Forget about Lamar Jackson.....is Rashaan Evans worth a first round pick?

Yeah.  He will be the best LB from this draft.  Can do it all and play inside or outside.

I expect Jackson to be available in the 2nd rd. He just does not have the vision, accuracy, mechanics or anticipation worthy of a 1st rd pick.. He has a high ceiling and is a gifted athlete but way to risky to spend a 1st rd pick on.

I gotta laugh when I read this stuff.  The guy throws for over 300 yds per game, runs for 100 plus per game, wins a Heisman, has a cannon got an arm, has the size ..... but he lacks in all these areas above. Come on .  Kelly had a worse completion percentage coming out.

I would love to see him with the Bills.  He is twice the player Tyrod is.  Get him some receivers, a tight end and we’ll have a great offense.

They are trading up and doing it for a Quarterback.  What will be interesting is how they approach the rest of the draft after that point.

If they do, you won't have to worry about the rest of the draft.  There will be no decent picks left.

    High level meetings?  ;)

Because it will take at least 3 first round picks and more....the Bills will not be stupid enough to do it.   The Bills desperately need help at OL, WR, DL, LB, and RB.  The roster will have a have a huge turnover.   There will be a QB available without selling the farm.....and Beane will take him at 21 or 22.

Right or wrong, this is where my mindset is.  If this team were simply a QB away from feeling like they're a Superbowl contender, AND they thought one of the 5-6 QB's that we're talking about were significantly better than all the others (let's say "can't miss" kind of better), then a trade happens.  What I'm stuck on right now in that context is all of the apparent positions of need for this team, deferring obviously to whatever happens in free agency.  I think they're weak on 2 OL positions and arguably 3.  Defensive tackle has to be a consideration, along with linebacker and another corner.  Based on the needs and the frequency of early draft picks, I'm not sure I can get there to move up.  I also don't see a QB that separates themselves from the other 4-5.

You're right.  Beane will let the draft come to him.  Sit tight with our picks and get BPA.  There are wayyyy too many holes on this team.  There will be a good QB available at 21.

  5. As much I'd love to see Cousins here, there's NO chance in Hades that he will want to come to Buffalo.   The weather, a defensive minded coach, worst WR group in the league.   He'll be able to chose between Denver, Arizona, Jets, possibly Jacksonville....I'd bet he moves on to Arizona.

I think that Jackson may well turn out to be the best of a good and deep QB class. My gut tells me that Beane likes him too. Ideally he would sit and develop for a year behind a vet. But these days first round QBs are more often press ganged into service immediately. If the Bills drafted him I'd be surprised if they invested in the kind of vet FA QB who might be expected to play for years as a starter. A vet backup would essentially mean that Jackson would probably be starting and learning on the fly. Perhaps not ideal but D. Watson has said that Jackson is capable of doing what he can do, and I believe that.

I think the only QB in this class who is good to go day one with the least transition friction is Rosen assuming the offence he runs is built for a classic pocket passing/WC offence QB (which in his case is pretty much the only logical assumption).

I expect that Jackson is already viewed by the talent evaluators of QB needy teams much more highly than the talking heads would lead you to believe. I think that sentiment will only gain momentum in the next couple of months so I don't think he will fall to us at 21. He could go much earlier in the first.

Jackson is the best QB in this draft and will have the best career.  Most people hold him against him that he is an amazing runner.  I'll take it ......I also believe he's the best passer in this draft (equal with Rosen).

OMG... Avoid this possibility at all costs. After watching him the past two years ( I live in the Louisville area) we would be making yet another big mistake. He'll bring some running ability but he's slower than Taylor. Has a published college time of 4.78. He's not like Taylor in one area though, he has no problem turning the ball over. Tebow / Andre Ware II.

He blows Taylor away....please.  He will be a great pro.

No effing chance that Lamar runs a 4.78.

Agreed, I'm betting 4.4-4.5.  He's the fastest QB I've ever seen...Vick included.  And the best arm in the draft.   Needs better accuracy...we'll see.  I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I personally love Lamar Jackson. He has a live arm and has show the ability to throw with anticipation. He is my #2 QB behind Baker mayfield, who i think is the next Drew Brees.

Lamar Jackson is every bit as good, or better than Vick(#1 overall pick) when he came out and I would love to see him as our selection at the 22nd pick if he makes it that far. It seems like the league is getting away from mobile QBs, so he may be available?

Jackson is going to Run sub 4.5 and he is 6' 3" with a cannon. Don't try to compare him to Tebow or Taylor, much more comparable to Vick or Newton

I second that......I rate Rosen and Jackson the top two QB's

    Hey bills fan

So after watching the pro bowl and seeing McCoy.

I was thinking that he has probably 4 good years left maybe 3 but Tolbert IMO won’t be back

watching the NFC champ game  McKinnon is a solid back to have behind shady we could have a great two headed monster again that will open things up for the (new QB or TT) and maybe even draft a RB in this years draft (very heavy draft class for RBs)

I hope our Bills get someone

    fingers crossed for McKinnon

    GO BILLS!!!!!!

I disagree.....Rashaad Penny would be the perfect complement to McCoy and be able to take over the #1 role within a couple seasons.

Julio Jones is a rare specimen, Ridley was said to have ran a 4.59 at his college 40 yard dash which is still pretty decent for a guy 6'3" 224 lbs imo http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2016/03/calvin_ridley_40_time_among_no.html

I think Ridley is more comparable to Larry Fitzgerald then Julio Jones, Jones had ridiculous blazing speed where Ridley has great hands and can run out the routes with ease.

 Those numbers are not for Ridley. Six-foot-3, 224-pound redshirt junior Cooper Bateman, athletic enough that Alabama briefly moved him to wide receiver last spring, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds.

Correct...Ridley is a thin-framed speed burner.  He has a huge YPC and would be STEAL at #21.   He'd fit in perfectly with Benjamin and Jones.  He will not be there for us though..

    I can agree with that.

I wasn’t arguing that the Bills need to keep him, but he is a good productive starting NFL WR, at least in my opinion.

To me, this seems like a draft to wait on the WRs. Ridley may be the best of the bunch, but as a 24 year old rookie, I'm not sure he's really worth a 1st round pick. For the Bills, I'm looking for a guy with a decent size/speed combo that can line up out wide. Some of the guys in the middle of the draft that I like are:

Auden Tate - 6'5", solid speed, potential matchup nightmare

Marcel Ateman - 6'4", solid speed, he impressed me more than James Washington at OKST. Seems to have potential as a downfield/red zone target; he'll be in the Senior Bowl.

J'Mon Moore - 6'3", solid speed. He was on the receiving end of a lot of Drew Lock TDs this year. I like him a lot; he'll be in the Senior Bowl.

Daurice Fountain - 6'1", 210, he lit it up at the East-West Shrine practices, had 61 yards on 3 catches in the actual game. He looks like he has some really good hands in the videos I've seen of his, has a 40" vert, long wingspan, and supposedly has great speed.

Don't like them so much as I'm biased towards them/am interested in learning more about them:

Steve Ishmael - I'm a Syracuse grad. I'm not sure Ish is able to separate the way you want in the NFL, but he has amazing hands and is really well-built at 6'2", 210.

Jaleel Scott - Small school guy, 6'6"; will be at the Senior Bowl

Jake Wieneke - Small school guy, 6'4", was a standout at East-West Shrine practices, insane 16 TDs this past season

I like Parris Campbell....can be had in later rounds.  Incredible athlete, 6'1", 208 lbs with speed to burn.  Hurt by Ohio State offense running attack.

I don't consider Mayfield a pocket passer either even though he's not in this discussion. We have had a mobile QB with accuracy issues for the past few years and it hit it's ceiling this year even though Tyrod didn't have a great year we made the playoffs in spite because of his lack of turnovers. Lamar has shown that he does take chances and does throw down the field unfortunately without great accuracy he'll probably be a career backup somewhere (Joe Webb). Rudolph is more of the prototypical passer that stands in the pocket and has decent accuracy from what I've watched I like his ability.

Finally, someone who know what he’s talking about.  Mayfield is NOT a pocket passer .  He throws on rollouts more than any of the top 6 QB’s.

Howver, Jackson is terrific from the pocket.  There is a misconception by many that he is a running QB only.  He has a cannon for an arm and is the best running QB I’ve ever seen.  I think we will be a great pro.

Do not get so caught up with the 40 times for LB's,  the short & long shuttle is a better judge of their in the box quickness & change of direction...I also think being a film junkie (to diagnose plays in the game) and instincts are better characteristics for a LB.

4.8 is "Preston Brown" type slow.....no thanks.

6’2 240.  Great build.  Aggressive, tough and instinctive. Has a nose for the ball and is capable in zone coverage.  Been watching videos and I’d love to snatch him in rd 3-5 (because that’s where I’ve seen him mocked) although I think he could rise to rd 2.

Anyone scout him or watch him extensively? I’m wondering if he fits best as a SLB or. MLB In this defense.  Is he good enough in coverage to be an asset in pass D or is he a detriment?

As ive said before, I’m really excited about the prospects of completely retooling the front 7 this offseason.  2 new LB, 2 new DTs and a new DE.  Who are they going to be and how do they fit?

any feedback on Kiser would be appreciated. Or maybe another Lb you love that could be our next MLB or SLB

I like Rashaan Evans.  Bigger, stronger than Roquan Smith...not quite as fast but he looks dam fast enough to me.  Can rush AND cover.

Vea is not a "3-TECH" DT so does not fit the system. Sorry folks. Hurst, Wilkins and Nnadi are players that fit the defense. Wilkins is a junior from Clemson, and Bills have bad luck with Clemson players, Nnadi is a senior and fits the system.

Wilkins can do it all and 6'4", 310 lbs.   Vea is a monster run stuffer, Hurst is an Aaron Donald type.  If I could have Vea AND Hurst, that would be perfect.  Another guy to watch is D'Ron Payne.  This draft is loaded with D-tackles....would like to see the Bills get two of them .  And Rashaan Evans.

The problem is, we actually need 2-3 linebackers who CAN fly around and make plays...so, besides Milano, where are we getting those?

We rebuilt the entire secondary last offseason, I'd like to do the same this offseason with our group of linebackers.

I want a legitimate stud LB, a 1st or 2nd round beast to put in the front-7...too bad Roquan Smith wouldn't fall far enough, he's the only real stud that fits.

Rashaan Evans fits.  Watch his tape.  He's a beast.  Could play inside or out.   235 lbs.   and he might fall tot he 2nd round.  I like him better than Smith.

  13. Keenum, Norwell and Butler, would be my preference.  As along as there's no top 6 available when we draft ...add those three to these 5 picks and I'd be dancing:

1- C. Wilkins (DT) or M. Hurst (DT)

    1 - R. Evans (LB)

    2- D. Payne (DT)

    2 - D. Goedert (TE)

    3 - R. Penny (RB)

    4 (trading both 5ths) - M. Gallup (WR)
