  1. I really hope people realize if Allen starts week 1 he is starting for the next 15 games (if healthy) no matter how terrible he starts to play.

Because you don't bench your rookie QB and destroy his confidence in a season where nothing matters. We have no pressure to succeed this year, the drought is over and we can finally rebuild.

  2. I think a lot of fans need a reality check when it comes to the defense. People saying we will have a top 10 or even top 5 ranked defense? What exactly are they basing this off of?

Our pass rush ranks near dead last in the NFL, and we haven't improved that much over the season. We arguably have one of the worst LB's cores in the NFL. Edmunds will go through a lot of growing pains, and the rest of the LB's wouldn't even start on other top teams in the league. This will hurt our run defense, I can see many teams having huge games on the ground this season due to our LB weakness. People think Star Lotuleli is going to come in and fix our run defense but the guy has been ranked one of the worst DT's against the run in the past few years.

Our secondary over achieved last season, and we still ended up ranked middle of the pack. Outside of Hyde and Tre White the depth there is worrying. We are 1 Vonte Davis injury away from being in trouble.

We need to hit the brakes on the defense expectations. It's a rebuilding year and the defense is no exception. Most important thing this year is development of our rookies.

The Bills are making the starting QB decision based on what the line looks likeas it's been discussed in many other threads. It's not happening and it shouldn't.

Beane did address the line in UFA with the signings of Bodine and Newhouse. Additionally he drafted Teller.

Allen will start or not based on his own development path and performance on the field.

Bodene and Newhouse? LMAO the league is laughing at us with those signings.  Journeymen Oline players aren't fixing anything

we need to invest in the line.

Just start him. He might get hurt this season but what are the odds he will get a career ending injury? I refuse to watch Nathan Peterman

piss off with that that mentality

Thats how you destroy a rookies development. God some Bills fans are absolutely delusional. Go support another team if all you care about is winning right now. We are rebuilding.

  5. Don't care how good Josh Allen looked yesterday, don't care how well he plays in the next 2 games. No team in there right mind should risk their future franchise QB behind that mess we have put together as an offensive line

2-3 of those players wouldn't even be in the NFL had it not been for the Bills for some reason still sticking with them. Beane has failed to address the Oline for the 2nd offseason in a row and its showing in preseason (and training camp).

Look, we aren't going to win many games this season, lets stop being delusional. This is a rebuild year. It isn't worth risking the future of your team just to win a few games. Let Peterman start and go from there.

    Pretty good night for Rosen.

Seven thoughts from Friday’s preseason action

    4. Adversity is a serious word that gets thrown around far too much in sports. What we should say is on-field adversity, and rookie Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen overcame plenty of on-field adversity in his first series. He had his second pass of the game tipped at the line and he smartly batted the ball down. The next play, he took a deep drop, stepped up in the pocket and delivered a 14-yard pass on an in route to Chad Williams. Once a defensive pass interference call got the Cardinals inside the 10, left tackle D.J. Humphries jumped offside, Rosen then got away with an intentional grounding on the next play and then he got flagged for a delay of game. Finally, on third-and-goal from the 13, the Saints rushed four and dropped seven into coverage and Rosen hit rookie Christian Kirk at the goal line for the touchdown.

(As an aside: we all saw Rosen’s pre-draft video with Aaron Rodgers and heard how alike they are. I noticed two on-field mannerisms they share, as well. The way Rosen motioned to the referee that his arm was going forward on a fumble [that was really an incomplete pass] and how he dismissively spiked the ball on the delay of game looked just like No. 12 in Green Bay.)

Rosen is by far looking like the best rookie (of pre-season). He makes pre snap reads, smart with the football, super accurate. biggest difference is Allen can extend plays better and is a threat on the run.

What I mean is when I watch Darnold I see a guy who dinks and dunks down the field.  Rosen, and I didn't watch tonight, looked like the guy I saw in college, slow in the pocket, game manager.

Neither seems to have the tools Allen does.  Allen looks special.  Now, it's two games into the preseason so who knows.  Just happier than I thought I'd be with Allen.

Darnold and Rosen also both can hit the short passes Allen has trouble with so it evens out at the end. all of them have their flaws

  8. Still think Peterman starts. Mcd and Beane have said multiple times they aren't entertaining the idea of starting a rookie QB just for the hell of it.

Only reason Peterman was #3 today was to asses the other 2 QB's, he is still ahead of Allen in terms of learning the playbook. And I do not want to see another Bills rookie QB lose his confidence by the 3rd or 4th game of his career.

If you haven't noticed our starting oline is abysmal and was eaten alive by the Browns starting Defense

I was on record as not wanting Allen.

After watching the rookie Qbs  so far no clue how he was still there at #7. I am glad he was.  Hopefully I can say that 10 years from now.

For what it's worth the TD throw made me laugh out loud.  Just incredible.

What do you mean by this? The other top picked rookies have played just as good tbh

Rosen has looked very solid with the Cards and Darnold is picking up the playbook faster than any of them. I think its been fairly even tbh

  10. Allen aside, who looked great, can we talk about our defense? Second game in a row they looked shaky.

Secondary depth is very worrying, if Vonte goes down we are so screwed. Also I still can't believe we let Darius go but gave all that money to a journeyman DT. If we were going to dish out big contracts why not bring in a NFL quality Linebacker. We arguably have the worst LB's in the NFL right now.

  11. so annoying when I hear announcers say "Tyrod led the Bills to end their playoff drought"

no he didn't. he certianly had a part to play in it, but the defense, Shady, and Andy Dalton had far more to do with us getting into the playoffs

If Mccoy doesn't win us that game vs the colts there isn't even talk about playoffs
