Seeing Brian Thomas Jr. at 15 still kills me

Also seeing Jefferson go on to have the career he’s had when he was the Bills pick. He’s who I wanted had the Bills kept their pick. Didn’t know he’d turn into the superstar he is but I was high on him being a potential WR1.  Beane has gotten us by with trades and free agency with WR but he has been dreadful with scouting and evaluating WRs in the draft. Loved Thomas jr and Mcconkey and we got neither. Also loved Addison and we ended up with Kincaid. There are other examples as well.

I'd have gone up for BTJ. I am on record with that. I'd have gone up for Addison the year before too.

Gotcha. I thought the same. It’s just kind of surprising to me that after all these years they made a trade for Diggs which in hindsight wasn’t as good as it should have been(should have selected Jefferson) and failed to identity a guy they liked and went out and drafted. The fact they traded back and scooped up Coleman didn’t really inspire confidence in that pick.

I thought he was an ordinary prospect, I'm sorry to say. I like this year's first three picks a LOT better than I liked last year's.

Elijah Moore would give you that, and if Shakir can stay healthy give you some snaps outside too. I like that idea more the more I think about him.

So sounds like they should have traded up for Brian Thomas last year or at least drafted Mcconkey who is actually good. Would you rather have Coleman, Carter or Brian Thomas? The part that Beane is missing in all of this as he has failed to identify WRs in the draft since he has arrived. If Coleman flames out and he is the only Wr drafted in the top 3 rounds during Beane’s tenure then that is crazy.

Pete, he’s addressed this point repeatedly. They liked a few receivers but at pick time they were gone. He’s not finished building the team but it’s already much better in April than it was in January.

But that’s been their go to statement since 2019. For some reason they tend to punt on WR. When is enough going to be enough? Even with Coleman they traded down for Christ sakes lol. It wasn’t like they identified and went and got their guy. And in that class I wanted Mcconkey who also already looks ahead of Coleman.

  5. People saying we cannot criticize are ridiculous IMO. In truth we haven't won anything yet. Yes they have been exciting to watch and a good team but they have fallen short every time of reaching their goals. The 90s team did as well and they deserved criticism as well. Probably most deservingly on Marv Levy.

Or, why they struggle with college WR evals and just decide not to pick those guys because it's too risky.  Unlike about 30 other teams.

Agreed for some reason they just cannot scout the position hence the trade for Diggs in the first place.

  7. Jeremy and Joe handled this well. I get Brandon might be annoyed by all the WR talk but it's justified IMO. The QB is set, the o-line is set, the RB are set, the TE are set. The only question marks come at the WR position. We lost 2 of our better WR not named Shakir from last year. We hope Coleman takes another step, we hope, Palmer takes another step, we hope Samuels takes another step. The position is a huge question mark and maybe it works out but it's clearly average at best to below average talent.

I was very happy that they took the direction of going heavy on the defensive side and the defense is clearly a problem but I still was hoping for WR picked within their first 3 or 4 picks. Now we have Elijah Moore coming in for a visit which is nice so I don't get the freak out by Beane.

If we are being real Beane has done a ***** job addressing WR over his stay. He has performed poorly when targeting and going and getting their WR that they liked. They screwed up last year by not going up and grabbing Brian Thomas, in 2023 they screwed up and didn't trade up and get their guy. There were multiple guys there that would have worked out but Addison was the guy I liked the most. 2022 they could have had Pickens or Watson and picked Elam a huge bust. In 2020 I really liked Justin Jefferson and low and behold he fell right where the Bills would have been picking. I know people will say trading for Diggs was the right move and it did work out to an extent but I have been firmly in the camp especially when Josh was younger to just drafting young WRs that Josh could grow with. It's always pissed me off listening to Beane be like well we don't draft high enough to get a player like Chase but they literally traded out of the Justin Jefferson pick and have been a few slots away from countless others. IMO Beane has been a massive failure in terms of building this WR room. That said maybe we win the Super Bowl regardless.

Also I'll add so people know I would have stayed put in the second round and went Darius Alexander and Jaylin Noel or Kyle Williams. Tai Felton as another guy I thought maybe they could trade back into the end of the third and grab. Jalen Royals went in the fourth and Tory Horton went in the fifth. I don't get Beane saying there weren't any WRs with good grades available anywhere in the draft.

  8. Would like Harmon to fall to us but isn’t shaping up great. I do not like the safety’s or most of the corners except for Amos. Amos doesn’t seem like he is going to start right away over White though so Hoping they can get a DT or DE

  9. I was listening to this one NFL mock draft podcast yesterday and it had them taking Emmanwori round 1 and Morrison round 2. No DE in the top 5 rounds. Only 1 DT taken. They picked an IOL high as well. Just completely head scratching and infuriating to listen to.

No Corner and DT by the end of Friday night.

Yea that would be awful. Guessing if something like this played out it would be them taking a DE, WR, and a safety or LB.

Gotta be honest: I DESPISE the DT picks compared to what's possible in this draft. 2 EDGE picks is weird, especially at 62. There HAD to be some beasts at 62. And at 56 tbh. LB plus a second EDGE at 56 and 62 is wild.

I agree I like Phillips but that would be my second DT. The Bills need one top end DT and then another within the first 4 picks. Anything else is a failure in this draft class. My ideal situation is a trade back in round 1 or 2 and getting extra picks in the top 100 to load up on the line, CB, and WR.

I don’t see us taking a CB at 30. Maybe if we trade down with a QB needy team (Giants at 34), New Orleans at 40.

    Prediction:

trade 30 and 108 to NYG for 34 and 65

    34 Grant

56 Harrison, Revel, Morrison (one will drop due to size and injuries)

    62  Jalen Royals

    65  JT Tuimoloau

This is definitely a year I want more picks so I'd love a trade down or two.

  12. These mock draft simulators are like crack. Have been playing around with a few of them. It's nice doing different simulators since they have different ratings on players. Some of these mocks seem a little unrealistic especially with trade down scenarios where I've been getting Grant or Harmon in the low 30s like this one. All I know is I really want the Bills to somehow get 2 solid DT, at least 1 good edge maybe 2, double up on CBs, and then try to get WR, LB, IOL, TE, S also somewhere in there.

    37.Harmon DL

    56.Tyleik Williams DL

    62.Landon Jackson Edge

    68. JT Tuimoloau Edge

    109. Jacob Parrish CB

    120.Denzel Burke CB

    140.Barrett Carter LB

    163. Tai Felton WR

    169. Cobee Bryant CB

    170. Jeffrey Bassa LB

    173. Seth McLaughlin IOL

    177. Jaydon Blue RD

    178. Jaylen Reed S

    206. Isaac TeSlaa WR

    215. Orone Gadsden TE

    39. Kenneth Grant DL

    56. Landon Jackson Edge

    62. Darius Alexander DL

    99. Dorian Strong CB

    109. TJ Sanders DL

    116. Tuten RB

    132. Jack Sawyer Edge

    135. Quincy Riley CB

    169. Sebastian Castro S

    170. Isaiah Bond WR

Cook unlike Benford has taken negotiations publicly. The last guy who carried on like that got traded for a 2nd rounder this year. I’m not saying it will happen but Cook to LV or Dallas for a 2nd would not shock me 🤷🏻‍♂️.. strong RB draft. Gives Bills 3 2nd rounders one of which they use on a home run threat RB ? Call me crazy but?

If Cook is going to be a headache or holdout for a huge contract I’m more than ok with trading him. Enjoy watching him play but he is not a top 5 RB.

I’d take Diggs back. I know it’s not going to happen and I know it will be unpopular but if you tell me Diggs is back on a 2 year deal, I’ll be good to go

This has to be the worst take in all of Bills takes that I’ve ever heard.

  15. As some have mentioned I think we all know that one person or have that one friend who is extra and crude and loves just saying outlandish things just to try and get a laugh. Problem is you can pick your friends not your teammates. Richie is a guy that can rub a lot of people the wrong way while not actually meaning it. He probably struggles with thinking people just don’t understand him and believes that he isn’t a bad guy just misunderstood. Eric probably sees this in him and wants to go to bat for him but still he said all those things.its not a made up story.

    Where's the fabrication?

" The report found that Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey harassed Martin, another offensive lineman and a member of the training staff. It described "sexually explicit remarks" about members of his family and said that "at times [Martin was] ridiculed with racial insults and other offensive comments."

"His teammates called him names and said racist things to his face. They made misogynistic comments. On the spectrum of behavior in football locker rooms, it was extreme, he said."

"He said most people, especially those who didn't play the game, might think what happened to him was bullying. But men who sweat and grunt and bang heads for a living often act a certain way when they are around each other."

"I should have stood up to it more," he said. "I should have been like, 'Look, this is wrong.'"

All he's saying now is that he wished he had handled it differently.

Incognito did these things.  The article doesn't exonerate him in any way.

Yea I’m like did Eric wood even read the article. Richie did everything we thought he did.

Martin is just now saying he wishes he handled it better. Weird take by Eric Wood on this.

I will say I’m not sure Richie was really bullying him from his own perspective. I think he enjoyed being let’s say colorful character. I think he really did think he was being funny or just engaging in playful banter. But at the end of the day he did and said all those things. He still needs to be held accountable either way.

He overthinks the first round picks.  Last year was a great example.  There was overwhelming broad consensus that Ladd McConkey had elite route running skills that reliably gets open.  Every draft profile says the same thing.  Just make the pick.

For 2025, I'd like for him to get some gigantic, mean defensive tackles and some athletic corners that understand man and zone defense.  I'd love for the defense in 2025 to flow through the Defensive Tackle position.

I really wanted Ladd but everyone said well he plays the same position as Shakir. Well at least we knew he was good. I don’t know if Coleman will ever pan out.

Stop drafting for need, just draft the best players period.

It feels like the Marv Levy era all over again, and not in a good way. When the stakes are highest the Bills have gotten outcoached every. Single. Time.

Yup Marv got outcoached in all the biggest games and the same has happened to McDermott now.
