  1. New coaching regime means that we have to find the franchise cornerstone in the first 2 rounds. There is no way that Buffalo is going to wait till the 3rd round to get our signal caller. Round 1 we'll likely grab our future defensive captain, then either trade back up into the 22-32 pick or take a QB with our 2nd.
  2. We need to sign, or at least try to sign a top-talent free agent tomorrow! We already know that Miami has pretty much locked up Mike Wallace, New England is resigning Welker regardless of who offers him money, and the Jets are going to spend some cash on a runningback. My suggestion: Why not make an offer on Dashon Goldson? Imagine Byrd and Goldson, who can both play either safety role, on the field at once. They would cause a nightmare for Tom Brady, "The Great" Mark Sanchez (LMFAO), and opposing QB's league-wide. Instead of wasting a mid-round pick on a wideout that probably will never be more than a one-game-wonder, why not drop some cash on Danny Amendola? He is a Welker-like receiver who has no problems going over the middle to catch a pass, or re-route the defenders so SJ13 or Graham can go over top. I'd take Eric Winston as a right tackle option. We know that the Bills strength right now is the outside run game with CJ, so why not bulk up on a proven above-average right tackle? James Harrison is far over the hill, but he has that tenacity, the experience and winning attitude, and overall brutal lack of manners that would help give the Bills' defense a face. Who is scared of the Bills defense besides Doug Marrone? Exactly... Let's give the fans something to look forward to!
  3. Taking into consideration the fact that I did this mock over a month ago, some of the picks still stand true. I would still like to see Te'o in a Bills uniform next season, but only if we trade down to 13-20 for him. Teams in need of a run-stopping DT (Richardson) or looking for a playmaking burner WR (Patterson) might be worth trading up for the Bills' 8th pick. Te'o's draft value has diminished due to his off-field "girlfriend hoax", but he is still a proven leader. Whether or not he is "Pro Bowl caliber" does not matter. A leader can bring out the best of his compatriots. A young, well-spoken leader in Te'o could bolster the Bills defense in terms of bringing out the best in our other young talent (Sheppard, Gilmore, Dareus, etc). 2nd round QB's will be in abundance, but I wouldn't want to put all my marbles into hoping that "the one" falls to #41. If we grab an extra 2nd rounder in the 8th pick trade, package our #41 pick with a 3rd rounder to trade into the late 1st round. God knows that the Patriots aren't too keen on this year's draft, especially the 1st round. We can steal a gem like Matt Barkley (USC) or EJ Manuel (Florida State) in the late first. Let's make it clear that I wouldn't reach #8 overall for Glennon, and I DO NOT WANT TYLER WILSON, PERIOD! Fitzmagic seems to have fizzled out. With the other 2nd round pick, why not grab a playmaking WR to terrorize defenders opposite Stevie J? One of Terrence Williams (Baylor), Stedman Bailey (WVU) or Justin Hunter (Tennessee) will definitely hit the late 2nd round. You can't go wrong with any one of these studs. 3rd round is where things get interesting. Gone are the days of Buffalo Bills "taking blind shots in the dark" at late round picks. This year let's go for a big name in the 3rd round! Tyrann Mathieu will be a steal in the 3rd. If he's too "high risk", why not go for a proven hardworker like John Simon DE (Ohio State), or an Aaron Hernandez-esque TE like Jordan Reed (Florida)? The safest pick of the 3rd round could be Barrett Jones C/OG/OT (Alabama). The guy can not only play, but excel at every offensive line position. 4th round picks are few and far between. I don't think the Bills have ever had a 4th rounder play more than 30 games. Kiko Alonso MLB (Oregon) is a playmaking linebacker who will instantly start on any team not named the 49ers or Ravens. Alonso would have been a shoe-in for a 1st round pick had he not torn his ACL in 2010, or missed the Senior Bowl due to a wrist injury.
  4. I chose Teo'o in the first round not because he is the best talent, but because he is the best leader. He's not a tackler like Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis, but he is an equal to, or better playmaker than they are. For every big play Buffalo made on defense this year, we allowed 10 against us. Teo'o will limit that number and provide a solid option alongside Barnett (OLB) and Sheppard (OLB). Nassib likely won't be there in the second round, but I did not mock trades. If he is available around the Ravens, Packers, Patriots picks later in the draft, Doug Marrone will do everything he can to trade into those positions. Tyrann Mathieu will likely go in the 4th round, where the Bills can trade down into as there is no major necessity hanging around in the 3rd round.
  5. Hey guys, I'm new to Two Bills Drive, so here is my first ever post... a mock draft! I'm sure we all know where the Bills need help, but is it worth reaching on a QB in the first round? Here's my prediction of how things will pan out... FIRST ROUND 1. KC - Geno Smith - QB (West Virginia) 2. JAX - Jarvis Jones - DE/OLB (Georgia) 3. OAK - Star Lotulelei - DT (Utah) 4. PHI - Luke Joeckel - OT (Texas A&M) 5. DET - Demarcus Milliner - CB (Alabama) 6. CLE - Damontre Moore - DE/OLB (Texas A&M) 7. ARI - Bjoern Werner - DE/OLB (Florida State) 8. BUF - Manti Teo'o - MLB (Notre Dame) The Bills' defense was an absolute embarrassment in 2012. Ranking bottom 5 in nearly every category, its time to draft a new leader for the Bills Mafia. Teo'o brings unbelievable leadership, determination and a newly restored winning attitude to the locker room. Did I mention that he cleaned house with nearly every defensive award in Division 1 and was the runner-up to Johnny Football in the 2012 Heisman Trophy campaign? 4 year starter at ND with 110+ tackles in 3 straight years, with 7 INT's in 2012. The Bills need a defensive playmaker so why not take the best available defensive player in the draft? 9. NYJ - Barkevious Mingo - DE/OLB (Louisiana State) 10. TEN - Johnthan Banks - CB (Mississippi State) 11. SD - Johnathan Hankins - NT (Ohio State) 12. MIA - Eric Fisher - OT (Central Michigan) 13. TB - Dion Jordan - DE/OLB (Oregon) 14. CAR - Sheldon Richardson - DT (Missouri) 15. NO - Ezekiel Ansah - DE (Bringham Young) 16. STL - Chance Warmack - OG (Alabama) 17. PIT - Alec Ogletree - MLB (Georgia) 18. DAL - Johnathan Hankins - DT (Georgia) 19. NYG - Alex Okafor - DE/OLB (Texas) 20. CHI - Keenan Allen - WR (California) 21. CIN - Sam Montgomery - DE (Louisiana State) 22. STL - Kenny Vaccaro - S (Texas) 23. MIN - Cordarrelle Patterson - WR (Tennessee) 24. IND - Johnathan Cooper - G/C (North Carolina) 25. BAL - Matt Elam - S (Florida) 26. HOU - Tavon Austin - WR (West Virginia) 27. SF - Eric Reid - S (Louisiana State) 28. ATL - Sharrif Floyd - DT (Florida) 29. SEA - Terrence Williams - WR (Baylor) 30. DEN - Kevin Minter - MLB (Louisiana State) 31. GB - Tyler Eifert - TE (Notre Dame) 32. NE - Barrett Jones - T/G/C (Alabama) SECOND ROUND 41. BUF - Ryan Nassib - QB (Syracuse) I know what you're all thinking... "Ryan WHO?" Let me tell you about this kid. Playing for Doug Marrone at Syracuse, Nassib was the lone bright star on a squad full of average-at-most players. A 3 year starter at Syracuse, Nassib threw 60% to receivers who wouldn't make a CFL practice squad, while boasting 70 career TD's to only 28 INT's. Not bad for a guy playing in a run-first offense, or lack there of... NFL analysts have placed Nassib ahead of Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, and others as the most NFL-ready QB in the draft. Just 22 years young, the pocket-passing Nassib COULD BE the Bills key to a bright future. Perhaps flying under the radar could be the biggest advantage Nassib has to failed QB's of the past... Jamarcus Russell, what's up? THIRD ROUND 71. BUF - Tyrann Mathieu - CB (Some little school, but I'll say Louisiana State) Sometimes you have to gamble to become successful. On-field, Mathieu is one of the most talented CB we've seen in years. His ball-hawking, tight-coverage ability resembles Deion Sanders. His ball-stripping, turnover ability rivals Charles Tillman's. And HE CAN TACKLE! Being out of the limelight for a year due to personal issues has heavily diminished his draft value, but had things stayed the same, the 2011 Heisman finalist would have easily been a top-10 pick, if not better. I'd suggest taking Mathieu in the third round and beside Gilmore, can form one of the most dynamic young CB duos in the league. FOURTH ROUND 102. BUF - Kenny Stills -WR (Oklahoma) Rookie QB's need weapons. Stevie Johnson is a great receiver, but to live up to his full potential, the Bills need a secondary option to ease the pressure on SJ13. Kenny Stills (6-1, 190) is a great young talent. Not only does Stills have great hands, he is a YAC receiver. He makes as many plays with his feet as he does with his hands. With a good QB throwing him the ball, Stills can cause nightmares for opposing CB's. FIFTH ROUND 137. BUF - Kenjon Barner - RB (Oregon) If Barner slips to #137, the Bills are crazy to not draft him. Yes, CJ Spiller had a "should have been Pro Bowl" season, but we all know Spiller isn't a 20-25+ carry back. Barner brings a change of pace, great vision, and he can take a pounding. Another Heisman runner-up, take him if he's still there! SIXTH ROUND 167. BUF - Collin Klein - QB (Kansas State) Call me crazy, but why not draft Collin Klein? Sure he's not going to throw a pass in a NFL uniform, but his physical upsides are plenty. He can punch the ball in from anywhere in the redzone, he can be a fullback in goalline situations, he can even play tight end (6-5, 226). He'll sell jerseys, and put Buffalo on a larger scale media center! THANKS GUYS! PLEASE COMMENT!
