It shouldn't have. It was obviously happening in China, as a matter of casual contact (as opposed to close or intimate). A realistic appraisal of the administration's actions would be that they dithered for as much as four weeks on a casual assumption that p2p transmission wouldn't occur here.
I don't even think that was an explicit assumption, just a matter of context. But it was still a bad assumption.
Imagine if it were treatable by toilet paper...
i'll do my daily run through 6 grocery stores within a mile from home and see what i can glean that is currently more priceless than diamonds

Joe invoked the Ebola virus but stayed away from the Swine Flu. That's the one where the Obama administration waited 6 months until there were 1000 deaths before declaring an emergency and then had 12,500 deaths.
i can't tell the 2 apart, one said SARS and the other Ebola

imagine this was treatable by antibiotics and the mass panic that would induce

Folks haven't quite got it about the tibs and garys on this board, they are purposely here
to harass and incite...full on ignore is the only answer, because the responses that they get
are exactly what they are looking for, particularly negative ones. It nourishes and profits them.
They are looking to provoke to get certain responses, and since all this is being archived,
leaving evidence for future control.
These guys are the modern day brown shirts, modified to operate on the internet.

Fake news. Trudeau not only had the coronavirus, he died from it. The current "Trudeau" is a deep-state clone, by the same people that cloned Ginsburg.
Get your ***** together, man.
could use his father's brain and insouciance right now....

It was creepy. But it had a nice beat.
Brandy, you're a fine girl
what a good wife you would make
I'm getting closer to my home (repeat 85 times)

It is out there. There is NO containing it. When the Chinese were not forthcoming, and the whole world did not close their borders to China, the world was *****.
it has been around in every major city since mid-January at the latest

Been three weeks since I stocked up on non-perishables (yes, including toilet paper). Told my wife "No, I'm not panicking. This is prudence, because in about two weeks everyone else is going to panic."
Also told my boss last week (Monday) that I would be full-time remote starting last Thursday, because I have a sister-in-law with COPD living with us, who I don't want to risk exposing to COVID. Not panic, prudence - I'm in close contact with a high-risk individual. Also, since last Monday, me, my wife, and my SIL have been taking our temperatures twice daily. Again, prudence, not panic.
Also had to go out this morning. Wore bright green nitrile gloves from my workshop...less as a barrier against fomites than to make myself hyper-aware of what surfaces I touched, and what risks I might be encountering. Again, prudence.
It's actually a pretty simple set of actions that keep my sister-in-law relatively safe, if you have half a brain. Clearly, most people don't.
thank you for your sane guidance, it was missed...

As much as I would like to ignore Tibs and the liberal college professors who have their own weekend shows a person has to keep an eye on the opposition. Too many impressionable young people out there that need a voice to point out what is wrong with these fools.
Scrooge McDuck (BNBB's)?
there is no point at all with Tibs
just think of a situation, like you see a bottle of sulphuric acid on the counter, Tibs will always advise to drink it

The point? The hype and hysteria are ***** stupid. That is the point.
one night I had to drive home in an ice storm, on the highway i was good at 60 km/h
that took 2 hours without incident
when i got back to the city, for the last few miles home, people were barely crawling around at 20 km, terrified to move at all
i had to put up with it for awhile....
