I prefer to think of it as a learning experience. We’ve done enough “quick firing” in recent decades. Maybe we wait and see how it plays out?

Who has this franchise "quick fired"? The answer is literally no one (not as far as Head Coaches are concerned). Nothing States that you have to commit to someone for multiple years, especially if that guy has proven that he is incompetent or flat out not ready for his position.

McD has yet to prove that he has any idea what he is actually doing. From gutting the roster of the most talented players to his horrendous hires for his assistant coaches to his lack of in game management. The benching of Taylor at 5-4 was the most astounding. Especially using hindsight.

If this team misses the playoffs by 1 game, the pitchforks and torches should be out in full force.

lol of course they had a shot

After Peterman was benched the Bills and Chargers both scored 17 in the 2nd half.

I agree with you that if Taylor starts the game the Bills have a chance to win. For anyone to say anything different is ridiculous.

That one game may cost this team a playoff spot. If that happens, that's a fireable offense.

I don't think anyone can say that Peterman is not the guy.  I am resigned to the fact that he won't play as long as our playoff hopes are alive, but I would still like to see if he is the guy.  I'm just saying that I'd rather be eliminated as soon as possible, and take a better look at Peterman, than go to the playoffs with a QB that will not be here next year, and is not the guy.

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. You'd really rather NOT go to the playoffs than go to the playoffs? Wow.

Is it just me, or do the cbs broadcasts look different? Like they're using different cameras or something? I noticed it watching the bills and now watching the saints/rams.

I get what you're saying. To me it's like the CBS broadcast is" lighter" to my eye while FOX seems like it has a "darker" shade or tint.

How can you guys judge the OC without a good QB? You think mike McCoy would have this offense humming with the lethal Tyrod to deonte Thompson combo?

I disagree completely about Taylor being a good QB (he is) but the best OCs (coaches) make up for a lack of talent on the roster

They weren't great run blocking today but pass blocking was excellent most of the day

The only time the OLine blocked well today in pass pro was when they kept 9 guys into block.

The two man route combos are absolute lunacy and Dennison runs them entirely to frequently. As much as I loathe Dennison he has to do that because the offensive line gets beat like a drum on a weekly basis.

I'm going to add this was probably Tyrod's best chance at proving he was a good QB too, with the way the O-line played today he should've put the Chiefs in a huge hole in that first half.

The defense limited the Chiefs to ONE...JUST ONE 1st down the entire first half. Then the O-line gave Tyrod plenty of time, some where he had 4+ seconds without even the slightest pressure to throw the ball, yet he still was unable to make good reads or hit open receivers.

Trying to diminish the significance of that O'leary pass is also pretty funny. The guy was wide open on all sides of the ball and had the potential to run for 15+ more yards putting us in easy FG range at worst. Instead we fail to get a 1st down, and give the ball back to the Chiefs with plenty of time left for them to win the game. That's HUGE. No amount of downplaying that will change that.

The OLine was as bad as they have been all year. Shady averaged 2.2 ypc. Taylor literally was the entire offense today.

  8. 8 minutes ago, BigDingus said:

You think that was his worst play? That's hilarious. It was the most recognizably bad play considering what it potentially cost us, but he wasn't "good" all game.

There's a reason he struggles to hit 175 yards passing per game. Plays like that are a HUGE factor in that. When you don't allow your receivers to ever get YAC, you will always have low passing numbers.

That play alone nearly cost us the game. The Bills won in SPITE of Tyrod thanks to the defense....just like they have all year.

And don't even try to throw out Peterman. Peterman being awful and Tyrod being bad aren't mutually exclusive. They're not good NFL QB's, and it has nothing to do with their relation to each other.

There isn't a WR on the roster capable of creating YAC other than maybe Thompson and he is a JAG if I have ever seen one.

We have a team full of possession receivers who can't create separation. What in the world do you expect?

So, just looking at the gameday thread, Tyrod's WORST (UNFORGIVABLE) play was a 14 yard COMPLETION.  On the ROAD when the Bills were a significant UNDERDOG.

Tyrod played solid, mostly mistake free football.  He made some nice passes and some plays with his legs where it counted.  Not perfect, but rock solid.  Amazed at how far the far-right wing of the Anti-Tyrod movement will reach to find fault.

    Unreal.

Barring a deep run into the playoffs, and maybe even with that, Tyrod is gone next year, but he's the best we have had in a long time.  Hopefully our pick will pan and out we get our franchise QB.  But in the meantime, give the guy some credit.

You had me until "draft a franchise QB". We have a guy that can and HAS won games in this league. If it were easy to draft a "Franchise QB" all 32 teams would have one.

Funny that the second or third longest completions of the game for Tyrod was one of his worst plays. He had to make a better pass than that.

That said, O'Leary (whose grandmother played lacrosse at Harvard), dropped to his knees to make sure he caught it. A good receiver an probably just catch it low and run (not at full speed but didn't need to).

TT didn't have a lot of chances. Dennison sent two or three guys out all day and the Chiefs easily covered them.

O'Leary could've gotten up but I think he was gunshy because of the Jets game where he got up and then was stripped.

The play call on the very next play should be the nail that seals Dennisons coffin.

Peterman was chucking the ball all over the place last week. Pretty obvious McD told him why he was yanking Taylor - he wants the QB to take chances, not sacks.

I'm new here but I don't think I'm out of line saying that you're one of the most agenda driven, hate fueled and clueless posters I've seen on this board.

  12. We can talk about the low snap count for Dareus but the fact of the matter is, this defense has been historically bad since his departure. In the 3 games since he has been gone:

    2 sacks

638 rushing yards allowed (212 ypg)

    114 points allowed (38 ppg)

    0-3 record

Looking at those numbers it's hard to argue that he wasn't the glue that kept the defense together. Dareus played on 1st down and 3rd down the majority of the time. 1st down is a down where the run is prevalent and sets the stage for an offenses drive and how they'll attack the defense. 3rd down is a down where its dependant on the situation but a 3rd and short is primarily a run and 3rd and 6+ is a pass rushing down. Dareus commanded double teams based solely on size and talent which freed up KW/Hughes and Lawson to get 1 on 1 matchups and allowed the LBers to shoot their gap and play with speed.

We don't have a player on the roster who commands the same respect and it has shown over the last 3 games. To only get a 6th round pick out of him should be a fireable offense all by itself.

They are on the field...A LOT.

That is their own doing though. The Bills defense is 32nd in the league at creating 3 and outs. 32nd in the league at making the opposing offense punt. 26th in the league in yards per drive and 28th in the league in points allowed per drive.

The defense has tape on them now and creating turnovers has stopped. They've been exposed for a lack of talent and its only going to get worse.

    tl;dr - The defense stinks

I don’t think there Is a single Bills fan who thinks Taylor is the answer at QB past this season. Let him go out and be the QB and play for another shot next year, with another team. There is no way McDermott and Bean bring Taylor back. As for what Taylor did against the Chargers, whatever. Peterman looked about the same against New Orleans.

Don't speak for everyone. I, in fact, do believe Taylor can be the answer at QB.

Keep in mind, except for Tarkenton, you are looking at #1 overall picks, there was a likely expectation of great success for them, not the same case for a 5th round pick. Doesn't mean Peterman can't recover, but it's apples and oranges.

Exactly. There are seven 1st rounders on that list and 6/7 were the #1 overall pick. Massive difference.

He also threw more interceptions then any of those guys did and he managed to do it in the 1st HALF.

You are putting the cart in front of the horse. There is absolutely no way you know the things bolded, because nobody knows yet. His "roster construction"? Hasn't even done it yet. He had a garage sale, and hasn't even got a chance to spent the money. Like him or hate him, you don't get to judge a "roster construction" that hasn't even happened yet.

And the "kid just isn't good"? Come on now, you think 30 minutes is all you need to evaluate a qb? I have no idea how Peterman will be, but you don't either.

You present premature opinions as if they are certifiable facts.

He traded speed and explosiveness (Watkins/Goodwin/Woods) for height, age and less talent (Holmes/Jones/Matthews and now Benjamin). He allowed the offensive scheme and offensive line to be completely changed without adding anything other than Dawkins. He traded a run stuffing/pass rushing DT for a 6th round pick without any plan on the roster to replace him.

We now have a plodding, slow ineffective offense outside of Shady and Taylor (the only explosive players on the offense) an out of their depth and out of their comfort zone offensive line and a defense that can't rush the passer or stop the run. If you don't find these things concerning or showing a tendency for the propensity of player McD is bringing in, you're either blind to the process or are intentionally being argumentative.

Another problem is Brady is in the division. Any QB we will ever have will be compared to him and Kelly. Unless our QB is comparable, the search will continue. You will never win this division with Tyrod unless Brady is out of it.

This is true, but the QB position influences the rest of the team like no other. Brady elevates his team. He makes average players great. Three and outs destroy the defense. They get tired and demoralized.

Brady is the GOAT though. He and Rodgers are the only two QBs in the league who can make average players better.

The Bills defense is currently 32nd in the league at creating 3 and outs. If they are tired and demoralized they have no one to blame other than themselves.
