    9. Seeing players suffer lifetime injuries makes it harder and harder for me to enjoy football at all levels

    10. We need a realignment of divisions in nfl based on proximity

Two of the best opinions i've read.

We are watching the downfall of the game happen right in front of us.

It doesn't on my review. I watched every game back at the end of the year as I do every year and I thought Star was a 6/10. He was the definition of average starter.

    Isn't the definition of average 5/10? ;)

I kid I kid.. Well to be fair, you don't know what he was asked to do on certain plays. I thought Star did a pretty good job of holding gap responsibility on a pretty consistent basis.

That isn't what the tap showed last year. It showed a guy moveable in the run game and useless at penetrating into the backfield.

Everyone is moveable....... He doesn't lose many one on one battles. The tape showed that Star did his job and did it pretty consistently.  No one thought that Star was coming in here to get 10 sacks a year.

What evidence do you have to support your claim about Gase? He had Peyton Manning to run the offense in Denver.  I agree he had little talent in Miami but he had some talent on offense.

Tannehil and Jay Cutler (retired and unretired) and still managing to win 7 games.

Went to the play offs with Tannehil as his QB. I think Darnold is much better than Tannehil with a much better supporting cast. We will see this year. I hope i'm wrong......

Josh McDaniels neither went to the playoffs, nor won a playoff game with Tim Tebow. He drafted tim Tebow. Then he got fired. Fox was the coach by the Tebow year.

Yeah, you are right on the Tebow stuff.. I had the wrong year..... ooooooops ..

Nevertheless.. He will be a great head coach after BB hangs it up or someone offers him something he can't turn down. He is a genius.

Agree to an extent on Gore though still good to see him in the colours one of my favourite players in the league.

    Star is average and overpaid.

I disagree about Star.... I always wonder if people watch him actually play and understand the DT position.

  6. -Josh McDaniels will be the next great head coach. In fact, I'd rather have him over McDermott (and i like McDermott)

Much of Tom Brady's success should be attributed to him. He did have a weird falling out with the Broncos but he went to the playoffs and won a game with Tim Tebow.

His game planning is unreal. He knows his offenses weaknesses and covers them significantly.

There are plenty of coaches that got a second chance and turned out to be great. (BB, Pete Carroll, JDR unjustly fired, Kubiak, etc etc)

-Adam Gase is a better head coach than Bills fans want to believe. He was left talentless and injury ridden in Miami.

-The Bills do not need Frank Gore and he shouldn't be on this team.

-Star gets a lot of flack for some reason around here and i think he is a very good football player

    Well warrior9 again, let's analyze.

Who Quarterbacked the Seahawks? Not Trent Dilfer. HOFer Russell Wilson on a rookie deal.

Who did Seattle have on their team? HOF QB, Pro Bowl Running back, Chancellor (5th Rounder), Richard Sherman (5th Rounder), Earl Thomas, Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright, Mike Bennett. All were elite talents during their rise to the top.

The Broncos had a HOF OLB leading their pass rush, and another HOFer in Demarcus Ware when they won their SB, along with Talib, Chris Harris, TJ Ward, Derek Wolfe, and D.Thomas and Emanuel Sanders at WR.

The point is, the Seahawks got really good when they stacked 3 straight great drafts together,  had a young core and a QB on a rookie deal. You had real high end NFL talent.

The Broncos likewise had young guys in their prime, mixed in with capable HOF veterans. We have 35 year old Kyle Williams and 35 year old Lorenzo Alexander that we hope will be around when we get good.

Its not that defense "doesn't matter". But right now, our defense has to give up 12 points or less for our team to have a chance, and Elway/Schneider have shown they can build Championship level defense.

When the Ravens won in 2000, they had HOFers, Lewis, Woodson, Tampa in 2002 with Sapp, Lynch and Brooks.

The Bills have a tough nosed defense. But its not 1985 Bears and trying to win this way is increasingly getting harder to do, let alone sustain over span of years.

Maybe the Bills can win this way, maybe their GM can build the next great generational defense. At this point I'd almost prefer that to our FO blowing picks on building an offense. If Zay Jones is any indication, or Mike Tolbert, or Rod Streater, or Jeremey Kerley, or Kaolin Clay, or Kahari Lee, or Nate Peterman or Kelvin Benjamin, or Vlad Duccasse, I'm not sure I want to see Brandon Beane or Sean McDermott blow picks trying to help the offense.

Wait... waht? What did we analyze? You named players and the rounds they were drafted and called Russel Wilson a HOFer.... not really sure what you'er analyzing

Anyway.... All you did there was prove you can with with D....Also, Vlad Duccasse is in the top 5 guards pass blocking wise this year.......

So why bring up Allen’s record as if it tells us anything or somehow proves we shouldn’t be worried about him?

    We shouldnt be yet.

its been 4 games.. thats why

The big problem is hearing that year in and year out for 20 years gets old, ya know.

Theyve been here for a year and we made the play offs..... i get that it gets old.... but we may actually have a solid foundation here for the first time in a long time.

Who are you spending this cap space on. Cant just be G, WR. Give me some damn names. I keep hearing oh the Bills have all the cap space. So do teh Colts, Jets, Chiefs, Cowboys, Texans.

Overpaying UFA's puts you in cap hell. Which everyone complained about the last regime doing. Blind faith i guess.

What is your draft success rate?. One of those will be on the D-line when Buffalo picks at the top of the draft.

No, the idea is that you draft well.. Find a few good players with good contracts in free agency that can contribute (Poyer, Hyde, etc) and spend the money to keep your own talent. (Allen, Milano, Tre, Dawkins, Edmunds, etc)

Watch the Patriots and Chiefs and come back to this board and say this honestly.

The Bills are not even in the league right now.

They are nowhere when it comes to real winning.

And you're okay with it because we have a few defensive pieces in an era where defense doesn't win and because the Coach/GM/Quarterback are new so you can hide behind the "it's early" card.

Honestly the thought process this Coach and GM have towards team building is rightfully being put under the microscope.

    I watched the game yesterday....

The Broncos and Seahawks have both won SB's (im not saying we're them) in the last 5 years with defense.. so yes, defense does matter....

go show me more 43-40 games and come back to this board.... that wasn't football... that was a 4th quarter track meet.

I think it's okay to question particular moves of this regime. It won't help having all that cap space for free agents and draft picks if they don't use them well. Some posters suggest there isn't likely to be a lot of quality free agents in our positions of need. Idk, but so far I don't see much reason to think McD and Beane can evaluate the offensive side of the ball properly. I'm not sold on any of the offensive coaches, though they may turn out well. I liked Josh Allen before the draft and I still think he can be good but besides reps he also needs good coaches and players around him. Patience is going to be hard to come by when they are this level of awful on offense.

Coaching is what has me worried from an OC/ offensive coaching standpoint (similar to your thoughts) ... i think talent wise, this offseason will tell a lot about their ability to evaluate offensive talent.

Wow, people have differing opinions on a football board

and some are too positive and some too negative

    imagine....

I'm very indifferent man. There's things I like.. things i dislike about this team... I'm just not overreacting and I'm giving this regime an off-season with cap to get THEIR guys.... then i'll judge.

I'm honestly worried about McDermotts ability to select an OC more so than I am build a team.

I never said they were, but you claimed that this regime got rid of "useless" talent, which is simply no true.

You named 6 players.. We couldn't afford 3 ... one is OK...?

    Just now, ddaryl said:

how does anyone not get the negativity. Once again we have an completely inept offense, and little to show at QB.

How does one not be negative, and unfortunately I don't see it getting much better this year and to be honest not sure it would get better next year no matter what we do because we could very well be still looking for a QB. All the help in the world isn't going to make up for what we are seeing from the QB position. Maybe much more patience and hope to god the light bulb comes on for Allen.... As of today the light bulb is barely lit in regards to  reads and decision making

I'm not blaming Allen for it all but he has also done so little to bolster the belief he can be a franchise QB in  the NFL.

oh well keep suffering through more seasons and one of these decades we will be good again....

Did you expect us to be good this year?

  14. 1 minute ago, Boatdrinks said:

This team was not talentless when the McDermott/ Beane administration took over. Their player moves made it so. While the QB may be “ their guy”, he doesn’t look very good thus far. It’s less than encouraging that they also thought Nathan Peterman was a viable QB prospect. It cannot be overstated that the offense taking the field is on an historically bad pace. Whether rebuilding or not, historically bad can never be an acceptable result.

I'm negative because we had a good chance to win and our QB threw a pick 6 to lose the game......I guess I don't enjoy losses like some of you here

So Josh Allen 5 games in... 2-2 as a starter.. and he's got you worried?

Yeah, Peterman is bad. That's established... We signed Derek Anderson so Peterman will probably never see the field again.

    - It look like they may go 0-2 on OC’s.

    - They definitely screwed up the QB position

    - Special teams is a mess

    - The jury is still out on Allen- hard to judge him

    - Zay Jones hasnt lived up to us moving up in the second- juju-schuster was there

The list is long, just a few off the top of my head

Zay Jones has been quietly prettyyyyyy good this year.... I think hes #2 or 3 in the NFL in yardage separated from defenders per route.

Completely wrong, as has been discussed multiple times here.

    1. The Rex/Whaley roster got this team to the post season last year.

    2. Cap problems were created by Beane.  He chose a mountain of dead cap space in 2018.  It was not forced on him.

    3. Hyde, Poyer, Hughes, KW are absolutely NOT players selected by Beane or McDermott.

    4. Team is less talented this year than they were last year.

    5. Building a team in free agency hardly sounds like "doing it the right way for the future" but the Process works in mysterious ways.

It all hinges on Allen.  If he pans out then its all good.  If not, total failure.  As it stands, the league's 31st worst passing offense has taken a step back in 2018.

    1) We had a 60% roster turn over... No.

2.) He was getting rid of those that werent helping us win and had bad contracts

    3) Hyde and Poyer were definitely signed by Beane LOL WHAT?

4.) Obiously theyre creating cap space

5.) You need cap space to sign your draft picks.

useless talent? Woods, Brown, Watkins (yes him too), Hogan, Darby, Gilmore...you can argue "scheme", but I don't buy it.

I would take any of the aforementioned WRs over what the Bills currently have.

The highlight of this regime's impact is defense, but as we all saw last night, offense wins games and the Bills have the weakest in the league.

Watkins has been non-existent this year an was DECENT last year.... We could not afford Preston Brown or Gilmore..... Darby is OK. He would not translate to wins... our DB's are not the issue.

I think some get it, and see it.

Basically, most of their moves were geared toward this offseason.  The Bills are set up better than anyone to improve their team with the freed up cap space and picks.

    Exactly....

here's my thought... If you explain this to a person WITHOUT using a team name.. People would love to be in this situation.

Seemingly top 3 secondary (with a second year CB that is most likely a future All-Pro)

A 20 year old stud at MLB (and Milano growing into a nice player)

A young DT that has played well above where he was drafted and has been very impressive

A left tackle that is young and improving with every game

A young first round QB (and this regime believes it's their guy)

80+ Million in cap space next year

    10(i believe) draft picks
