A person is put in a cement room without windows. The door is mechanically bolted shut and under strict watch so that nobody can come in or out. It is secured in every possible way. 24 hours later, the door is opened, and there are now 2 people inside the room. How is this possible?

It was a pregnant woman and she gave birth inside the cement room.

Mary was drowning and Bob failed to see her frantic waves. Bob is better suited for a job that doesn't require such acute attention to detail.

A roof with a 90 degree angle is a wall.

    And roosters don't lay eggs.

An unarmed, heavyset, blond man is lying in a large room with no windows amongst a pile of 53 bicycles, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

    What led to his death?

The bicycles are Bicycle brand playing cards. The man was caught palming a 5th ace.

Bob is at work one day when Mary, a girl he had once went to school with, waves at him. Bob is lost in his thoughts and doesn’t notice her. Later that day, Bob is called into the office of his boss and fired.

    Why was Bob fired?

  4. I voted for "My Eyes Adored You,” by the Four Seasons. Just so, as another playoff season ends short of the Super Bowl, we can all sing, "So close, so close and yet so far."

Does unspent cap accrue to following years?  I think GMKA is planning to go berserk when McDavid is a free agent in 2033.

Not to my knowledge. I just hope he doesn't get in front of the cameras and say, "Well, we wanted to make trades and sign FAs, but it takes two to tango." It's time to get a GM that can make things happen.

  6. Vince Gill wrote this one for his brother after his passing. Any version of it is beautiful and heart-breaking, but when he broke down trying to sing it with Patty Loveless at the funeral of George Jones, it rose to another level of melancholy and loss.

As a blues enthusiast I've certainly had a number of sad songs in my favorites mix.

But this song I'm posting...ugh.  Its not blues, its not really country either, but it has personal sentiments to me.

If you want the backstory, fine, here it is.

I've mentioned on here before, I lost my soulmate to cancer 5 1/2 years ago.  Before she died, she wanted a celebration of life instead of a funeral.

One day, she gave me a list of about 5 or 6 songs to put on a mix to play at the COL.  This song was on the list.

I knew the singer, but had never heard of the song.  Joey Feek died of cancer a few years after recording this song.

I looked at the title and said to my wife, "you must really hate me, you don't think I'll be grieving enough without hearing that song?"

She said, "fine", crossed it off the list and added another.

And yes, I put in in the mix.  When it played at her COL, the person I was talking to at the time, I asked that it person to talk a little louder so I didn't hear it.

It took me a year to  be able to listen to it in its entirety.  5 + years later, I still can't hear it without shedding a tear or two.

    So yeah, there it is.

That is a heartbreaking song. I’m so sorry that you lost your wife to such a cruel disease. But it sounds as if you had a great life and deep love for one another, and I’m thankful for you that you experienced that in your life. Hope you are doing well these days, my friend.
