    The NFL moves fast.

McDermott is under.500 Head Coach overall (15-17).  Under .500 in the AFC EAST (4-8).  One of the worst at Replay Challenges (1 for 10).

under McDermott the Bills Offense went from 19 points per game in 2017 to 16 points per game in 2018.  And his speciality is NOT on Offense so it’s not like we are looking to Him for ideas on fixing the offense.

    IMO

2019 will be McDermotts 3rd Season and Allen’s 2nd Season.  AND IF YOU WANT to hold Buffalo to the bar/standard of other teams around the league then the pressure on MCDERMOTT and ALLEN is tremendous.

I’m not sure I see a scenario where they both survive 2019 unless it ends in Playoffs.

Extremely excited you don't own the Bills.

  2. Most people in this thread are a complete joke. Here are the facts:

Nationally starting to be recognized as one of the best coach/GM combos in the league.

Took one of the worst cap situations and turned it into arguably the best situations in 2 seasons by trading away "talent" that has not produced since the day they left.

Won 6 and were competitive in all but 4 games with $50 million in cap space and starting rookies, UDFA, and second year players at over 1/2 of the 22 starting positions.

First playoff birth in 17 years and one of the most memorable days in the history of the Buffalo Bills the day they clinched as a first year HC/GM.

Drafted the most exciting QB and player the franchise has had in 25 years and maybe ever, and by all accounts, has outperformed what was expected.

Drafted a 20 year old middle linebacker that looks, by all accounts, like a superstar and someone that can lead this defense for a decade.

Orchestrated one of the best retirement days of a loved player, certain to be on the WOF.

And that's just a portion of it, doesn't include the hiring of Daboll, Frazier, the 2nd ranked defense in 2018, Tre White, Matt Milano, Taron Johnson.

7 head coaches were fired the last 2 days, plus McCarthy. Many of them will get another HC job. You want any of those retreads?

3 more years minimum folks. Any less would be a joke just like the Armchair GM's and HC's in this thread.

    1. Dead Cap was their choice, not imposed on them. They chose to trade talent away for culture.

    2. Agree, you get what you pay for and the Bills (McDermott/Beane) don't value offense seemingly. The FA's they have signed are the bottom of the barrel.

    3. Seemingly yes, the rocket armed QB debunks the checkdown offense. However, the WR's we have are slow possession guys with no vertical speed.  The entire group needs to be gutted and another Tight End is needed to phase out Clay. Also, RB has been non-inventive, as the plan is to run 30-year old McCoy into the ground or hand the ball to grinders like Mike Tolbert and Chris Ivory. Again, no speed, no crosses.

    4. I know I'm not smart enough. Of course I should just shut up and wait 5 years for results. Nevermind we've heard that crap forever in Buffalo. That rebuilding takes years and years and years. Too bad in the NFL you don't get 5 years. Making the Playoffs in 2017 gave the Bills the pass in 2018 and sets the table for 2019. But the tone around the Bills has already started to change with the Peterman debacle twice this season already. I don't care if Beane has a plan. If this team finishes the year with the worst offense in the league and the Bills get off to a slow start in 2019, then that seat is going to get really hot on Allen and McDermott/Beane.

It always comes down to just wait longer for the billievers. Just need to keep waiting and eventually the Bills will be dominating the league. I was as happy as the next guy the Bills made the Playoffs last season. But that was a game we could have won if not for a bonehead passing call on the goal line. With as bad as Bortles played we should have won. So you keep waiting and watching the league pass the Bills by. It's only been 23 years since the Bills last Playoff win and we're 2-4 this year, with the QB the Bills selected 7th overall struggling and now hurt.

1 year and a great weekend where some amazing things happened including one of the great Bills moments put on tape of the locker room when they made the playoffs for the first time in 17 years. One Bill great, Eric Wood made the playoffs before unexpectedly needing to retire and Wall of Fame shoe in Kyle Williams celebrating the playoffs with his kids. All with dumping the stink of Darius, Watkins et al. I'll take that year one.

Drafting a franchise QB and watching a #3 defense with a franchise rookie middle linebacker, a 2nd year lock down corner, a possible franchise 2nd year Outside linebacker, what looks like a stud rookie nickle back and stud DL to replace Kyle Williams is a pretty good start to year 2.

Look, I know the offense sucks, it's well documented. But it hasn't been addressed yet other than the QB and he's getting valuable playing time and IMO looks and sounds like the part in terms of intangibles and persona plus he's Uber talented. I just think it is way too early and completely unfair to even put McDs name and hot seat in the same sentence. Now the mantra seems to be "we haven't WON a playoff game in 23 years" and I think it's crazy to think McD and Beane can't do it and in fact in a year and a half, I think they are closer than they have been in 23 years.

It's not stupid just because you don't agree.

McDermott approaches the game almost the same way. Ride the running game, run clock, punt and play field position, ride the defense, and hope to win the turnover battle.

When the Bills lose, its the Dick Jauron playbook - Watch tape and correct mistakes, throws he'd like to have back, delicate balance.

The bedrock is McDermott is a conservative defensive minded Head Coach. Jauron was the same. Both loved the lunchpail guys, both overly obsessed with Special Teams.

You know the Bills have 50 million in dead cap money right? You know The Bills offense has a payroll of 55 million dollars, second to last, in the entire NFL. (Oakland has the most at 98 million and they are a Trainwreck), right? You know the Bills released Tyrod Taylor who would be a Dick Jauron love child for his type of offense, right? You do know Beane and McD drafted the one QB in the draft which debunks the idea of a ball control offense as the franchise QB right? You do know that McD and Beane have a five year plan, right?

Look, you obviously aren't smart enough to understand how hard it is to break down an NFL football team and rebuild it and how long it should take (while making the  playoffs for the first time in 17 years IN YOUR FIRST YEAR AS HEAD COACH I might add) so would suggest you sit back, relax and enjoy the games until he has an opportunity to grow the offense like he has the defense (Top 5 right?).

The Bills, once again, are being run by those who are in over their head.

They're wonderful people, but the Pegulas knack for hiring people is sort of reflective of the "Peter Principle" is uncanny.

(The Peter Principle is the tendency of promoting those who reach the levels of incompetence in a given position.)

Oooo, another self proclaimed expert with a witty forum name criticizing the owners of an NFL franchise. This is a real doozy though. Criticizing the hiring practices of a billionaire by an internet troll takes the cake. You are special one sir.

I'll let you get back to sniffing your autographed Josh Allen jock strap.

Interesting comment by an uneducated troll considering I didn't comment on the play of the QB and you have no idea what I think of the rookie. You can't evaluate an NFL QB or his mental make up. You can't tell if he's over his head. You are not smart enough.

Regarding pulling Allen for Nate, you answered your own question.

    No, that's not an option.

Regarding the rookie QBs, Josh Rosen who should be a Bill had a terrific game today for a guy so green; he made a bunch of good throws and was playing, in general, at a level beyond what Allen has shown so far.

I did not like the Allen pick and wanted us to take Rosen at that spot, but that's not coloring my analysis.

There is like a 7 minute video showing all of Rosen's throws today; watch it.  It speaks for itself.

Your take after today is that the Bills should have taken Rosen? Bwaaaa haaa haaa haaa haaa. The Cards played Seattle at home while the Bills played the Packers on back to back games on the road after playing Baltimore, the Chargers and the Vikings????? Holy **** that's funny. You are incredibly clueless.

Call me a troll or whatever, as I got ripped for my last post for complaining about losing Woods, Watkins,

and Goodwin for almost nothing and replacing them with this group of WRs. The Pats tried Decker and

Gordon this year. They both may not work out, but at least they TRIED to improve their WRs.

    1. We have no QB mentor to help teach Allen this year, unless you think he should learn the position

    from Nathan Peterman.

    2. Low balling Incognito before his breakdown backfired, and we have been blaming OCs from before

Marone's time for our OL problems, when the real problem is a lack of competent GMs who

haven't had a clue on OL talent, and please don't tell me to trust the process.

    3. Our WR core is among or maybe the worst in the league. You can refer to the first paragraph

    for my thinking on that.

The bottom line is if Allen gets no help to correct his physical errors, and continues to run for his life

messing up his mental makeup, he won't make it here.

I'll just go ahead and call you a troll instead of trying to respond to this nonsensical take on the situation. You have no clue.

You are in the minority of fans willing to state the obvious--that Josh Allen is in over his head.

It is ridiculous, as some have done, to suggest his performance can't be evaluated because the team is bad around him.  The team is bad around him, but pass protection is not bad on every play, not all receivers are covered on every play, etc.

There's plenty to evaluate.  What is concerning is that the things he is struggling with now are things he has always struggled with and define his game.  His horrid pocket presence is one of those.  His inability to read a defense pre-snap is another.  His accuracy problem is a third.

You, like most like most internet forum trolls, are not smart enough to evaluate NFL QB play.

    Troy Aikman

    John Elway

Drafted: No. 1 overall by the Baltimore Coltsin 1983 (traded to Denver Broncos).

First start: Win (14-10) over the Steelers in Week 1 of 1983; 1 of 8 (12.5 percent) for 14 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception, four sacks and a passer rating of 0.

    Alex Smith

Drafted: No. 1 overall by the San Francisco 49ers in 2005.

First start: Loss (28-3) to the Colts in Week 5 of 2005; 9 of 23 (39.1 percent) for 74 yards, zero touchdowns, four interceptions, five sacks and a passer rating of 8.5.

    Fran Tarkenton

Drafted: No. 29 overall (third round) by the Minnesota Vikings in 1961.

First start: Loss (21-7) to the Cowboys in Week 2 of 1961; 8 of 24 (33.3 percent) for 117 yards, zero touchdowns, two interceptions, three sacks and a passer rating of 15.5.

Now in now way am I saying Peterman is on the level of anyone on this list, but the list proves a point.   Young Qbs usually always SUCK, even the ones that turn out great and end up in the hall of fame.

What bothers me is vicious people are over a dude who plays on our team, who's young an inexperienced as hell, yet after 10 quarters of football you experts have decided he doesn't belong.

The hypocrisy is ridiculous.  Allen will fail.  He will fail because this team is in full on rebuild mode whether anyone at OBD admits it or not.  There is no talent on the Oline, no real talent at the We positions, and nothing that even resembles a legitimate receiving TE.   On top of it we are on the second OC in two years, and the one we have now is a reject.

Peterman has definitely made mistakes, but to cast away and demoralize a guy after 1 year and 10 quarters of NFL football, with one of the shittiest supporting casts in the league, and facing the most elite Ds in the NFL ON THE ROAD in his very short time in there, is in one word....retarded.

It's he the next Joe Montana?   The second coming of Drew Brees?  Most likely not, but that doesn't mean he won't improve and end up as a solid number 2, or a career journeyman starter.

This would be a great argument if McD bench Josh Allen, a number 1 pick after his first start since he is a first round pick and the future of the franchise. Comparing those QB's to a 5th round pick after not 1 but 2 historically bad starts is crazy.

How much would you like to wager?

Give me the points and I will wager all you want. Early line is 8 at my book.  I also believe the Bills will play well in the home opener and I am cautiously optimistic after watching the team play when Allen was in the game.

  12. Nathan Peterman was the worst player on that field. He makes every other player worse that is on the field with him including KB. The offensive line is worse cause he has no pocket presence and can't sxramble, the RB's worse cause his passing game scares no one and the D stacks the box, and his WR's cause he has a weak arm and is not accurate. KB was not good but saying he was the worst player on the field is not a good take.

My buddy said before the game that Nate looked scared. He doesn't portray confidence or inspire teammates. Josh seems to immediately do that. You saw it in preseason. Even when Nate was great he didn't seem to change his demeanor outside of the immediate joy of a TD. He panics in real games. It's pretty obvious.

This exactly. If people can't see the team has a different, more positive aura about it when Allen is on the field then I just don't understand it. All great QB's seem to have that quality. He may not end up being great, but he has that quality. Nate Peterman has the exact opposite.

Asinine or not, it's what posters on here are asking of Allen.

I'll give you Deshaun Watson, but it would seem QBs with elite athleticism would have a much better chance at early success due to their ability to take off and run. Allen can do some of that but it's not exactly the same thing.

Allen has elite athleticism. Some of which are more impressive than Watson.

  15. The problem Jerry Sullivan and many older reporters in many different media markets, is that it gets to the point where he thinks he is smarter than the people making real decisions. Because of that, no matter the outcome of any situation he wrote with a negative bias to the point if it being Fake News and more importantly he interacted with the Bills Brass with this same negativity. It was getting worse. Any New ownership, new General Manager and new Coach would take offense to his attitude. If McD thinks Sullivan or any media personnel is undermining the culture he is trying to instill he would do something about it. I am confident McD is a straight shooter, had some conversations surrounding the guy both within the organization and outside it (the BN) to get him to back off and he wouldn't. McD was and still is "draining the swamp" and media is part of it.
