I think Bernard could be better than Edmunds, but that's big leap for Williams to be better than Milano, who is being talked about as one of top 10 in league if not higher.

That being said Williams could be better than Milano post injury or at least through the 2024 season.  By 2025 Williams is in his 3rd year, so could see him replacing Milano barring a miraculous recovery.  Certainly this injury will drastically accelerate Williams learning curve.

But overall IMO team would be better right now, by year end, and in 2024 with Milano & Bernard as the starters.

I mean, Milano was All-Pro last year which means he's top 2-3.

Ironic, the nfl want to keep putting safety rules in place yet injuries are sky rocking at a faster pace than ever before. Seems to be having the opposite affect.

Exactly, there are more injuries because players are having to think about every move.

When you're a defender and you have to move you head back, can't go too low, can't tackle this way, etc.... you are putting yourself at risk.

I think another issue is, there is far less hitting and tackling in practices so bodies arent used to it.

now try imagine what it would look like w out the safety rules lol

it would be an absolute bloodbath

I disagree. Thinking too much puts you at more risk.

There aren't rules for tackling other than no horse collar and no high hits. The more you implement, the more there will be.

I genuinely believe the soft nature of practices has led to more injuries. You can't just walk through practice, get hit a minimal amount of times, and then expect to go full force with a 245 lb linebacker running a 4.3 with no injury.. it's lunacy.

  3. The utter cries on this board after a loss is absolutely embarrassing.

We traveled over seas with a 6 hour time difference 2 days before the game and played a team that has been there for 2 weeks. The field was awful and the jags had been practicing on it. They came out flat like 99% of all teams would in this scenario. The overseas games are a joke.

    The Bills will be fine.

  4. Jalen Ramsey is up there with Jamaal Adams and Trevon Diggs as most overrated players in the NFL.. He had a few good seasons and some really cool plays so everyone appoints them as some football superstars without actually watching them play.

It's a trap game.  They always play us tough and we are coming off a high.  This is an evolutionary step,we need to beat a team we should beat coming off a game like the fins.

It's not really a trap game. They are/were a play off team and the best team in their division.

Berrios is a UFA next year too so they are in alot of trouble.  Also used Draft capital that they could have used to fill this team with impactful rookie contracts on the Chubbs, Ramseys, and Armsteads of the world.  Now they have no major talent on Rookie Deals.

It looks to me like a Bills year two (under McD) stepback coming next year to be honest.  It looks work than I thought.

    39M over the cap

    39 Players on Contract

Javon Holland being really the ONLY impact player on a Rookie Deal (Achane too but that is a RB)

Connor Williams (primary OG) and now showing can start at Center as well  He will get 15M AAV in market.

Wilkins - Smart move here is to deal him at the deadline for picks (they wont this is their window) but they will not re-sign him he wants top 5 DT money and in Fangios defense not the same player two gapping - So he will leave and they will love the 3rd compensatory as well because they will need to sign UFAs

Van Ginkel - will be paid either in MIA or elswhere Fangio defense he is excelling in and will make himself alot of money this year

Elliott - should be re-signed (likely will get paid elsewhere) but really the ONLY safety that fits what Fangio wants to do.

To be honest the RIGHT way for MIA to fix their defense is Fire the locked in his way Fangio and hire a DC that will tailor His effective scheme to the players (maybe Salah once he is fired).

I love Javon Holland's game. He has future Bill written all over him (that would be great)

All in all, I agree with this post.

That Chubb contract is an Anchor.

They did set themselves up to make the Run this year or Bust.

That Entire Defense will get an overhaul as Fangio wants "HIS" players.  and there are already signs of that Howard not following Diggs, Howard then coming out and allude to the "scheme" so he will do as asked.

Issue is they overpayed for some really mediocre players and injury risks.  And now hanging.

Waddle or Hill will be gone within 2 years they are not paying two.  And Fin Fans are getting tired of Waddle disappearing act in big games and availability issues, (ooo he also has alot of drops in their minds)

    That's basically it, yepp.

Diggs has a lot of drops too. It happens, it's the NFL. When you're targets 100+ times, drops happen. If they push him out, again, I'll be elated and they deserve to be bottom dwellers. Who will be afraid of Hill, Berrios, and Smythe? LOL

I agree that was a great performance and it was in the playoffs, so that’s huge.  All that said, the Pats were not a team you really worried about.  They had no passing attack all year and we knew it, the offense destroyed them and the Defense played a great game obviously.  I still feel this was a far more impressive game all around, considering the roll the Phins had been on and to be fair, the Bills had not shown up in all three phases in about 8 games.   Yesterday was dominance of a team the majority of people expected to beat you.  That was never the case in the Pats game, they barely squeaked into the game and got pummeled the way they were expected to.

    I don't disagree.

  9. 2 minutes ago, MAJBobby said:

He is on his 5th year next year.  A re-signing even with top money lowers his immediate hit.

I think Waddle will be gone and not get a second contract

    Wilkins will walk

Williams NEEDS to be re-signed he handles the protections not Tua

Waddle I have a big feeling doesnt see a second contract either

If Waddle walks, I'd be elated. He USUALLY does good work on us.

    Wilkins is a scumbag

and if they don't prioritize Connor Williams they're going to be F--- more on the OL than they already are.

OK, think about this: They let wilkins, ogbah and jerome baker walk.. they have to replace them... how do they do that? with WORSE talent? So THIS is their SB window year?

Absolutely, the one saving grace is one was followed by a fumble the very next play.

If you really look at this game, the Bills coulda/ really should have had 2 more turnovers go their way and Shakir should have caught the pass and walked into the end zone, his jump screwed him up and he never was ready for an absolutely perfect pass.  (I am seeing why he’s not on the field more, now).  It was an absolute domination and there was room for it to have been a 5 or 6 score differential.   This is the most complete game I have seen from the Bills since the Super Bowl era and that is no hyperbole.  When you consider the level of competition they just did that to, the only other game that’s close in the Josh era is the Pats playoff game, but be honest, that Pats team was not close to the same level.

STRONGLY disagree. That was one of the most perfect games ever played, quite literally.

EDIT: I misread "Pats team" as "Pats game" but still, play offs vs. 4th game of the year. That Pats game was WILD man.

35 on contract and 22M over cap.  Can make that up easy with some smart financial things.

Kick Hills can down the road frees up like 16-18M

Re-sign TUA can get his cap hit down to 8Mish.  That would put them cap compliant.

Ogbah and Baker gone and there is about 16M to sign players.  Will likely need to do some more, but they are not too bad cap wise YET.

Yeah but Wilkins, Connor Williams, and Waddle also need BIG contracts.

I agree, there are things they can do (as evidenced by the saints getting down 50M every year somehow) but they are close to being in trouble.

  12. Obviously yesterday's game was dominated by the Bills but Miami is still a very good football team with a ton of talent. They're going to win a lot of games this year and will keep pace with us for the division.

They're clearly the closest team to us for the foreseeable future within the division (Rodgers may have a year but that will be short lived) so I went to Spotrac to see what their cap situation looks like for next year ..... and it's not good. Their top 5-6 players are all WAY over paid, uncuttable, and most of them aren't performing (outside of Hill).

    Hill- 31M - 52 dead cap

Jalen Ramsey- 27M - 32.5 Dead Cap- WAAYY past his prime and coming off an injury.

Chubb- 27M- 42 Dead cap- Has been an AWFUL trade / signing

Xavien Howard- 26M - 27 dead cap - Hasn't been good for years

    Terron Armstead - 20M - 24 Dead cap - 32 and oft injured

Ogbah on the hook for 17 and Jerome Baker for 14.

This is without signing Tua yet, without signing Christian (the dirtbag) Wilkins, Waddle, Connor Williams etc. They have had some horrific deals and they clearly need help across the OL, at LB, and Safety. Seems like Grier has strapped this team with bad deals ... LOVE to see it.

Most underrated play for me was 7-7 and Josh hitting Knox for 11 12 yards but Knox destroyed the DB , got extra yards and had an awesome celebration.  Thought that set the tone on O that we're way more physical and yall can't do nothing about it, we're going to bully you.

Then this sequence- 3rd and 18 , 21 14 Buf, Dolphins scored 2 straight drives, way short and Mosert fumbles, recovered by Fins.

Bills get ball back and that crazy Diggs TD happens.  28 14 Bills

Dolphins ball , 3rd and inches , force another Mosert fumble, recover and set up the FG to go into HT up 31 14

They said we're not satisfied with just stopping you, we're taking that ball away too

That 3 drive sequence sealed the deal and goes back to the Knox play where Bills were just way more physical and were bullying them

    The funny thing is:

We had 2 dropped picks, 1 missed fumble recovery... This game wasn't close.

Yeah I like Dan O too. How good you were doesnt mean you cant coach / know what you're doing.. there are plenty of coaches that weren't successful in the NFL or shoot, even made it in the NFL (our coach).

But to be very honest, now that people have calmed down a litttttttttle, the loss was the best thing for the Bills. Josh needs to realize he isnt going to get wins or things handed to him because he's Josh Allen. I think over the next few weeks, Josh will propel himself into the MVP conversation. He needed a wake up call.

Revisiting this thread so people can see how much they overreact vs. how much we believed in JA.

He'll eat some bad fish & chips in London

Well, first, one of the objectives is to have Allen run less, so I'm not in a hurry to run QB draws.

That's not the point. The point is it takes that element and threat out of the game. You have to prepare for that. You don't need to spy as much (taking a guy out of coverage) when under center. You can't run play action 80% of the time.

Like i said, i think somewhere in the 35-40% would be fine in a game where clock control is important. The mix Dorsey had last game was perfect.

How does playing under center eliminate draw plays?

Folks also tend to gather at the extreme poles so they can yell at each other.

No one is saying eliminate shotgun and spread, but putting Allen under center more will improve play action, timing, less turnovers, efficiency - the numbers show that....

Especially this season since we are running less empty spread and more 12 personnel.

QB Draws? Because it's not 1970 and D-linemen run 4.4 40's. Taking a 5 step drop back to a draw will not work in today's NFL.. I challenge you to find the last time a team ran a DESIGNED QB draw from under center.

No one is saying they should eliminate under center. I quite literally said, I can get on board with 35-40%. You also have to realize, the more we do it, the more film there is, the more preparation, and in result, the numbers will suffer. The reason it's successful right now is because of the amount of time we're under center.
