Special teams is improved already?
-
He's taken a beating over the years. It's time to hang up the cleats.
-
With a team friendly contract, sure. Why not bring him back?
-
Follow the Colts example and upgrade the O line around Allen, then add another reliable receiver and of course immediately replace Clay. If Allen can take the next step in his development without the sophomore jinx, we have a chance to return to the playoffs
-
Won't be long. McD is sticking to his process
-
If the best O-Lineman in the draft falls down to them at #9, pull the trigger and make the pick.

It's about time. Special teams is improved already as long as they don't bring back Ronnie Jones ?
-
Saunders and McCardell are at the top of the list. Between the two, I like McCardell the most because he was once a player. That'll give him instant credibility in the receiver room.

Maybe they slide Culley to WR coach and bring in Palmer to work with Allen.
That might make too much sense.

Still waiting for the axe to fall on Crossman

One down, one to go (Crossman)

I think you need to watch again. He’s not
implying that it was race related. Just that he wishes there would be more minority represention at HC. I get what he’s saying
I get it too.

McDermott cares about running a meticulous, professional organization. For him, it seems its more important to take the time to do a thorough review and then make important decisions. I could be wrong, but it seems that has always been his M.O. For example, I recall it taking a few days for Dennison to be fired last year.
I just hope it don't take him as long to can Crossman & Castillo as it did for them to realize Nate Pickoffman had to go

The coaches who’ve been fired so far, or certainly will be tomorrow—Bowles, Koetter, and Joseph—all should have been fired last year, but were kept around in the interest of continuity. As a result, those franchises wasted a year finding out what was already obvious to any sentient observer—that those guys were not good coaches. Put the Browns in this category, too. If they had fired Hue Jackson at the end of last season, as he so richly deserved, they probably would be preparing for a playoff game right now.
It seems clear that McDermott is going to survive Black Monday, but should he? By giving him another season, are we wasting a year of Josh Allen’s cheap rookie contract? Are we stunting his development by making him play for a coach who turtles any time he finds himself with a 14-point lead?
Keeping McD for another year is the correct decision. As much as they don't want to admit it, they're rebuilding. The team overall is heading in the right direction. Just have to upgrade the offensive line, add a #1 caliber receiver, and fortify the defensive line.
I think they can handle that in year 3

I disagree with your assertions.
I disagree too. I think he was more underrated

Teams like the Pats, Rams, Seahawks, and others just have a group of receivers as opposed to a true #1. We don't really need that one superstar WR as long as the group can be productive by getting open and catching the dayum ball

Father Time remains undefeated. Good Luck Kyle, and Thanks for the memories. Looking forward to seeing your name on the wall soon.

McDermott is in an interesting position at this point. Hanging onto a Whaley hold over in Zay Jones has not helped anyone. Over paying on Star and Murphy instead of putting it into offensive linemen knowing Richie, Wood, and Glenn were gone. Along with finding a starter in the mixture or reliable tightend puts it offensively in a mess. Allen is not inaccurate and honestly Daboll catches to much flack he’s found weak spots in defenses and Zay is proving why Doug Whaley is a castoff now working for the XFL.
Ummmmmmm Zay was drafted by the current regime ?

Who do they have on offense that's worth more than a 4th rounder? At the most, an aging Shady might worth a 3rd rounder

He was interviewed last year for they Colts job and has HC experience ... not that crazy
That's true. His experience will eventually get him hired by somebody as a HC.
I'd really like to see Castillo and Crossman gone first though.

As the season has gone on and as speed has been introduced, I've gained conviction in Daboll's ability to build an offense around Allen's strengths. In a world where most teams are looking for QB whisperers, do we need to worry about Daboll being a HC candidate this off-season? There will likely be a number of vacancies and I'm hopeful that a long list of attractive HC candidates can be built so that we can have Daboll for at least another year. I would just hate to lose momentum by forcing Allen to learn a new offense.
Unlikely this season. Maybe after next season if we're back in the playoffs

I know this is just a rambling, but I want to get it out. For the first time in probably the past 20 years, I actually have real optimism that our team will be a legitimate playoff contender next year. I know I have had my doubts, but Allen’s performance over the past 3-4 weeks has really shown a glimpse of what’s to come. We actually have a real quarterback (first one since Flutie). In addition, the receiving corp actually has 2 legit players in Foster and McKenzie. Both are weapons, with flaws, but could be big time players when mixed with Allen’s arm and some creative play calling.
For this offseason, our goal should be to keep the defense intact, bolster the offensive line and draft a top WR or TE. We might be able to eek one more season out of Shady and with the emergence of Murphy, should be good in the backfield until we draft a RB in 2020. Also, we need to dump Crossman as special teams has really been special this year.
At the end of the day, with a good draft and 1-2 solid free agent pickups, I truly think we could have 10-11 wins next year. The core is finally here for us to be good for a long time. I really think it’s legit this time.
Agreed. Just add one more step to this, put Juan Castillo next to Crossman on the chopping block
