  1. I know I'm going to regret this, but just maybe Dennison had no faith in Tyrod's ability to execute the changes and adjustments necessary last week against Carolina. In a one score game maybe he felt the odds were better Shady would break one or two than Taylor suddenly seeing the whole field quickly enough to throw receivers open. Let's see this week before we crucify the OC with two weeks worth of evidence.

I don't know why you'd regret that. It could be true. But he's the same coordinator that put our offense in a shell after we took the lead in the Jets game and depended on a late game interception.

You'll get no guff from me saying Taylor handicaps our offense. None at all, the dude shouldn't be out there.

He's a backup at best, and he's playing exactly as a backup should. Limit the mistakes and hope our defense can win it for us.

It's certainly no way to gameplan with your starter. and it's certainly not indicative of "unleashing" your qb.

  2. And I think the counterpoint is that a lot of people here seem to be saying Peterman is clearly the better option than Taylor. If he is and gives the team the better chance to win, why isn't he starting?

    Exactly. Why isn't he starting?

The offense is super predictable and bland. The offensive coordinator isn't making adjustments in the game so why should we expect that he'll make adjustments outside of it?

I've felt this since week one, and especially feel it now after watching the Thursday nighter. We're going to be stuck watching an awesome defense and a vanilla run the first two downs, pass on third offense that we've seen before.

It didn't work in years past and it won't work now.

  3.

We all know the allure of the second string quarterback; it's basic human psychology 101. But this Peterman Thing takes it to whole new levels. All we've seen from NP is preseason play, almost exclusively against (and with) the 2s & 3s. The results were a 54.4% completion percentage for 5.4 yards per attempt. His longest pass was 28 yds long. Taylor played a terrible game against a brutal defense in a regular season contest and still managed 68% completion for 5.0 yards per attempt. There isn't the slightest reason to believe Peterman last Sunday wouldn't have been lambs to the slaughter. There are good reasons why Peterman (like Taylor) was drafted so late. And I think Peterman (like Taylor) has a good chance to prove the critics wrong. But to do so (like Taylor) he's going to have to maximize his talents with discipline, focus and a lot of hard work. Wherever you rank Taylor in the middle-third of current starters, I'll bet he wouldn't have been anywhere near as good if dropped into the lineup his rookie year. You put NP out there now and all you'll do is expose him. His best shot is long term.

Nah... the backup qb nonsense is Bologna. If it was Yates no one is calling his name and everyone knows that. Psychology 101? Ok, fun agenda bud.

Fact is, it's more complex than that.

Starting qb stinks, and is on his way out.

    Peterman has shown some flashes.

Expose him? To what, football? Good, the only way a qb gets better is by playing football. Not watching an inferior qb play football.

Playing Taylor gets nothing accomplished. We're taking a qb in the draft. Playing Peterman at least gives us an idea of what the kid has.

  4.

I think he could be a pretty good backup for us long term.

I don't understand why people are so eager to throw him to the wolves and cripple his development.

Bologna! A qb either has it our they don't. What qb ever needed to sit behind a lesser qb to learn?

What is he learning by watching Taylor? What not to do? They have different skill sets. The only thing to help him to develop is real playing time and practicing with the ones.

  5. If Taylor's been "unleashed" I have no idea what that word means.

Run into the line on first and second down with no ability to audible.

Basically we're unleashing him to throw on third down when we're already in a hole and have to throw when the Defense knows we're throwing.

    Wow... unleashed for sure.

I'll take a leashed Peterman, if that's the case.

  6. I haven't changed my opinion on anything yet, I mean it's week 3.

As I'm typing this Sammy is in the medical tent being evaluated for a concussion. And now going to the locker room. I am telling you he isn't tough enough to last in the NFL. Not just because of this injury, He has had nagging injuries the past few years. That's why I think Woods lasts longer in the league.

It's almost as if Sammy's trying to prove everyone right tonight.
