First, please understand that particularly in the modern NFL QB is by far the most important position on any NFL team.

Second, please understand the Bills do have a substantial interest in having traded extra value to move up in the 1st round to draft wunderkind Josh Allen and his unique demographics and skillset there is a real interest in seeing him become our QB of the future whom Bills fans hope ultimately he will not only rival but surpass Jim Kelly as the living statement of what bit means to be a Buffalo Bill!

However, even conceding these two points and desperately hoping Allen is on the verge of his first 19-0 record leading our team, reality knows he is a work in progress and that while we hope he will exceed the rookie accomplishments of Dan Marino, real Bills fans with any connection to reality simply know that the credible goal for this year's team is to find a starting QB among these three who can win games this year and give Allen the time and incentive through competition to become our undisputed QB of the future.

I and quite frankly no one else knows for sure what the future holds for us at QB.

While I and I hope most Bills fans would love to see Allen win the job this preseason, the smart bet for a true Bills fan is that I really am not worried whether Allen, McCarron, or Peterman wins the battle this summer, my rooting is to see any of these three command the initial starting job with a performance that just wins baby right now and sets up Allen to become the maximum QB he can be for the Bills.

Right now at this too early stage in his career to make even a reasonable judgment about what that future will be it is a close call as to whether I am most surprised and pleased with Allen's successful first venture as a starter during garbage time leading our scrubs against their scrubs or by both Peterman and McCarron leading the team to production versus NC.

In terms of the current 3 way QB battle as a Bills fan I am simply happy to see 3 players credibly compete with each other for the starting QB job.

Though also as a true Bills fan somewhat grounded in the reality of the NFL, I REALLY DON'T CARE WHO WINS THE CURRENT QB BATTLE.

I am primarily rooting for the unknowable that  all remain healthy.  If that statement is true Saturday morning I am pretty confident I will be one happy Bills fan!

My GUESS  is that right now:

    A. Peterman has the best shot at producing results which make him the Bills starting QB in game 1 of this year.  In retrospect, he was one of the most ready to start immediately among the drafted QBs last year even despite his lowly and legit 5th round pick status.  He surprised last year in his immediate ability to lead and command respect of his teammates (something even legit HOFer Jim Kelly was incapable of doing until virtually half a decade into his pro career as one of the clear causes of our team earning the label as the Bickering Bills).  Peterman showed impressive shills and production last year even despite the fact that McD and his now fired OC (whatshisname) not only screwed up starting him as a 5th round pick(even the best player in the NFL needed to sit and learn the game for a year and still profited massively from being forced to start and get crucially backed up by non-other Drew (brain cramp) Bledsoe in his first SB winning campaign.

Our braintrust totally mismanaged NP's training by not only starting him before he was ready, but by announcing this early in the week before the game giving SD's DC and defenders a full week to plan and practice fooling the rookie NP with disguised coverages and blitzes.  I think we were just lucky to not see apparently NPs self confidence and his teammate's confidence in him suffer a fatal blow to his career.  (for this fan as impressed as I am with the overall first year team performance with McD as HC, he remains on probation with this fan as meaningless of what me and my fellow Bills fans think).  Firing last year's OC, hiring Daboli with his resume of being a part of successful teams at both the pro and college highest level, and the O result of his first pre-season game  {its just pre-season so far from determinative, but this Bills team won the first half (important for training purposes as this was our A & B units against their A & B units in a less real than normal game}).

It easily may not happen but my sense after wasting too much time (according to my wife) of several decades of NFL viewing NP is th smart bet to be our starting QB.

    B. McCarron is quite impossible he is going to be our QB of the future and possible but still less than likely to even be our QB of the present.  He does in real fact bring limited but real experience as an NFL QB (a real thing).  I like him as a plan B for finding a starter now particularly since we have wunderkind Allen on the roster.  No intelligent person should depend or even demand or expect him to be our starting QB, but I like him as our plan B(-).

    C.  Allen has tremendous physical tools and his first pro outing leading our Cs and Ds against their Cs and Ds was quite hopeful and positive, but my fan-GUESS is that if the Bills make the same training mismanagement mistake of starting NP before he is ready that this would be an even greater error than our poor use of Peterman.

Football logic suggests to me that though I root for Allen to win the stating QBG job immediately, in reality it is far more likely that if Allen is GIVEN the starting job this pre-season it more likely kills his development into the franchise QB we want.

In general though I really do not have a horse in the current QB battle because I am a Bills fan.  Amid quite a few unlikely possibilities, the best unlikely to occur possibility for a successful Bills future is that Peterman wins the current QB battle but Allen learns enough that he cannot be denied a starter'job around week 8!

I had no idea the QB position was by far the most important position on a modern NFL football team or that the Bills have substantial interest in the QB position after trading extra value to be in a position to draft a QB. Who knew!? I really need to pay more attention to this stuff. Thanks for educating me on what a REAL Bills fan is. Imagine my dismay to learn all these years I had it all wrong and YOU being the all knowing individual that you are, have known what a REAL Bills fan is all along and are now kind enough to fill us all in. Thank you for sharing this information. I strive to become a REAL Bills fan one day like you. In the meantime, I'll just hope and pray that I can find a spare week to finish reading your very lengthy explanation of why I shouldn't care. To use the words of a former NFL wide receiver....Child Please! (I'm sure some on here will know what the underlying meaning of that phrase is)

  2. I voted for 5+. The actual number of Pre-Season games there should be is 9. By then everyone knows what kind of team you have. the Regular Season consists of 3 games. If a team wins 1, 2 or all 3 games, they make the playoffs. If you win all 3 Regular Season games you get a month off and then home field advantage for the first half of your first game which starts at 6AM EST. Then you go to your opponents field and play the 2nd half at 8PM EST. If you tie, then you go to London and play until there's a winner. All teams that lost all 3 Regular Season games have their own playoffs with the winner playing the most recent CFL champion utilizing a field that is 145 meters long and 57 Yards 7 inches wide. The End zone will be 11.2 feet in depth. The ball will be Lime Green with one Blue stripe along its length.

  3. What I find interesting is that there's an $11.5 Million difference between the 1st pick and 7th pick in rookie contracts. I would expect that much difference between a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick but between the 1st pick and the 7th pick in the 1st round on a rookie deal? Neither Mayfield or Allen have played one down yet. That's quite a bit of difference but good for the Bills cap though.

What people are still failing to see is that we might potentially have one of our own kind of guys like that finally...Ok for the record I am definitely not saying Allen is going to be the next Brady but I have heard some say his ceiling could be a more athletic Roethlisburger.  The point is if Allen turns out to be a legitimate franchise QB we will be able to hang with anybody else out there with the defense we are going to have as well.

Exactly. I was being sarcastic with my comment. You don't give up and wait until Brady retires. You do everything you can to become division champion. Even sweeter if you can do it with the best still playing at the top of his game.

Just thought about this comparison this morning.  When Seattle made the playoffs in 2010 with a 7-9 team, everyone basically stated that they were the worst playoff team ever etc. and buffalo drew some comparisons to that when they made it last year despite being outscored, and blown out in several games.

Now looking at the roster's, and how the teams were assembled I see even more that we're trying to build something similar.  Buffalo is building a strong secondary, stopping the run, and making it hard for opposing offenses to score and move the ball.  The offense is obviously a work in progress, but outside of Doug Baldwin who was drafted in 2011 - Seattle has never really had a particularly strong group of receivers, and built their offense around a strong running and PA game.

I know in 2012, no one expected the Seahawks to have the best defense in the league - or to start a run of 6 straight playoff appearances.  Personally I don't think 2018 is the year (Rookie QB, Oline transition, young roster), but 2019 very well could be the year where Buffalo can actually make some serious noise in the AFC.

Won't happen, so long as Brady and Roethlisberger are still playing.

The Bills should probably just forfeit every game until those two guys retire. I mean they can't get good enough to make serious noise and there's no reason to risk injury.

  6. " “When I got benched, man. My confidence took a huge hit, honestly. I was very upset. I was like, ‘Man, what is it that I’m not doing?’ And all this kind of stuff and I started to look at me first. I mean, I threw the ball 10 yards over the heads of my receivers, I threw the ball into the ground at my receivers feet. I couldn't get a first down to save my life, I took all sorts of sacks too but what more could I have done? Am I the only one that doesn't know I should be a starting QB in this league? It's so depressing!"

Lawyers are not required when filling eviction papers, though they are highly recommended, as they make sure there are no mistakes in the paperwork before filling.

I have filed eviction notices for my father many times, the notice is notarized by him, and the filing is just paying a clerk fee, they stamp it, and give your a receipt with a file reference# so it can be found by the court when needed.

The biggest issue is it was served to a 16 year old, which is still a minor in Georgia, but if she claims she saw the notice (aka the kid delivered it to her) then they will probably ask her why she didn't follow-up on it.

I think the red flag was when the party location was determined to be at a mobile site called "bang bus"

Not gonna speak on Georgia Law but in New York State, you can legally serve a 16 year old an eviction notice intended for his Mother. It's called "Substitute Service". A 16 year old is a minor yes, but old enough to accept legal paperwork for their parent unless there's other circumstances, like the 16 year old has a mental deficiency or something along those lines. Obviously the younger the child is, the more iffy the service becomes and shouldn't be done. Another option, if the law is similar to NY State, is to make numerous attempts to make service at different times of the day on different dates, go in the evening, go on the weekend,  so the server has done his due diligence attempting to serve the intended recipient and then tack it to the door. Either way, you do have to follow that up with two mailings of the notice. One 1st class and one Certified to the Mother. I haven't read where that was done so if it wasn't, it would not be a valid service. I'm curious why Shady had a friend do the service of the notice rather than pay the local Sheriff's Office to do it where for about $100 it would have been done correctly.

  8. How the hell does Ian Rappaport know what Beane and company are doing. You got one thread saying there's information indicating there's an agreement in principle with the Giants for the No. 2 pick and now this thread saying the Bills aren't going for pick No. 2 No one knows diddly squat. Everyone throwing crap at the wall to get people to read their BS.

This just in.................Brandon Beane seen wearing Brown dress shoes. Agreement must be in place for pick No. 1 or Pick No. 4. No other reason why Beane would be wearing Brown shoes. Wait a minute. McDermott seen eating a donut with Orange Frosting while watching an old Western with lots of horses. Agreement must be in place for the Broncos No. 5 pick. No other explanation for why McDermott would be seen doing this. Wait!!!!! Terry Pegula seen boarding his Private Jet while wearing a Green tie. Agreement in place with the Jets for the No. 3 pick. No other way to explain why Pegula would be seen wearing a Green tie while getting on his Jet.

Instead of getting the hottest girl at the bar, I’m going to wait until bar closing and hopefully a non-beast will be left.  It’s a great strategy. :)

But in your analogy, it's not just hitting it with the girl in the bar where the investment is basically a few hours and just a little bit of money. But, instead, you have marry her, forfeit your house, agree to the number of kids to have in 4 years, pay for her vehicle, be willing to relocate at any time necessary, be willing to get rid of two of your best and closest friends because she doesn't like them, and ready to forego wild vacations for the next 12 years for someone you've met, and chatted with in an intoxicated condition (QB drunk) over the period of about 3 hours. That's the analogy....

So, you can take the hottest girl with all of this tied to the cost, which also comes with a complete unknown as to how she'll age, what friends she'll bring into her life, what her parents or family is like, if she's way over her head in debt, and whether she's carrying any diseases...

Or, you can take the girl who's cute, not as drunk, fun and smart and says, just take me as I am, no strings, no requirements and I'll give up for you everything I've got to make this work.

That's full string in your analogy....

But what about the Intangible of her being a Freak between the sheets? If she does things that no other girl does, then it's worth another 1st round pick.

    Actually that sounds pretty favorable.

New England? Brady has to slow sometime. What's the atmosphere there going to be next season?

    Minnesota? Who is their QB?

Green Bay? Shut Rodgers down last time we played him.

Lions? On the road? Not scared.

Bears? An improved Bears team still not very good.

And if Houston, Tennessee and Jacksonville are potentially losses...that means they are potential wins as well. Spinning things is fun!

New England - doesn't matter what the atmosphere is like.  as long as Brady is the QB, it's a loss.
Minnesota - if it's Cousins, combined with that defense, it's a loss.
Green Bay - Rodgers was shut down because we had a dominant defensive line that included a motivated Mario Williams and Marcel Dareus.  That game was also won, because Rodgers missed a wide open Jordy Nelson on what would have been a guaranteed 70+ yard TD pass.
Lions - it's a home game and whoever starts at left tackle will have to deal with Ziggy Ansah on the edge.  Stafford will also be throwing all over the field to Golden Tate and Marvin Jones - both of them might have career games.
Bears - Trubisky will be more experienced and they still an improving defense

Someone call Beane and McDermott and tell them to leave the combine and come back to Buffalo. The 2018 season should just be cancelled. They won't win a single game per the Buffalo Bills Detective.

So you already know the standings for the next 2 seasons with a rookie QB? How about we could possibly go 11-5 or 12-4 with a viable QB? It can be spun in any direction we prefer.

Um, for one thing, we still play in the same division as the Patriots and their QB is this guy named Tom Brady.  We're also playing the NFC North next season, that includes games AT Minneapolis and AT Green Bay (2 guaranteed losses) and home games against improved Lions and Bears teams.  We're also playing the AFC South, with 3 potential losses against Houston, Tennessee and Jacksonville.

I get what you're saying but there's no such thing as a guaranteed loss. If that's true then just forfeit so the players don't chance being injured. Plug in any QB we have, any free agent QB or any QB in the draft and you can say the same thing. There's no guarantees one way or the other. There's probabilities just like it was probable the Bills would miss the playoff's 17 years in a row because of crappy QB play.

  12. I chose Denver but it was a toss up for me between the Broncos, Cardinals and the Vikings. IMHO, the Broncos win out because Elway is the GM and QB is everything to him for obvious reasons. They also know how to win while the Cardinals and Vikings are well...the Cardinals and Vikings! At this point in Cousin's career, I'm certain he will go to the team that he thinks gives him the best chance to get to a Super Bowl in the next year or two. He's no different than any other player and I don't think the money plays as important of a role as it would for most other players. He's already made a ton of money and he doesn't come off as being a flashy type of spender. He may never get there with whoever he signs with but that definitely will be in his thoughts.

No....sorry, I'm just one of those guys who believes once a significant transgression has occurred on the field like Gronk's this last year, I'm out. Prior to this year, I would have said, "Yup" all day depending on the asking price, but now, with his douche-bag, selfish, childish temper tantrum bull****, nope....never, not on my team if it were me.

Off the field stuff can be managed to some degree, like his silly antics and partying lifestyle, to that - who cares as long as he isn't hurting himself or anyone else and abiding by the law. But, on the field cheap shot, potentially dangerous and career threatening....nope, to hell with you and the horse you rode in on....

I would add Life Threatening too. If he hits Tre in the right spot and breaks his neck, it could have very well ended his life.

The NFL, Federal and all State Governments need to remove all barriers surrounding the use of Marijuana. It needs to be 100% legal in any form. After all, it cures everything now. You just can't find anything else anywhere in the world to help with any ailment. Nothing else works whatsoever. Just last week, my 34 year old neighbor who has never worked a day in his life and keeps his apartment windows open in the winter and thermostat set at 93 degrees to help him get through the day, told me he got a hangnail and went by ambulance to the Emergency room for treatment. He said the medical professionals should look for other jobs because they were incompetent. I guess he assumed he would get the miracle cure but they just put on some neosporin and a band-aid. Can you believe how my neighbor was treated? APPALLING!!!!

He seems like a young guy who was raised in a manor that could handle being a face of a multi Billion dollar company at 21.  The blue collar working class mantra is overrated.  He is going to be a leader of millionaires.  Those who have issue with what he said just read the headlines and didn't read the articles.  He is an intelligent thoughtful kid.  He is the best thrower of the football in this class.  I believe he has graduated from UCLA already.  Which shows his work ethic to me.  He adds 10 pounds to his lower body then you are in good to go.

I don't doubt anything you're saying. I'm sure all of it is Spot on. I'm just saying, if you come from money and you have the intelligence to make a lot more money, and your upbringing has all been seen through Rose colored glasses, is Buffalo where you want to spend 10-15 years? I'm not knocking Buffalo in any way but it's not like up and coming millionaire's are flocking to Buffalo to live. So if the Bills were to draft him, I see him hitting free agency after his rookie contract and going where his opportunities besides football is more in line to what he's used to. Many football players have done this. Many free agents won't come to Buffalo at all! It's the nature of the beast. So is it worth spending a Kings ransom on a guy and then hoping he learns to love Buffalo? If he doesn't and leaves, this board will explode because of how much was spent to get the guy in the first place.

There are more flags to me than the injuries. I'm sorry, but it really does take a certain mentality to play football in Buffalo NY. I'm not convinced he has it. His reputation as being selfish and entitled is a major red flag to play in this city.

As Aaron Williams said in his retirement article...in Buffalo football is everything. Just a hunch, gut instinct or whatever but I'm not sold he would ever embrace playing in a blue collar city.

I think you're 100% right! I seem to remember another QB that was selfish and arrogant and entitled that didn't embrace playing in Buffalo and instead played in Houston for a couple of years. Then fell in love with Buffalo once he got to Town. The guy I'm thinking of came from a Blue Collar background so Buffalo was a natural fit for his true personality. He wasn't the son of an Orthopedic surgeon father who was once a Nationally ranked Ice Skater and a Mother who is a former journalist who was once the Captain of the Princeton LaCrosse team. One young man knew what it meant to sweat and bleed and rub a little dirt on it and get back in the game. He now owns a Gold colored Sport Jacket. The other was born with a Silver spoon in his mouth. Great talent but not sure he would be a good fit in Buffalo. He may or may not one day also own a Gold colored Sport Jacket but either way, I doubt it would be from a career that was spent in Buffalo.
