    1. Lorenzo Alexander - I don't think he will make it out of camp.  If he does he will be just a special teams player. I still believe they will add a veteran OLB prior to the start of the season.

    2. Ducasse - I think Miller will win the RG spot back.  I would not be surprised to be 100% wrong here though.  Ducasse played better the final five games.  I just think Miller is a bigger, stronger, straight line blocker and will be more effective in a new scheme.  But Ducasse was awful the first half of the season and Miller still couldn't win the job.

    3. Peterman - The Bills will go with just two QBs and will hope they can sign Peterman to the practice squad

    4. Kyle Williams - he wasn't that good last year.  He will be worse this year.  With Star occupying more blockers perhaps I will be wrong.  With limited snaps maybe he can be effective as an inside pass rusher.  He has never been great against the run.  I hope I am wrong, but I see a retirement announcement a week into camp

    5. Trent Murphy - I think he will be boom or bust. He is a PED guy coming off injury.  If the Bills had added a DE in the second or third round I would say Murphy would be more than likely cut.  At this point it will probably be 50/50 as the DE depth is terrible.

    ***Wildcard***

Zay Jones.  All things being equal it is less than 1% chance a second year second round draft pick WR gets cut. Then again what are the odds you find yourself naked yelling at your brother who is stopping you from finding Jesus on the 30th floor?  And what is the chance Zay dropped more passes than his brother's apartment building has floors???

Kyle Williams? Are you kidding? No way that they cut him...on the other hand, I don't think that this regime is invested in Shaq Lawson.

I am also keeping an keen eye on the salary cap. We should have plenty of money and some great  WRs potentially hitting free agency.

My biggest worry is that we push Allen out too fast before he is ready, and he gets the EJ treatment: a freak physical talent who needs to ride the bench for a while getting shoved into a situation with few WR targets and a poor O-line.

Agree 100%...I think we can be competitive with AJ and a strong D. We need to develop Allen first...if the season is going south, we can get him some reps but we need to be thinking long term.

I happens. It is one of the most difficult positions in sports. It's hard to do physically and mentally. Colleges do not do a good job of preparing these kids, and generally they get drafted by teams that suck. Then they get thrown into the fire too quickly, develop terrible habits, and flame out. When there are only about 10-12 good quarterbacks in the NFL, it tells you how hard it is.

But it is also about opportunity, fit, and coaching. How many of these guys started too soon for coaches who got fired?

I mean if Trent Edwards got drafted by New England he'd probably still be in the league.

Steve Mariucci completely ruined both Giovanni Carmazzi and Joey Harrington. If Gio got drafted by New England in the sixth round, maybe history is quite different.

If Mo Lewis doesn't blow up Drew Bledsoe's spleen, we probably never even hear of Brady. If San Diego doesn't move on from Brees, giving him to Sean Patyton, Brees' career is probably quite different.

A lot of things have to go right, but first you have to have the talent. Once they are in your building it is on the organization and player to make it work.

I agree...which is why you had better be sure before you give away all of your drafts picks. I hope we do NOT move up in the draft. There is no guarantee that any of the top 4 QBs will be the Franchise QB...I can guarantee that we will be in a much worse position talent wise if we give up all of our 1st and 2nd rounds picks to get one (poitential) savior who may not even contribute in 2018.

THESE are the stats I found most telling. They're Tyrod in a nutshell: Good enough to start, good enough to keep you in a game as long as your defense and running game are humming. Will make some spectacular plays with his legs and his arm....BUT....when it's crunch time, and the game hangs in the balance he's well below average. For that very reason, it is time for the Bills to turn the page once and for all.

I wish I could just send a screenshot of these stats to every clueless national media pundit who thinks Tyrod gets a raw deal or that Bills fans are crazy for wanting to move on from him.

AND this is what makes this draft so interesting...TT is average at best BUT do you dump him with no alternative but an untested draft pick or do you spend more money on a guy who is no better (Josh McCown) OR do you keep him while you prep your draft pick?

trading away draft capital for any of the Quarterbacks in this draft would be an anti-Viagra shot to me.  None of them are Luck or Wentz.

More often than not it takes three years to develop a good talent into a good Quarterback.  As you well know in this age of instant gratification, every single loss there will be a lynch mob formed for the incumbent, demanding the Rook be played.  Then after one bad game will come the claims of bust.

Nah, give me a Dtackle and a LB,  it takes 8 sometimes 9 games before the bust declaration.

Totally agree with you on this one...I am just not that impressed with this draft class. Not enough to bet the farm with two 1st round picks.

Does this indicate that the Bills are starting to address their "other than QB" needs through free agency? If so, they may be considering packaging their first rounds picks to move up to take a QB in Round 1. I still hope that they will NOT do this. Better to use the picks to get a 1st round Center and Pass Rusher.

What constitutes a "good prospect?"  Are you talking trading up for one of the big 4 or 5?  Or taking a second-tier QB in rounds 2 and 3?

I think taking a second-tier QB in the 2nd or 3rd rounds would be a better value. I hope we don't trade away our 2 1st rounds picks for a QB. The position is such a crap shoot that we would be better served shoring up the O-Line and the defensive backfield in the first round.

    Sorry for the ambiguity.

Aaagh...horrible idea. We would be better off sticking with Tyrod than bringing in a QB who is on his last legs. Everyone fantasizes over the next great "savior". Sometimes it is better to be patient...Draft a good prospect to go with Peterman and let those two sit behind Tyrod to get some experience.

The two recipes to win are:

    1) Have an elite QB and offense and a defense not bad enough to lose you a lot of games

Or (if you don't have that)

    2) Have a top 3 defense and good running game.

It's easier to win with an elite QB because it is harder to build and maintain a top 3 defense year in and year out, in my opinion.

If you don't have the QB, you automatically have to go for the elite defense and run game, because if you don't you have NO chance at all.

Couldn't agree more. I think we should trade for a veteran QB who can make deep throws (and provide balance to a great run game)...use the draft to bolster our D-line. We need a serious pass rush. A top 5 defense aligned with a "good" QB can get us to the promised land (as the Eagles just demonstrated)...nuff said.

  10. Use the picks to build a solid team. Trading away picks for a QB is a huge dice roll that doesn't work in most cases. The NFL landscape is littered with "Savior" QBs who don't deliver. I think we all appreciate the fact that a Tom Brady behind a crap O Line is not effective...take the time and build a solid team first.

  11. Love it love it love it!! Way to go Bills! Gave up a 3rd and 7th...okay and we got a deep threat......Benjamin-Matthews-Thompson-Jones (if can continue to hold onto the catch like he did last game)-holmes......WR corp looks helluva lot better! Probably wont be ready for Thursday night though....

Agree 100%...well, this definitely proves all of the "we are tanking" people wrong. This is a clear indication that the leadership is gunning for the playoffs.

  12. Hasn't made a single right decision his tenure here. Keeps trading away the only talented players on our roster and for what?

Has anyone taken a look at our DT depth, its horrible. He just handed out a pro bowl DT in the prime of his career for pennies.

NONE of his trades/signings have made any sense. complete shambles.

People think this is a good trade just bc we are 4-2. Wait until November rolls around and the real Buffalo Bills show up just like the last 17 years folks.

This fan base is legit the most delusional in the NFL. no joke. If anyone is responsible for the success of our team right now its DOUG WHALEY

Wow...maybe you are in a parallel universe...are we talking about the same team? Our DT depth may be horrible, but Darius was not the answer especially with the size of his contract. We could get a number of hungry players for much less and they would be more motivated than Darius was after he received his payday.

  13. Whaley had a few good picks the same way a broken clock can have the correct time twice a day. The fact that most of the people he brought in are no longer on the team is a sign that he wasn't the best GM.

haha...this pretty much sums it up. There was no chemistry between Whaley and the coaches who came and went during his "time" at Buffalo. I get the impression that he in over his head...I hope he gets more experience before he takes the reins somewhere else.
