Minus a couple all-pros on defense out for the year and Von being a nonfiction and Jones'absence and we'd have a chance. I think 3 or 4 wins is more realistic and a long playoff run is out of the question. I'm ready to start looking at Gabe's replacement in the next draft.

As far as McDermott goes, they said much the same about Andt Reid in Philly. He may have his shortcomings, but so does Bellechick and he's won 6 SB's. I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

Hypothetically how many years in a row of not making the playoffs would you take with McDermott as HC before you'd consider replacing him?

This would be a winey and peckerhead thing for Josh to do. I can't see him doing that.   If he did though I would hope Terry tells him to pack his trash.

Sure he's going to keep McDermott over a generational QB.

I've seen a lot of posts in my life on different messages boards, Twitter, family dinners, Facebook, drinking with buddies, but this takes the cake.

  3. I can see 2026 now, the Bills coming off another year of not making the playoffs, now making 3 years in a row.

The Bills still rolling out McDermott as their head coach.  First game ever at a new stadium not being a sellout.

All because they were happy McDermott helped break the drought.

    Was the process worth it?

agree.  if they beat the Chiefs, McD will suddenly be the greatest coach of all time.  I guess that's why they call them fanatics!

What about 12 men on the field and :13 seconds, those aren't just bounces of the football and bad luck.  Those are criminally negligent decisions at the top.

People here act as if McD is the worst coach since Hank Bullough was here when he is the second winningest coach in franchise history which one would think would allow him a bit of grace from the fans for such a difficult season all around .

This happens to teams every year ! Last year the Vikings were 13 & 4 overall for the season and won a lot of their games by 1 score & this season they are 6 & 6 just like the Bills . I'm sure there are other teams past & present that have experienced the same type of things .

I feel that stability with in a franchise is a top priority . The Bills through out the drought years didn't have any you could almost bet that every 2 to 3 years they would have a new coach .

The last winning coach we had was fired by the owner because he was a football guy that made football decisions best for the team, despite his winning record he was fired and the rest as they say is history .

Seeing as the Bills are no longer bottom dwellers I'll ride this one out and see where McD & Beane can take it .

The viking also don't have a generational unicorn as their QB.  This Bills team should be competing for a Super Bowl victory every year.  But no we're not, we can't even make the SB with McDermott as the head coach.  This team now guided by McDermott is just competing to make the playoffs.  Welcome to purgatory, but this time we have the QB just not the HC.

It cited people “familiar with Pegula’s thinking” he has never faced his dilemma so no one knows what he's going to do. There’s 5 weeks left in the season a lot can happen. The entire Von  sitution isn’t going to help his case to stay. Its another garbage article on The Athletic.

    Like Terry listened to Eichel?

Never underestimate the desire of the uber rich to maintain stability and continuity at all costs.

Never forget the “maintain our lifestyle” PowerPoint.

Eichel is nowhere near the star power of Allen dude.   Allen is close to being the face of the league, lol yeah sure they'd keep McDermott over him.

  8. This team isn't going 5-0, especially when these games will all be close and McDermott's decision making will be in the spotlight again.

I'm guessing conservative coaching on defense will be his downfall again...Allen will probably get the lead late in KC, and McDermott's defense will fold.

It sure seems we are living in a matrix and it's the same story every week.
