  1. If following the offseason closely every year has taught me anything, it's that the pre-draft experts are always right. Their player evals, their mocks...spot on every time. Because of that, I get upset when they share things I don't agree with because I know their projections are gospel. Someday, I hope to maybe have a crumb of their wisdom in trying to form coherent thoughts on my own.

  2. Someday in the not-too-distant future, Kim Pegula will be interviewed, asked what it took to turn to the corner to finally being the Lombardi to Buffalo.

"Well, you could point to Beane and McDermott coming and rebuilding with a new culture, but I'll tell ya, it was more than that. On a fateful day in Feb 2018, a guy posted on a Bills message board that Terry and I needed to hire this guy that was a guest on radio show. It was unclear who this person was, when they appeared, and exactly what they had to say, but it was our historic turning point. From that day, we had all our interns comb every interview with the past 2 weeks of that post and eventually we found it. He of course is that guy you now all know and love, no need for even naming him here. So to that board poster who sent the message, sir, it was received like a beacon and we credit the building of our new dynasty to that cryptic post".

  3. Some posts bring out the worst side of my sarcasm. This would be one of those posts. In an effort to overcome that tendancy, I'll simply ask:

    1. What makes you think this way? Are you just counter-culture at heart?

    2. Knowing QB is the glaring need and considering this franchise has historically drafted RBs in years we didn't need one and still needed a QB, again, what makes a person come to this conclusion?

I'm earnestly trying to understand your train of thought.

There were too many good jokes to recount, but here's some highlights:

Eric Wood comes into the room during his intro, gets a standing ovation. Fitz gets introduced, about 1/3 of the room stands to applaud his arrival. He goes up to the podium and says something to the effect of, 'What, do I have to break my neck to get a standing ovation?'

Aaron Williams was pretty lit up when they started, was shitfaced by the end. He kept taking potshots at everyone (even when it wasn't his time at the podium), it was great.

Apparently Williams and Bryan Scott once played 2-on-2 baseball with Freddy and his son at Freddy's house. Williams and Scott kicked their asses and celebrated like they won the world series. Freddy's son was 4 at the time. Kid refuses to play baseball to this day.

Freddy's twin brother Patrick gave a great speech. Went on about having to watch the "Fred treatment" (being treated like royalty) his entire life. Talked about Freddy calling him at 3:00 pm on a weekday in the offseason to whine about being bored and that he was thinking about taking his kids to Disneyland. Patrick works for a living... he was not impressed: 'mother!@#$er, don't you !@#$ing call me at 3:00 to !@#$ing tell me you're !@#$ing bored and thinking about going to Disneyland!' Freddy was voted best looking man at Coe college, while his identical twin brother did not receive a vote "we have the same !@#$ing face!" It was pointed out that Patrick's future wife was attending Coe college at the time (and didn't vote for him).

Fitz had props. He mocked Eric Wood's retirement speech, referencing that it was approved by his agents and the PA not to include the word "retirement" so he could get his injury guarantee. He wore a wig for it. He then stripped down to his Bills Zubaz underwear, dressed up like Freddy, and gave a retirement speech as Jackson. Called Whaley a "spineless  [p]ussy", to much applause.

Freddy had a great story about Wood bending over at the line to snap the ball during practice, and ripping a nasty fart. Fitz audibled to a shotgun snap. Chan was not happy. He talked about having jerseys of his favorite teammates, including Terrence McGee, on his wall at home. Every one of the jerseys was given and signed by the player, except one. McGee made him buy a jersey online.

Yeah, this pretty much destroys the OPs stretch attempt to make his point. Sounds like it went like most would have imagined...laughs and drought hero nostalgia.

This guy is very different from Watson.  Watson tore up arguably the greatest college defense of all-time in the title game with his passing.  I have said it before, there is only one player you can compare to Jackson and that is Michael Vick.  I don't think I have ever seen two QB's with such a similar style as those two.  They even both have the rocket arm without the touch.  Remember when Vick would absolutely fire lasers into guys when he didn't exactly need to?  It was like, that was a decent throw but it would have been a lot better and easier to catch if he could have taken a little off.  Jackson has that same delivery.

I hear ya, but I'm talking in terms of doubts about game transitioning to the pros. A lot of people were torn between whether Watson was really that good or did MWilliams make him look that good. Watson made a lot of plays that left most scratching their heads wondering if it would work in the NFL. Hindsight makes it obvious but I'm sure a little pre 2017 draft digging would find very few thinking he was worth a first round pick.

  6. I think the Watson comparison is the best...meaning if he has that "IT" factor that translates in the pros, he's gonna make a lot of teams regret not picking him. However, there's just no way to know till he's in the fire. Even the Texans thought Watson wasn't ready till Savage made it impossible to not take the chance.

Personally, I wish him the best. If he sincerely has learned from his mistakes and can manage his newly found bi-polar diagnosis, he would be an incredible comeback story. He certainly is a unique talent on the field. Unless he ends up in our division. Then I hope he crumbles, haha

I don't see that at all.

By "unique" I don't mean I'm overlooking his very small stature/frame. But as a pure playmaker, the kid showed promise. I remember being at that Browns game when he came in for Hoyer and he was an instant jolt of energy. Made it seem like he might pull it through. And then the Kyle pancake, haha!

I wouldn't be surprised if the jags are 7-9 next year. They were lucky that the Colts were so bad and also the Texans lost their starting qb. No doubt they have a great defense, but I think the jags will struggle next year

They have too much talent to go backwards IMO. They could be even better should they upgrade at QB.

I lean toward the possible step back as well. Hinges on whether they upgrade at QB, if Watson is healthy in time, and if Reich and Vrabel have strong rookie campaigns. That's gonna be a tough division.

In rebuttal to your first point, you're the one that implied I was a jackass so your hypocrocy is staggering. Secondly, Jim Kelly was a Bill and is no more a Bill. For someone who missed the 90's and has never experienced the success they had, it gets extremely tiring hearing about all the greats and the glory days. And no, I wasn't looking for a reaction, at least not the one you think. I was asking sincerely as I know that some fans similar to my age feel the same way about these stories as I

If this was another thing trying to relive glory days, you would have a point. But this is just a well wishing post for one of our all time greats. If you didn't expect the reaction you are getting, that's fine. Use this as a gauge for the future?
