    So our run D sucks?

    PANIC ENSUES!

    ?

Well they were 31st in run defense DVOA last season. They tried to shore some of that up by signing Lotulelei and drafting Edmunds and Phillips but I'll be cautiously optimistic for now.

But as rushing offense and rushing defense correlate very little with winning games, I don't worry about it too much.

I presented my argument, you're only retort is hanging on a word I used. I may have no clue but yet if you watch good QBs rarely do you see guys having to dive, twist, jump and spin just catch a 5 yard pass.  Your assessment of "but 63% bro!" is meaningless. Accuracy has everything to do with where you put the ball, the anticipation of the route and throwing to a spot. That's how the NFL works. Windows are small, guys are typically covered and you have to throw them open. Tyrod has proven he can't do that

Like I said, you've made up your mind. Even in the face of statistical evidence that is posted quite regularly, your mind has been made. And that's fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

    You've got nothing, sport.

Ugh. Do you want to have a debate about something that you have no clue about? I'd be happy to do this but I was trying to not have an unending Tyrod debate. Most people have made up their minds so I see no point in a back and forth. You have nothing which is why you keep using words like kiddo and sport. It's hilarious.

Ball placement kiddo, it's what separates the great ones from the below average ones. Casual fans that read PFF don't see that anywhere in their stats so they just can't figure it out. If it wasn't for his ability to run and his great arm, he would've been out of the league years ago. He's a boom or bust passer. He will wow you with a scramble and a strike every now and then, but for the most part the ball is behind, low or high of his receiver.

I'm glad you realized that it was a poor idea to try and defend the "never" that you used in your first post. Kiddo.

I agree that we can't say "never" accurate. TT certainly has his moments.

But there's a difference between completion percentage (balls caught) vs. accuracy (ball placement). Most QBs don't have a great mastery of the latter, Tyrod included. It's what separates the good from great passers.

I wouldn't have even responded to a post like the one you just made because it is an argument that isn't debateable. It's when someone uses words like "never". That's the issue.

Your mind is blown, literally?  Come on man, let’s not be so sensitive.

Smdh. If you can’t judge trod, then What can you judge accurately. I’d question your ability

What are you talking about? The dude literally used the word NEVER twice. To imply such a thing when he completes 63% of his passes is beyond mindblowing.

I don't see how this could help them or be viewed as a good thing.  I get the injury angle but the downside is how they'd be viewed by prospective teams.

In addition, these players play against inferior teams a decent amount of time and playing well in a bowl against better competition is sometimes how decisions on players are made.  It's more important for them to show out.

It didn't hurt Fournette or McCaffrey when they skipped their bowl games last year. Both guys went top 8.

Missing one bowl game doesn't make 24-48 games of film go away. These kids have millions of dollars on the line. While I'd personally rather them play, I most certainly understand when they decide not to.

  8. 2 minutes ago, Luka said:

And if he could throw an accurate pass we would be talking about playoffs. Any pass he throws the receiver has to go back for it. He's late on almost every throw. A lot of these plays, if he just puts the ball out in front and to the numbers, guys can make plays. Tyrod has never been able to do that. Never will.

Good luck making the argument that a guy who is completing 63.2% of his passes is NEVER accurate.

My mind is literally blown that someone would even type something like that.

Rodak really stepped out on a limb here.

Give the people what they want and they'll be happy. Tell the people what they want to hear and they'll keep listening. Say Taylor stinks and is the sole cause of the Bills problems and the people will take that and run with it. Confirm what they want to hear and they'll forget that there is no better option.

Reich was heavily criticized as a conservative and predictable play caller with the Chargers. I have no problem with Dennison going but I don’t want to settle for a guy because we have heard of his name.

And again, play calling doesn’t make it a promotion. It’s a lateral move. Not sure where you got your info that it’s a promotion but it’s wrong

Not arguing semantics with you guy. If you don't call plays in one place and the new place hires you to actually call plays, that's a promotion. My information is from everyone with any sense.

  11. I am not one who believes in Gordon. At least not initially. The guy hasn't played a meaningful snap since 2014 so I expect he will have to knock the proverbial rust off.

It also doesn't help he is up against a top 6 pass defense (DVOA) and some excellent corners (Verrett/Heyward/Flowers) on the road.

Your decision but I would start Matthews.

  12. Few things here and not to take anything away from your hard work but clarification is necessary.

1.) This is a concept called an RPO or run/pass option. When the play is called in it is a run play with a built in pass option. Zone read/slant flat combo. It is a play straight out of the Anthony Lynn playbook so giving Dennison credit for the design is false. Where I give Dennison credit is not letting his ego get in the way of success and calling a concept that was out of the norm for him and his system.

2.) It was in fact Incognitos inability to sustain a block against the DT (not LBer like you say above) that causes this play to not hit for a big gain to Thompson. The DT pushes Incognito into the passing window and just makes a good play by getting his hand up and knocking the ball down.

With that said, it's obvious that this play isn't practiced enough because it's clearly a new wrinkle in Dennisons offense. I like Taylor as the QB of this team but he missed an opportunity to just hand the ball to Cadet for a big gain on the zone read. Regardless, the slant to Thompson was open if the DT doesn't create that interior pressure as quickly as he did.

The good news is that the RPO concepts that I have been begging for are now being incorporated into the offense. With another week of practice behind them I look for the Bills to continue to adding them to the game plan on Sundays.

I never hear about it, but does anybody wish we had considered Anthony Lynn? If Wayne wants "sustainable" offense, there's your answer.

Not that I missed Lynn at the time. But I do now.

I swear I'm not trying to be "that guy" lolol but if you search my post history I've brought that up multiple times.

I wanted it to be Lynn and just assumed it was going to be Lynn.... Until it wasn't. The continuity he would have brought back to the offense and his scheme in general were the reason I thought for sure he'd get the job. He also said he and Gus Bradley were a packaged deal which would've meant the defense would've still switched to a 43 base and we would've essentially played the same zone scheme that McD runs now.

    Would've loved it.

So Tyrod didn't elevate the VIrginia Tech offense? Brady didn't elevate the Michigan offense? The list is miles long of great college quarterbacks who were never drafted. Your statement is what is absurd.

Tyrod did which is why he was a 4 year starter. But we're talking about Peterman. Apparently you're trying to sell me on the fact that he was soke. Mythical football God in college even though his coach barely let him throw the ball.

  15. 3 minutes ago, Wayne Arnold said:

    You haven't offered any knowledge.

But saying a QB who finished 7th out of 130 teams in yards per attempt, 7th in passer rating, and whose offense finished 10th in the country in points per game compared to 100th this season after he left "never elevated his offense" is enough proof that you don't know what you're talking about.

So you're not considering the offensive scheme being predicated on the run or the fact that he never threw for more than 2,800 yards?

He was a cog in the offense he didn't elevate that team at all. To think anything different is absurd. QBs who elevate their offense don't get drafted in the 5th round.

  16. 7 minutes ago, Wayne Arnold said:

Haha you're so full of ****.

How so? I still haven't heard you explain my lack of knowledge for college scheme.

    3 minutes ago, PeterGriffin said:

    Neither did Tyrod

Again Taylor is a Dual-threat QB. He ran the ball 501 times at Virginia Tech.

I don't understand yet again why his rushing ability isn't considered?

At the risk of pissing off shallow cross, who gives a **** about CFB. His pro statline speak for itself

You're cool man. I do Happen to love college ball (I'm a Bills/NFL fan first and foremost). I think all the most innovative offensive philosophies are at the college level and are slowly being integrated into NFL playbooks. My grandfather coached at the high school level for 27 years. I'm from Ohio so my college team is ALWAYS good. That helps as well.

This Wayne dude has no idea what he is talking about and I would love for him to debate scheme with me.

  18. Just now, Wayne Arnold said:

7th in the country in passing yards per attempt.

But please, tell me about how comparing total passing yards between players from two completely different offensive systems isn't apples and oranges.

YPA has everything to do with the offensive system. Pitts run game coupled with their play action game opened up the deeper route concepts. They hardly let the kid throw can we stop pretending that he is a good player?
