A New Age Foreign Policy
drnykterstein replied to finknottle's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So Ahmadinejad criticizes Obama and you side with Ahmadinejad? I don't know the details of this situation, but you using Ahmadinejad's words to defend your position makes me wonder. -
Perhaps we have different definitions of the term "liberal"? Either way, I assert that the ACLU has no loyalty to the Democratic Party or it's goals.
-
If the ACLU is so liberal, then why are they suing Obama?
-
This was not an interesting topic. It's was not a good topic. Basically I pissed on a turd sandwich (and apparently you were thinking of eating that turd sandwich)
-
Says the guy with the out of context quote in his sig.
-
bluesky is doing a parody of me doing a parody of this guy
-
.. blah blah blah. I know the pattern by now. My position is flawless, and since no one can respond with substantial counter points, the insults and grammar nit-picking ensue.
-
What a lazy posting this is. Or is coming up with half-assed insults really that difficult for you? Did you buy yourself a beer in celebration of clicking reply?
-
You really have something wrong with your brain. This paragraph does not have any logical structure to it. I'm tempted to say that your paragraph is not even written in the English language. Almost by definition the ACLU does spend most of it's time protecting minority groups from the oppression of the majority. Are you saying that the 76% of Americans that are Christian is a minority? Anyways, I have to conclude that you have no idea what the ACLU does or offers for the American people. You have not demonstrated that you understand what the ACLU is about. It's kind of weird to see you type opinions on an organization that you are demonstrably uninformed about. I mean explain the details of the drone lawsuit, why is the ACLU position wrong?
-
Did or did not that link address OC's concerns with precision?
-
Overusing them probably would create indifference. To find out how people of *my* line of thinking feel about this - see this video: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-augu...rd-is-maxed-out The lawsuit is not a Democratic political goal, and does not line up with Democratic political goals. The ACLU is not a liberal organization. They are their own organization with their own goals (namely: American civil liberties). I'm sure many many democrats (including Obama) are not happy about this lawsuit. So the problems with your statements are you assume things that just are not true. You wrongly assume liberals are not aware the race card is overused sometimes, and you wrongly assume the ACLU is a Dem organization. Stop wrongly assuming things.

Maybe it does toughen the team? The players who are injury prone get injured now instead of during the middle of the season.
-
That is !@#$ing hilarious. Yeah we know you put the work in, thousands and thousands of hours of listening to Rush Limbaugh and letting him brainwash you.

Assuming these folks take the standard exemptions, that does not make their tax rate effectively zero. ... I'm sure there are many on this board who make under 50k who can testify to that.
-
Under $9000 you pay 10% in taxes, under $35k its 15%, under 83k it's 20%. I'd disagree that qualifies as an "effective tax rate of zero", and I highly doubt any of those folks take much more than the standard exemptions. As little as two years ago I was making 30k. I know exactly how much in taxes I paid, it was nothing close to zero. Lower tax rates on salaries under 50k will allow employers to put more actual cash in the the actual pockets of their employees.

Trent Edwards' confidence
drnykterstein replied to The Helmet of's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trent's problem isn't and hasn't ever been that he's a bad QB. His problem is that by week five he'll be out with some injury, and then return in week 8, at which point he won't be even half the QB we saw to start the season. -
To me that is not really the issue. The issue to me is that the wealthy should pay more taxes and those making under 50k/year should pay less in taxes. We should go back to the tax rates we had in 1950. And to the inevitable moron who will ask "why", see two posts above this one. I do think the middle class is eroding, and the wealthy are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.
-
Doesn't everyone on this forum own their own company? I assume we all do. "You just seem SO sure that people need to pony up to take care of others" this is true. And to me, the wealthy and super wealthy owe a bit more to society and should pony up a bit more. Additional to that, Buffet probably makes $1 off of every dollar he invests, if I were able to do the same... his profits from a 50 million dollar investment are going to be substantially higher than my profits from a $5000 investment that I could afford. This is how the market works, the more money you have, the more money you make. Given that fact, I have no problem taxing the people with more money at higher tax rates. Gate/Buffet are set for life. They are not idiots to try to help others at this point in their lives.

It's hit me. You know what this thread is? This is what this thread is, pure and simple.
-
Lol. I'll gladly be the first to write a check if there was a way to guarantee everyone else would. But yeah, I'm not willing to be the only idiot giving my money away and then the rest of the you invest that money in your businesses you own, and get a leg up on me in the rat race.
-
Congrats on contributing substance. That was an interesting read. And contrary to anything you have ever posted on this forum, that was fact based. Nice job.
-
This is also true. This is the crazy stuff that Geitner has to deal with on offshore tax havens for multinationals and such. Then again, if we really cared about that issue as a country, then why the hell are our tariff rates so stupidly low?
-
It's true. However if you and every other poster on this board agreed to donate X percent of your wealth to charity, I am excited and elated and super happy to donate the same percent of what I own.
-
What part of the term "competitive disadvantage" do you not understand. Is Buffet not a businessman?
-
Stop being so stupid. You are demanding that rich liberals give all their money to the government. Come on man, come back to reality.
