No team can sign a player with an expiring contract from another team before 4 pm today. They can only agree to terms.

The bad teams have to overpay. That used to be the BIlls.

True, the Detroit News ran a story out here today that the non-playoff teams have to do a lot of high-risk/cost deals. Last year, the top 5 spenders were Denver, New Orleans, Atlanta, Chicago and Las Vegas. None even sniffed the playoffs. Carolina will be the 2024 leader of the pack.

One of the travel issues may be traced back to BIA. The runway is not rated for larger commercial aircraft from both length and aircraft weight requirements. This limits the team to smaller, less comfortable jets for travel. From experience traveling more than 100,000 miles per year, I’d much rather sit in a 757/767 than a 737 (even if the doors stay on) and I’m only 5’9”.

Smaller jets? They normally fly a Delta Airbus 350. Over 300 seats and many of those are Delta One and Premium Select. I think they want the Bills to copy NE and buy their own 767 and equipment it with only first class seats. That 4 1/2 hour jaunt to California is brutal.

Baker is a Geno Smith type talent in the league.  He can bring you into the playoffs if your team is strong, but he wont put you over the top.  For a team who has been average for a while (Raiders/Bucs/Saints) it makes sense to bring him in.

For a bottom dweller, draft a QB.  For a good team, you dont need to look his way.

Bring you to the playoffs, but not put you over the top. That sounds like a Head Coach that we all know and love.

Just remember we live in a time where what's true is getting harder to know, and that's by design. No area is exempt.

You are correct. It finally dawned on me this site and all of us don't really exist. It is run by an NFL AI bot using Chat Gpt.

Tried to tell several of you that Dawkins was trash and got flamed for it. Brown shouldn't be a starter either he has regressed mightily. Its a real problem.

Dawkins, he should change his nickname to the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man - fat, slow and soft.

I’m actually pretty excited about this pick.  He’s got awesome long term potential, but should be an absolute nightmare to cover if used as basically a big slot guy.  Major concerns are his lack of experience and the fact he needed injuries to break the Utah line up.  Those are some big red flags to me.  That said, the guy has all the tools and a nice set of hands.  Worst case, he should be a 40-60 catch guy, best case he develops to a Kelce type that’s just impossible to deal with.  The fact Knox is also a well above average all around TE, if schemed up properly, this could be real good.

Our arch enemy TB12 needed an injury to break into NE's lineup. Unfortunately for the rest of the NFL, it worked pretty well for him and the Pats, I believe.

  7. Here in Detroit the local sports talk station "97.1 - The Ticket" is owned by the same company that owns WGR. The on-air personalities are worlds better than at WGR. But. in fairness to WGR, here we have the Lions. Wings, Tigers and Pistons to digest in addition to UM and MSU. College fb and bb are big here. Tough to fill time with just Bills and Sabres talk.

Has the ax fallen or is just getting sharpened?  Is Detroit the only team with a major problem or will we see more issues from now to trainign camp?

The axe has to be just getting sharpened. It's hard to believe out of a population of 1,600+ plus players that only 5 were involved. But, then again, not sure the NFL wants this to get fully exposed for the reasons noted elsewhere in this thread.
