If we move into the 2 or 3 spot, I think your right, that's probably what we are going to have to offer to take the Rosen, Allen or Mayfield.  It gets interesting if the Browns take Barkley at 1 instead of Darnold.

Most def!! 2 things, first, saquon Barkley too good to pass up and won't slide. They like 2 qbs, darnold and Allen, they take Barkley bc they are guaranteed to have either QB at 4. 2nd, the taste of Tyrod signals they'll take Allen or Darnold bc they need time, and Tyrod is a very good bridge QB/backup

Maybe that's how you'd do it, but I doubt that's what the Bills will do.

Beane has been very clear - you get more talent with picks than you do in free agency.   So I don't see him following a course where he trades lots of picks so he can end up with lots of cap room to get free agents.   That's exactly backward from what he's said all along.  I think he signs a QB who will be a starter in September, he keeps his picks and drafts a lot of talent, including a QB.

I agree. The draft is the way!! That's the reason we can get Rosen!! Why don't people see this?? Yes, it's expensive, but it's the most important position, in all of sports!!!

I haven't seen any lines to read through. Just smoke so far.

McD is the king of coachspeak. He never shows his hand.

Me too! Smoke and reading bw the lines is the same thing. Apply logic and realism, then draw conclusions.

    • Thank you (+1) 1
  2.  QB Position:

    • Clearly,  they're going BIG game hunting. They want a terrific young  Franchise  QB (as evidence with all the draft capital), that can not just win games, but win championships!!
    • They also want a valued backup (Phily being the copycat in a copycat league). Sure you'll  here names like Bradford, Keenum, but someone like McCown or Matt Moore are probably the guys that will backup. Bradford probably wants to start, same with Keenum, but the main  thing here is which QB takes the least amount of money,  which means probably Moore or McCown.

How do they  get into the top 5??:

    • 1 of 2 ways. If Cleveland takes Barkely @1, (which I predict they will) then the Giants, IMHO, will give serious consideration  to Buff trade. Deal is NY Giants get: 21, 22, 53, 2019 3rd, & Cordy Glenn  OR.... Indy gets:  21, 22, 53, 65, 2019 2nd

    Draft??

    • The way we look at it, we give up ALOT, but it's still a normal draft. We have picks in the 1st,  2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round. We may loose a future 2, 3, or maybe even a 1, but with the trade of Glenn we will have alot of cap room in 2019 to fill in  those holes/picks. Not to mention we'll obtain at least 2, possibly more comp picks for guys like Gaines, P.Brown, if they walk.

    Free Agency:

    • No big names, but they'll try WR, but IMO, the market is way too high, which is why I think they'll target DJ Moore, or Anthony Miller in the 2nd round. Probably fill Preston Brown role with a guy like Avery Williamson. I think  they'll also  try to find a FA off lineman.

In short, trade up to #10 with Oakland and grab Baker Mayfield and keep #22.

Grab LB Rashaan Evans at #22

Grab DT Harrison Phillips at #53

Grab C Frank Ragnow at #56 ( don't know much about him but I disagree, especially with WR Christian Kirk still on the board)

Who wouldn't be happy with this?

Oh yeah! That would be amazing

Your username fits the post. Refusing to take a shot at a franchise qb in a draft loaded with top end qb talent, picking the types of players that will be available in literally every draft class ever, and going with a retread of some sort to continue the mediocrity we've become accustomed to is pretty much punting the offseason away.

Next years qb class looks awful at this point, and other than Cousins (who's not an option) there is nobody available in free agency or trade that would fit the bill as a franchise passer. If there was ever a time to make a move and get your guy, this is the time.

    Well said!!!

  5. Difficult decisions involve  difficult situations! There are alot of dynamics like you have VERY correctly & informatively pointed out. These dynamics  make it difficult, but....

    1. we have more draft capital than any team in the NFL

    2. IMHO, we want a top tier franchise QB at the top of this draft

    3. we realize the cost, but the cost of not taking advantage of our draft capital & this strong QB class is very foolish

    4. Beane & McDermott are very smart & methodical, and they know how important it is for this franchise to move forward, and the best way to do that, is by having a very good QB

  6. Good news!! For a few reasons.

    1. Ivory  is a good player, and a nice option for short yardage/goal line

    2. Eliminates or severely decreases the need for an early  round pick being  spent on  a RB, now we  can  draft another positional need

    3. our FO is demonstrating very good presentation. 2 visits, and 2 signings!!

    4. we can get rid of Tolbert!!

Great job. Would love this draft.

To those saying "too rich for my blood": Really? Bills acquire a franchise QB and still get to have basically a regular draft this year. Yes, they lose next year's 1st, but you have to give up something to gain something. In this case, that "something" has been missing in Buffalo since 1997: a franchise QB!

I just can't believe, after 21 years of futility, that anyone would still be gun-shy about acquiring a QB just because some draft picks need to be given up. How long do the Bills sit back and be content with second third tier passers? Sheesh!

I hope the draft goes exactly as written in the OP (with, of course, the adjustment to the second round since we give up one of those picks).

First, I fixed my draft. I'm too used to doing a trade @ 4 or 5 where we don't give up any of our 2nd  round picks, but I carelessly forgot to proof read my post b4 I posted!! I did edit my post, and had us taking Phillips (and deleted my pick of Jamarco Jones).

Second, I 100% echo your comments!! This  team has had one of the worst situations at QB in the entire league for 20 years. We've tried trades (Bledsoe), we've tried mid-first round picks (EJ), we've tried 2nd round QB's (Trent Edwards), and our favorite FA qb's (Tyrod, Kyle Orton, Kolb, etc, etc). I'm not saying that the only way you get a franchise QB is to draft into the top 5, but with this year's group of QB's, and with so many teams lining up to draft a QB, we've got to assure ourselves we get the guy we really, really want.

If the Bills FO loves Rosen, then by all means go get him. The price tag is huge, but franchise QB's don't just fall into your lap.

IDK my perfect off season is getting Cousins or one of the guys from Mini. and build around him in draft.

I don't think we have the cap space, nor the want to sign the soon  to be highest paid player in the NFL. The Minnesota QB's are a HUGE gamble IMO. Bridgewater is a huge injury risk, plus is he a much better option than TT?? Bradford, IMHO, is way beyond damaged goods, and Keenum could be a product of system & good WR's.

  9. Truth be told, these are probably,  as  hard as  I try, hopes & not so much predictions. I am a realist, but still, I always  lean to the side of a dreamer when it comes to the  Bills &  Sabres. Hope  you enjoy reading, and  hope many of  you chime in with your  predictions. Go Bills!!

FA Signings: LB NaVarro Bowman, OL Andrew Norwell,  and WR Jeremy Maclin, Kyle Williams stays for another year

FA losses: EJ Gaines, Preston  Brown, Jordan Matthews

Re-sign: Deonte Thompson, Colt Anderson, Ramon Humber, Leonard Johnson,

    Draft: Trade 21, 22, 53,  2019 1st, &  Cordy Glenn to NYG

RD 1: Josh Rosen (2nd overall),

    RD 2: Harrison Phillips DT

    RD 3: Donte Jackson CB

    RD 4: Rashaad Penny RB

RD 5: Deon Cain WR, Troy Fumagalli TE

I'm fairly confident they know 10 times more about the QB situation than anyone on this site.

They are going to do their best to get someone and I hope things fall the right way.

I am starting to think that Beane and McDermott may be the best GM/HC we have had since Polian/Levy.

I wasn't saying we, the fans, know as much as McBeane do. What I am saying here is that, the fans, and management, know what QB's are tier 1, 2, 3,  etc.

Well if they like him yes.  But that is targeting 3.

All I'm saying is OBD needs to have plan ABC and D for getting a QB this year.

I'll add all this draft talk is meaningless until we see what happens with the FA QB's.

We all will know a lot more in 2 weeks.

I think they do. They know the landscape just like you and I do. I believe that Rosen is their target, but I also think they like Allen/Darnold/Mayfield, in that order. I think it all depends on how the draft shakes out.

As it looks now, there is an average chance Cleveland takes Barkely 1st, and then the Giants pass on QB, which then opens up so many trade down possiblities for us
