same last season. Inconsistent run game.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that Wilson will turn it around but the play from those 2 years was better than Pittsburgh had… Couple that with what should be a reasonable game that can support his deficiencies and it could work out.

I've made no secret my affinity of Cornelius Johnson, I also like WR Bub Means and RB Isaiah Davis.

Yeah Means is someone I’ve looked at, thought he was pretty sound for Pitt this past season. Asked in the WR Class thread what people thought of him.

Seems to be a no-name to most.

Probably for good reason too though. I like him but his game is very simple. Not much versatility.

    Russell Wilson wasn’t much better.

He has been bad the past 3 seasons.  And because he is going to Pittsburgh, Mr overrated Mike Tomlin is going to get more out of him.  Riddle me that??

Whether you like Mr. Unlimited or not, he’s proven to have some success in the league.

Pickett? They got enamored in taking a guy the fans wanted who played in their yard. Don’t think he’s awful but he certainly wasn’t what they expected and hoped for...

When you put it on paper as Wilson vs. Pickett, the Steelers are taking one step up from starting from scratch. A competent QB should have had some success with the weapons he had at his disposal. Blame Canada, blame Tomlin, blame Pickett. All 3 played their part. Best thing they did is admit it wasn’t working out the way the planned and moved on.

Do wonder though if Pickett voicing his dislike for the Wilson signing is what ultimately played the part in them moving on… He probably could have found some value sitting behind Wilson. Probably going to find more on that Eagles squad and Hurts however.

There's a plethora of GREAT WRs that ran slow 40s. Rice, Boldin are 2 that comes to mind

They said the same about Metcalf, DHop, Michael Thomas about not separating from coverage. Catching the ball is job #1

Boldin might honestly be one of my favorite receivers from the past 20 years.

Tough, consummate professional. Takes some cojones to get your face absolutely shattered and only miss 3 games. Insane.

"big WR who can block, get deep, win contested throws, catch the ball in clutch moments, and block downfield"

you first listed a bunch of WR1s (except Higgins, Watson...).

A fraction of those guys might do everything/fit all criteria on the poster's wish list. a good number   of them aren't over 6 feet tall, for starters.

The second group has several depth guys. less likely to check all those boxes

Oh so now they have to be something other than a #1? Lol

Whteher they are a number 1 or not is irrelevant. Neither was them having to be 6”1+…

6”0 is plenty when you couple that with their weight of 215lbs+.

Keep changing it until the narrative is exactly where I’m wholly wrong. 🤘

I think NE is passing on a QB which is dumb but maybe it’s to get McCarthy ahead of the Giants but either way it’s a dumb decision one way or the other

Would be stupid to. Like you said in your first post, they can’t be thoroughly impressed going into the year with Brissett and Zappe…

You might be right that they are the most likely to trade out of it but who knows…

JJ McCarthy seems logical here for the inevitable trade up

Do you think he is gone top 10 then?

  13. I mean what do they do?

    It’s likely QB’s first 3 picks, right?

    Williams, Maye, Daniels…?

Washington isn’t trading out of the top 3 and after the Mac Jones trade, can’t see them doing it either. So do they trade to the #1 spot?

11, 23, 2025 first? Or do they need to give up more?

Maybe they just stand pat and see if any of them fall past those teams then jump into 4 or 5 with AZ or NYG.

    Imagine AZ trade out… Man they would be absolutely stacked in this draft. 11, 23, 27, 35, 66, 71 & 90….

At work now so I’ll dig more into it later but it’s obvious watching hollywood, he continually takes the top off the defense. Yes both he and Samuel have had suspect QB play that you have to take into account when evaluating them but they are clearly 2 different flavors of WR. Samuel is fantastic with the ball in his hands but hasn’t shown he’s a go route or even a great route runner period. He’s consistently been 2nd fiddle to any other WR on his team which is fine but for our offense and what we do well Hollywood Brown is a better route runner and a consistent deep threat. All you have to do is watch any game he’s playing in and you’ll see that. His availability is his biggest weakness. I don’t think either player is amazing but I do think both can help any offense if used correctly.

My biggest point that given the money and skill set I’d prefer the guy that does something we don’t have right now over the guy who could supplant Shakir in the same role. If you disagree I’m sorry we don’t see it the same but that’s what I see from watching both players for years. I hope Brady finds a way to get the most out of both Samuel and Shakir on the field at the same time.

Lastly, I don’t think getting either player means the bills or chiefs are done with WRs. Both teams will and should draft multiple in this years class so they have real cheap weapons for their franchise QBs future

I agree he’s a talent just that I don’t see him as much of a downfield/vertical threat. Neither is Samuel.

Both their bread and butter is in the intermediate and underneath game. Decent receivers but not exactly a guy of that style who comes to mind.

The very first qualifier was "who can block" and I'd say half those guys don't block. George Pickens alone invalidates that entire list.

If those guys fit your criteria, Diggs absolutely does as well.

    😂

    Very petulant of you…

A list of 19 teams and one guy invalidates it all because you feel he doesn’t block. He might not block regularly but he does and can

You know what, I’m not even going to waste my time. If you dismissed the whole list because of one guy then good on you.

Simple thing, teams having that isn’t as rare as you made it out to be.

    see above

lol everyone wants that.  How many teams have it?

Quite a few, from the top of my head without much thought I can come up with 13 teams.

    Justin Jefferson, Minnesota

    Jamar Chase/Tee Higgins, Cincinnati

    DJ Moore, Chicago

    Brandon Aiyuk, San Fran

    DK Metcalf, Seattle

    AJ Brown, Philadelphia

    Mike Evans, Tampa

    George Pickens, Pittsburgh

    Amari Cooper, Cleveland

    Amon St. Brown, Detroit

    Chris Olave, New Orleans

    Christian Watson, Green Bay

    Puka Nacua, LA Rams

    That’s over a 1/3 of the NFL.

Could even go further and add other guys like:

    Michael Wilson, Arizona

    CeeDee Lamb, Dallas

    Nico Collins, Houston

    Josh Palmer, LA Chargers

    Courtland Sutton, Denver

    Drake London, Atlanta

Thats well over half the league that have a guy who does all of what he suggested…

Not that much of a rarity.

    🤷‍♂️

I think Hollywood brings the vertical threat we need to this offense and the eye test shows when healthy he’s the more dynamic player.

What makes you believe that? I don’t see the deep threat you do but I am intrigued as to how you are at that view.

Also, injury wise he’s been relatively healthy out with the fractured foot his first year in AZ. Came back and seemed to be fine.

I think he’s a solid player, don’t get me wrong. But the only season he had worth of note was the year prior to the trade. That season they targeted him 146 times. 146!

Mark Andrews had 7 more targets but came away with 350 more yards…

So again, I’m very curious how you are at the conclusion he would have been a solid vertical threat for this team?

Brian Thomas will be WR2.  Samuel will be WR3 in multiple roles. Shakir will trade off slot or outside WR4.

Going to have to trade up if you want him. Can’t see him making it to #20 with all the recent moves and a great combine workout for him make that a certainty.
