He’s the 4th nfl player arrested this week. I feel like these guys are in their hometowns much more than they normally would be this year and it’s no coincidence some are finding trouble away from the structure of the team environment. It’s not an excuse obviously.
I shudder to think what I might have done if someone had handed me 10+ million dollars when I was 22.

Does this mean he is not a “process” guy?
?
It all depends on what his off-season goals are.

They both picked Allen. What's the big deal here?
I think the problem is that Josh Allen is generally ranked much higher in quarterback ratings. Comparing Josh to the bottom of the heap is insulting.

OJ would be up there if he hadn't had ... off the field issues ...
I'm good with OJ being up there in this context. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson enslaved countless human beings, and they both undoubtedly had many of those human beings worked to death. Nonetheless, they made the real Mount Rushmore, which focuses narrowly on their accomplishments as presidents. I think OJ's accomplishments as a Buffalo Bill secure his place on the Bill's Mount Rushmore. Unless, of course we wanted to do an upgrade on our Mount . . . .

According to Sportrac, https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/ the Bills have $33,299,716 left in the kitty right now. That number does not include the contracts for Quinton Jefferson, Taiwan Jones, Dean Marlowe, or Tyler Matakevich. I have no idea how much their contracts will count against the cap. The Jefferson signing alone is reported to be a 2 year deal worth $13.5 MM. I have no idea how that breaks down into the cap, but I think it's probably safe to say that will bring the cap number down to at least $29MM.
We need to have some money in the till to sign our draft picks. Last year people threw around the number $8 MM to get that done. This year we have no 1st rounder so maybe we can cut that number in half and say $4 mm for draft picks and that brings us down to $25 MM.
Most GMs like to carry about $8-10 MM into the regular season to deal with injuries and other opportunities that arise. Not sure how much Beane likes to keep in his back pocket. We also have several players that we all anticipated that the team would tender new contracts to this off season like Dawkins and Milano that have not been resigned yet. I'm sure Beane would also like to carry some of this year's cap forward into next year (he carried $22 MM over in cap space from last year).
Put it all together and it looks like we are sitting at $25MM right now and still some of our own young players to sign, we need an emergency fund for the season, and will probably want to carry some cap forward into next year. It looks to me that we are likely done in free agency this year. Any big signings would require that we dump some significant contracts to make space.
I think Beane followed his successful free agency strategy from last year. Expend some capital and grab one big name free agent at our position of greatest need, Morse/Diggs, and then shop for mid range free agents who provide a good possibility of an upgrade at their positions.
Thanks for the thoughtful breakdown -- more than we usually get from mainstream reporting.

Doug Marrone is staying in Jacksonville according to CBS Sports.
Jaguars website confirms that Marrone will stay for at least one more year.

Great article, but already posted below.

Even more shocking are the ears of the guy on the left .

Duke Williams. Very close in height and weight, fast and elusive. Plus, he isn't doing anything else right now.

Sports Illustrated MMQB features an article about "Takeaways From the NFL on Thanksgiving." Josh Allen and the Bills are each referenced once in the subhead, but the body of the article makes no mention of any Bills player, and the only reference to the team is one use of the words "the Bills" is in a link to the game stats.

Josh is more Jekyll. His true identity is an enormously-talented, hard-working young quarterback and team leader. He definitely has his Hyde moments, but they are the aberration. In fact, he's much better than Jekyll. Jekyll drank his potion with the specific intention of getting his Hyde on. Josh is working very hard to tame is Hyde.

How is that hilarious? Kid was most likely drunk and made a bad decision trying to impress people. What if that was a family member of yours? He may have broken his neck.
I young man making a foolish decision at the urging of a crowd, and another crowd here mostly crowing about what may be a very serious injury. Both very disturbing and sad.

Our old helmet was too passive. Our current helmet is leading with its head. Maybe an upright buffalo in pass protection mode?

It has to be the best Josh holds the ball for 45 minutes every pass.
True, but you also have to consider what the O-line is facing. The Patriots understood Josh Allen's weakness and tendencies, and so they brought some heavy blitzing. A quarterback proficient at making quick reads would have been able to exploit this.

Yes, they still suck until they prove otherwise with wins. We all know and understand this, right?
Agreed, but they have one of the best defenses in the league. Hard to square that with the fourth worst roster in the NFL.

This is the process. Keep working, even a the margins, looking for ways to improve. Doing something versus doing nothing.

This one's on the coaching staff. Yes, Allen's a rookie, but they should have been working on the triple scramble, 40-yard, cross-body, cross field throw a bit more.

I'm pretty sure that won't work. I lived in Europe, and my game pass account was different from the one I use in the U.S. Also, game pass would recognize if I signed onto my Europe account while in the U.S., and would deny access to live streaming. I'm pretty sure game pass will see it's a U.S. account, and will provide the access granted in the U.S. or deny access all together. On a side note, I found that if I used a VPN and routed my Internet through a European country, I could watch live games on my Europe account while in the U.S. I was surprised the NFL hadn't closed that loophole.

38% more yards on offense. 78% less points scored. Yes, there are plenty of reasons, but I agree it's striking.

I think rain tends to even out the offenses, so it helps us.
Beyond that know our team can create turnovers, starting with our QB . . . .

As great of a player Mack is, I just see no logical reason to spend 20 million dollars a year and also giving up a first round pick for him. Greatness at the NFL linebacker position just isn’t as relevant for success as it may have been years ago. NFL QBs today are much more elusive, they get rid of the ball quicker and they are playing in modern passing schemes that get the ball out of their hands much faster.
Another reason I wouldn’t like it is that it has the possibility of breeding an atmosphere of jealousy within the locker room. The linebacker is a lunch pail position and I could see fellow defensive players wondering why Mack is making 5 times the yearly salary in which player(s) might feel they’re just as vital for the defenses success.
I doubt his fellow defensive players would question the value an supremely-talented linebacker can bring. (I'm thinking: Luke Kuechly, Von Miller, Ray Lewis, Junior Seau, Cornelius Bennett, LT, among many others).

Who? O. - J. - Simpson!! (In a Howard Cosell voice.)
Why? 2003, MVP, and the way he moved. (Plus, it was about 25 years before his trial.)

His words: "I’m here to get better, I’m here to be the best teammate, the best quarterback that I can be. That’s what I’m trying to do.”
Sounds to me like he doesn't feel pressure because his goal is to be the best he can be every step of the way rather than trying to make things happen by a certain point in the future when he thinks he should be ready to take the reigns. Kind of a level-headed internalization of "the process." Seems wise to me; hope he can stick with it as things heat up.
Have you ever been to a Bills home game in Buffalo?

Does Buffalo include Orchard Park? Either way, yes.
