  1. I just renewed my subscription.  The initial sign-up page has a heading reading: "Get a Limited Time Offer for the Rest of this Offseason."  It also has fine print at the bottom of the page that says:  "Limited time offer pricing is for the rest of this offseason only"  This could mean that you are paying for a subscription for offseason content only, and that appears to be the case.  After signing up for the $9.99 subscription, I looked at the "manage my subscription" feature, and it says my annual $79.99 subscription "Renews automatically on 8/1/2023"

Age of consent in NYS is 17.  Is she still considered a child when she is at or above 17?

Yes, for purposes of this law.  See the text below.  However, I find it odd that New York forbids you from buying cigarettes or drinking until you are 21, but sets the age of consent for sexual relations at 17 . . . .

"THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (f) of subdivision 3 of section 30.10 of the criminal procedure law, as separately amended by chapters 3 and 320 of the laws of 2006, is amended to read as follows: (f) For purposes of a prosecution involving a sexual offense as defined in article one hundred thirty of the penal law, other than a sexual offense delineated in paragraph (a) of subdivision two of this section, committed against a child less than eighteen years of age, ***** in the first, second or third degree as defined in sections 255.27, 255.26 and 255.25 of the penal law committed against a child less than eighteen years of age, or use of a child in a sexual performance as defined in section 263.05 of the penal law, the period of limitation shall not begin to run until the child has reached the age of [eighteen] TWENTY-THREE or the offense is reported to a law enforcement agency or statewide central register of child abuse and maltreatment, whichever occurs earlier."

New state law extends the statute of limitations for rape in New York

She may be 10 years too late.

I thought she had to be well outside the statute of limitations as well.  However, see the last paragraph of the article:

"And in February, Cuomo signed into law the Child Victims Act, which allows survivors of child sexual assault to pursue criminal felony charges until they turn 28, and file a civil lawsuit before age 55."

She was 17 -- and therefore legally a child -- at the time of the alleged assault.   Thirty years later she is well within the statute of limitations under this law.  billsfan1959 posted the complaint filed on her behalf, and it cites the Child Victim's Act.

Another hit piece propaganda from a divisive far left website. Absolute BS.

    Anti American.

Definitely bad journalism.  And as is you note, it hits at the very heart of what it means to be American.

I believe it was George Washington who said:  "Question not the lobbyists, nor those who do PR.  And if ever football shall become a thing, let each man pay his share.  Never shall the rich be made to compensate for that from which they profit."

    This isn't hard.

What is your vaccinated self's justification after almost 2 years (of course it's longer because well it was from....not nature) do you have for wanting everyone to get vaccinated even if they don't want it at this point?

I don't think anyone's calling for universal vaccination.  It's more that if you sign a contract under which your employer has to pay you $30 million, you should honor that contract.

Are you calling me the powers that be?

I think you're confusing average white people with the people that actually run this world

there are tons of white people in poverty with no wealth and no status who are struggling

The average white person does not hate black people, does not put them down, and does not keep them from moving forward

The average white person is fighting the same powers that be. We aren't making the laws

For some reason my phone spells it with the h instead of a c h and autocorrects it

But I'm pretty sure both are correct

I didn't want to personalize it, so I chose to make my point from a broader perspective.  I think the broader perspective is important because, whether or not we advocated for it, it reflects the country we live in.  I also think we should take that reality into account when evaluating the NFL's efforts to acknowledge the profound problems with the way black Americans have been treated in our democracy.  Seen from that perspective, I don't think playing the Black National Anthem once is much of a burden.

    There is only one race

    The human race

And division is why we will never get anywhere. That's a fact

Separating things into races and ethnicities is the absolute worst thing that can happen in this world

But I'm educated and I can see through all this division BS. I don't care if you're yellow brown black white or an orangutan

We are ALL part of the human race

The Powers that Be over the past 200+ years:  Black people count as three fifths of a person; enslaving black people is perfectly legal; okay slavery is not legal but black people can't live in white neighborhoods; separate but equal; black people can't vote; okay black people can vote but good luck getting to a polling place; black people can't marry white people; black children can't go to school with white children; okay black children can go to school with white children, but we're going to make it very hard to live in white school districts; what's with these black people, why do they live in these horrible neighborhoods; we need stricter policing; etc., etc., etc.

Black America:   Black Lives Matter; Give Us True Equality!

Provide a link to this “black national anthem”, what this “black nation” is, how does one get citizenship for it, and a pathway for other “races” to have one as well and I’m all aboard.

Follow the link in the initial post to hear the black national anthem.  The black nation (which is a figurative expression) is our fellow citizens of color.

So, should there be a white NA played before hockey and baseball games since whites are dominant In those sports?

That might have been appropriate if whites had been enslaved for centuries, and then disenfranchised, lynched, subjected to Jim Crow, subjected to segregation, ghettoized, and discriminated against systematically for the next 150+ years.  It could also be argued that the National Anthem in a sense is kind of a white anthem, since it was written to celebrate a country ruled by whites at a time when slavery was completely legal.

I see alot of comments very upset and saying they're done with the NFL. Is this further dividing things?

I personally don't have a big issue with it but I don't like politics in my sports.

    Thoughts?

It seems completely appropriate to me.  People across the country are collectively recognizing the centuries-old problem of racial inequity and taking actions to address it. Seventy percent of NFL players are black.  Playing the black national anthem before the first game of this NFL season is a fitting way to acknowledge the problem.  And advocating for greater equality is completely patriotic.

Honestly, my problem with it was they are on the job. I don’t care what they do off the job, within reason of course. If the NFL doesn’t care, I don’t care. The NFL seems to have changed their tune on being “pro-player”. I don’t love it, but I can’t hate it. Change needs to come.

Riot or loot, you belong in jail. Peaceful protest to your heart’s delight.

If you see it as an issue between the employer and the employees, then you should have no problem.  Here's what the Pegulas had to say when Bills players kneeled:

"Our players have the freedom to express themselves in a respectful and thoughtful manner and we all agreed that our sole message is to provide and to promote an environment that is focused on love and equality."
