  1. Like it. The Texas trade down makes sense. If they stay where they are, the Texans don't have a choice; they get the leftovers from the Top 3-4 OT's, and OT is a high priority with them.

Agree that we'd want a different DE in RD 6-7. How about Rudolph Hardie or Chase Ortiz?

Hardie is from Howard, 270 pounds, runs a 4.7 and his bench presses were obscene. Had 25 tackles for loss.

Chase Ortiz is from TCU, is leaner and quicker than most DE's is a hustler with strong character up the waz.

This is just what I don't want to see on draft day:

Rivers to New England @ 7 would really suck.

The caveat every mock mentions first in regard to No. 7 New England is the potential for the Patriots to trade down out of this slot, and that scenario remains a strong possibility. But if the Patriots do stick, Rivers is a rising prospect to keep an eye on. New England asks its linebackers to be able to handle both inside and outside roles in the 3-4, and the Pats feel Rivers can do that. The fly in this ointment is that New England has never drafted a linebacker on the first day in the Bill Belichick era, and if that form holds, look for the Patriots to take the best available defensive lineman (USC tackle Sedrick Ellis) or offensive lineman (Clady or Virginia guard Branden Albert).

  2. I have to think location was a factor, too. Trent grew up in Los Gatos, CA. The Stanford campus is less than 20 miles from there. So he gets the opportunity to go to one of the top academic schools in the world, become the starting quarterback for an above-average D1 program (granted, they sucked last year, but they have had their share of greatness over the years; John Elway, anyone?), and stay close to his family (we know from Chris Brown's reports that he's extremely close with his family, especially his sister).

Maybe it's just that I've lived in the SF Bay Area for almost 20 years and have been brainwashed about how excellent Stanford is, but I can't fault Trent one bit for his choice. Certainly didn't seem to hurt his chances of playing in the NFL!

Your post just about sums it up. I'd also like to add:

    Standford (LOI)

Tennessee - Inbreds sipping moonshine before the game sucks.

UCLA - Everything about SoCal sucks.

    Washington - The weather sucks.

California - Hippies and whackjobs suck.

Florida - Humidity and bugs suck.

Michigan - Weather and ice fishing suck.

  3. Um, and your point is? I made one post about the bills NOT needing a LB month ago, and I'm a hypocrite? I stand by my mongoloid comment, even if it does include you. :D

Why have such a strong position about an event you now claim to not even care about? Such a strong position that you resort to name calling and

other posters. I don't get it. Seems like a total waste of energy to me. Were you just trying to be an ass? Are you just trying to be an ass with this thread? Do you try to be an ass in every thread?

For the record, I still love the mongoloid blast...

  4. I don't care about the draft. I admit it. I think mock drafts are stupid. They don't know crap about who has talent and who doesn't. the only way to get that knowledge is to spend your life watching film, and understand what you are looking at on that film. Most people don't. Basically all mock drafts are based on people who repeat what they've heard others say about a player, listen to rumors about what team will take what where, and actually pretend that they understand a team's needs.

Same goes for fans. Fans don't know jack about evaluating college players, including myself. The only good judge of a draft or a player is how it translates 3 years down the road once the NFL filters out the phonies.

    Wake me when minicamp starts.

So why are fans who think the Bills will take a LB in the 1st round a bunch of 'Mongoloids' (your word, not mine)?

    Hypocrite.

  5. Ive always wanted to get them myself...not sure what they cost tho..besides i dont have any friends that are billsfans...id have to go alone...my brother and dad are bills fans but theyd never go with me because they dont have the time..this is something I think should be shared with family or friends and id just be going alone...now im feeling sad <_<

Is there a singles section?..maybe us single guys can pick up some single gals that are fans!..lol

Dude - Here's what yo do...

Pick up single game tix, and check out the games from different seats with different folks all season long. As for the tailgate - pack a sub, some munchies and some beer and make your way on over to Pinto Ron's. I've never been to Buffalo home game (yet) but trust me, you'll have a good time.

  6. Here's something Modrak said:

"For example, the kid at Clemson, Phillip Merling (defensive end) has had hernia surgery and I don't know when he's going to be able to run," said Modrak. "We're going to go with what we saw on tape if he can't run or test before the draft. You'd love to have all the T's crossed and I's dotted because it gives you a clearer picture, but Willis McGahee is a great example. He didn't do any real testing before the draft and we knew we'd have to sit him for a year and he went to Hawaii this year. So it's not catastrophic if a guy can't test." Source

Thanks for that quote as I had no clue it existed. Also - I admire your manlove for Kelly.

  7. Agreed. Keep him outta the AFC East.

He's gonna be good. With those measurables and having played at an elite program at Ohio State it'll be surprising if he doesn't become a 10 sack/year guy rushing from the OLB spot in a 3-4. Teams are thinking he's the next Shawne Merriman or Terrell Suggs.

Yes, that is one school of though at play. The other is that if he turns out to be a flop, there is no other roster I would love to see him eat up cap space on than that of the Oakland Raiders. Their fans get so pumped up every year about guys like George, Moss, Gallery, Doss, SeaBass, Jordan, et al, and a every year it's the same old let down for these fools. It's so annoying out here...

  8. It's not rocket science, man. There are plenty of games to drive ratings and feed hype all season long. Besides, the networks have the ability to shift things around at the end of the season regardless. This should be a no-brainer.

This is what you got for Prime Time matchups last season during week 15:

    Thursday Night - Denver/ Houston

    Saturday Night - Cinci/ SF

Sunday Night - Washington/ NY Giants

    Monday Night - Chicago/ Minnesota

Other than the Skins/ Giants game which I believe was flexed, you were fed a bunch of Primetime crap, and you watched it because it was football and it was on the idiot box that night.

Other notable (flex worthy) games that week were:

Dallas/ Philly - Rivalry week, right?

Buffalo/ Cleveland - Wild card implications in a blizzard.

Jacksonville/ Pittsburgh - Two playoff caliber teams.

Spygate Part Two - NE still undefeated and the Mangini/ Bellichik soap opera.

  9. Bills have ZERO playmakers at LB.

a DE that is just a pass rushing specialist is OK - but a LB that can rush the passer, play pass coverage and make tackles is an unneeded luxury?

Rivers would not be a backup LB on this defense - he would put Crowell on the bench where he belopngs as a quality backup to all 3 spots

Thank you for handling my light-work. Thanks...
