  1. just being in that division is tough. Though i have a feeling denver isn't going to be "good" this year

That division isn't that good at all.

Each year there is one good team and then the Chiefs.

Oakland and the Chargers haven't been good in the past. Last year Oakland was good and Denver was meh while the Chargers were bad.

Sure KC makes the playoffs only to loose in the first round each year because they aren't all that great.

The only playoff win they have is when they matched up against the Texans the only team that didn't deserve to be in the playoffs more than the Chiefs. It's also worth noting that KC scored points on defense and that's how they won games. Thats not something a team can sustain or live off of especially in the playoffs.

Alex Smith is a QB that went an entire season without a TD to a WR. Think about that, an entire season. l live here in KC and have to hear from their asshat fans and sports shows all season.

    Strength of schedule does matter.

  2. His drafts and cap mismanagement speak for themselves, but....

From Marrone to Rex to McDermott, I still find it baffling our GM in title couldn't have primary say in who our HC should have been.

    4 years, 3 coaches...smh

I can agree that cap management was bad but you can't put any of the coaching hires on him.

Marrone was a Brandon, Nix hire and Rex & McD were Pegulla hires.

We will never know what this team would have done had he hired the coach.

I'm not saying he should have stayed, rather a GM and coach need to be on the same page.

  3. This is part of a bigger conspiracy by the Russians and Obama for world domination.

Now, I have heard that the Pegulas have called in some friends from SHIELD for help and that captain America is on his way along with Spider-Man.

With any luck by the next harvest moon they will have faught off the evil villains and restored order to OBD

  4.

Come on man! 1983 was the year of those QBs.

Darn it, I hit the damn 4 instead of a 3. Good catch.

It just makes you wonder if the Bills were in ANY other division would this 17 year streak be a thing? The Chiefs have been using this model for the past 5 years... Never have they been the best team in the AFC West yet they have been to the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years.

The funny thing is, living in KC the fans are clueless. They honestly think they have a chance at the Super Bowl each and every season. That division is a joke. Sure the AFC East has the Patriots but when you look at strength of schedule KC has it easy each and every season. Andy Reed used that model in Philly for years and people think he's one of the greatest. He's a good coach but how many first round exits does he have?

You misunderstood me...I wasn't saying anything about our draft spot. I was responding to people saying to tank to go higher, and my point was we likely still don't leap frog Jets and Niners, probably not even the Jags. All need QB's. So there is no point in tanking as its not going to likely improve our ability to leap frog some other needy QB teams. Might as well keep our talent, then focus on trading up if need be or taking a guy where we sit so that young QB comes to a better roster. So I have no issue of taking the 3rd QB or whatever, was not my point at all. I am advocating against TANKING as I think it does very little for us in the draft and only weakens this team and makes the rebuild take longer.

I agree...read my comment above in this reply. People missed what I was talking about.

And yes, I totally agree that is a very fair and possible point about Cousins. However, my entire point was against tanking. I don't want to gut this team of talent for more picks on the off chance that a perfect scenario works out where we somehow end up with a worse record that the other teams desperate for a QB.

And, more importantly, the Niners signing Cousins would be huge for us because that would mean their more than likely top 4 possibly top 2 or #1 overall, pick more likely to be in play for a trade...making our need to tank even less necessary because we already have enough trade assets to move up. So again, my whole point is tanking is absurd idea because we more than likely don't move high enough to change what QBs will be available to us and would only prolong our rebuild as we would have a lot more holes to fill before we could compete.

Sorry, I did misunderstand your comment.

I don't even think they need to move up, just get someone (or maybe they already have that person) who can run the system effectively.

  5.

There is no way we will be worse than Jets and Niners...meaning no matter how much we tank, we still get the 3rd QB. So why even bother and instead keep a more talented roster for that young QB to work with and develop faster?

Seriously, people have no concept of the reality of what is really going to happen this year and in the draft. Both Niners and Jets will be competing for #1 spot, the other will get the 2nd, and both will take a QB. We will be taking the 3rd QB regardless, nothing any trade whining can fix...and thats assuming we do take a QB as there is still the possibility that either Taylor or Peterman can play their way into the job this year, even if people think thats a long shot or impossible, it can still happen.

Again, lets assume neither QB makes a legit case for themselves like many believe...we are still drafting the 3rd QB prospect no matter what even if we trade Shady and Taylor (which has been constantly reported that we WONT be) we are still a more talented roster than Niners and Jets. Odds of his leap frogging them in a "tank-off" is very low. And those teams are not going to trade away a chance at the franchise QB they desperately need unless they feel there is a 3rd guy they like better, in which we should just target that 3rd guy too and save as many of our draft assets as we can for more players.

Consider this, in 1984 1983 Dan Marino wasn't considered the top QB nor was he considered in the top 3 yet he was the second to last pick in the first round and look how that turned out for Miami.

    1984 QB's draft order:

    1. Elway
    2. Blackledge
    3. Kelly
    4. Eason
    5. O’Brien
    6. Marino

I'm not worried about where the Bills pick their QB just as long as they get the one to run their system to the best.

  6. dang,

    https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2017/8/19/16174792/watch-every-patrick-mahomes-pass-and-rush-from-the-chiefs-2nd-preseason-game

Will this be yet another Wilson, Carr, Prescott, Bills didn't pick the franchise QB sitting there situation? Dude's only 21 and he looks more poise than Taylor (12 of the top 14 topics on TSW are on him lol) has ever shown.

EJ looked good during preseason at times, hell Peterman and Yates have looked good. Mahomes will be average and the Chiefs will benefit yet again from an easy schedule with a weak ass division that only has one strong team.

Oakland is the best team in that division, Denver and LA aren't very good. Chiefs will more than likely split with Oakland and sweep the other two. 5-1 in their division and then they will go 5-5 outside of their division and end up 10-6 barely making the playoffs only to loose in the first round when they have to play an actual playoff caliber team. Happens every year.

  7. Hughes will be 31 in 2 years. It would be smarter to find another DE in the draft between then and now, pay them half the price, and let another team pay for the downslope of Hughes' career.

If we want this team to find a franchise QB, sooner or later we will have to accept that a franchise QB eats up 20+ million of the cap. You can't be paying your whole DL 10+ million AND a franchise QB 20+ million without opening holes elsewhere. Big picture.

Eddie Yarbrough is only 24 and they really like him, if things continue with Jerry they will trade him and go after someone they want along with draft picks.

  8. Good God son, get off the meds. Trubisky made hard throws, deep throws and accurate throws. Peterman made one nice throw, the td

I don't know about that, Peterman played with the 3rd string an all but he looked comfortable and that rollout throw was a damn nice pass.

Don't confuse my comment. I'm not saying he's starter material I'm just saying for a late round pick he looked really good and he made more than one nice throw.

  9. First preseason game with no game planning and Jones hasn't even played yet.

    Lets see:

    1. Taylor was 5 of 8 for 46 yards and looked very good and decisive with the ball
    2. Yates (A VETERAN) was 6 of 11 for 48 yards and looked serviceable
    3. Peterman (A ROOKIE) was 13 of 25 for 112 with a TD, and he looked very good playing with the 3rd team.

But yea, keeps Jones based on nothing to compare. I think they did exactly what they needed to do and they got value for a scrub.

I personally thought the team looked much improved compared to last season.

  10. The Maclin Decker topic has been fun to watch and read.

Lets look at Maclin for a minute.

He played with a QB that won't push the ball down field and is scared to take a chance or let his play makers go up and get the ball (Alex Smith), not to mention he was out played by a TE and a rookie WR in KC, that along with an injury and large contract made him expendable.

Lets take the injuries out of the equation because you can't plan on them.

If he came to Buffalo he wasn't going to beat out Watkins and with the new offense being centered around a TE, he's likely competing with another rookie WR for that #2 role. Taking a deeper look at that new offense, the Bills are more than likely going to be running two TE sets and Maclin would be fighting for playing time with a rookie WR all over again.

Baltimore was a wise choice for him because now he's the #1 guy there and I'm sure Baltimore offered him more money.

IMO - The Bills did something they normally wouldn't do. They didn't over pay for a player. They stuck to their guns and they did what they should have done. They are building for the long haul and not trying to just fill spots and eat up cap room, and Maclin did what he should have done. Took the money and ran.

I think Decker would be in a similar situation and I hope if the Bills decide to kick the tires on him it's only after he is released and then I hope they stick to their plans and don't try and over pay just to get him.

If they wanted to over pay then they should have just kept Woods because he's better and younger, it's wasn't his fault he wasn't used correctly in Buffalo under Rex.
