  1. I thought I would gauge the community's feelings on this since the debate is running hot and heavy right now.

    Assuming the Bills stay at #10, what player would you hate for the Bills to take? I tried to only list players who have been regularly associated with the Bills selection in this poll.

    Have at it!

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    If they can't get Kalil anyone except an offensive tackle. After Kalil there isn't an offensive tackle without a huge weakness. That's why draftniks are saying an offensive tackle at pick 10 is a huge reach. None of the tackles except Kalil warrant being picked that high. Buffalo has blown so many first picks in the past they might as well screw up another one. Anyone of those tackles is probably no better than the guy they didn't re-sign, Demetrius Bell. LOL Buffalo is just a farm team for the rest of the NFL, especially Philly. Buffalo loves to develop left tackles for the Eagles.. LOL Peters and now Bell.

  2. Joe Buscaglia has been talking with Nix and Gailey, and his impression is they will take Cordy Glenn at 10th overall to play LT. Take that FWIW.

    Cordy Glenn isn't even rated very high. If Buffalo doesn't take him he will still be available in the 2nd round. He's not 1st round material. Analysts say he won't make it as a left tackle and will have to move to guard or right tackle. If you draft this clown and move him to guard, why wouldn't you just draft Dave DeCastro who draftniks are saying is the best guard prospect in 10 years. They think DeCastro will be a perennial pro bowler in the NFL.

    But with Buffalo's reputation of BLOWN 1st round picks, I wouldn't doubt those numbnuts draft Glenn. The entire front office and their scouts should all be fired. They are about as usefull as two teats on bull.

  3. New poster here, just wanted to share some thoughts on the upcoming 1st round selection. In short, I think the Bills are down on Floyd and will pick Kirkpatrick.

    Michael Floyd has received a lot of attention from Bills fans, and many think that he is the default selection if he's on the board at 10. However, I don't think that the Bills FO is nearly as enamored.

    Over the past 2 drafts, I can't think of a single risky character-issue type guy that the Bills have pulled the trigger on. This is not an accident. The Bills have built one of the best locker-rooms in the NFL, and I think this is a major reason why players want to stay with or come to the them. With the exception of Janoris Jenkins, Michael Floyd has the worst character reputation of any first-rounder.

    It's also not as if Michael Floyd is a perfect player or a perfect match for the team. Great receiver, but probably not an elite vertical threat (yes, I know his 40-time) and looks a little lazy in his route running. He does seem to meet the "open when he's not open" criterion, but all of the "second-coming of Larry Fitzgerald" talk is undoubtedly premature.

    I'm also of the belief that Floyd's not having visited OBD is a bad sign given recent draft history. Kalil, Blackmon, Glenn and Kirkpatrick have all made visits.

    Why Kirkpatrick? He is a perfect fit. He's an ideal zone corner, which fits Wanny's scheme. He's got great instincts, and tremendous length for the position. He's extremely physical, helps in run support, and would be one of the best options to cover the New England TE's. He's also from a big-time, Southern, SEC school, which we all know is important to the Nix.

    Kirkpatrick does have a red flag, a incident recently where he was faced with marijuana charges that were later dropped. I don't think his issues are as bad as Floyd's who has been a repeat offender who's charges have not been dropped. Also keep in mind that Kirkpatrick gets excellent reviews from the Alabama coaching staff. I'm sure Dareus knows him well and can speak to his character.

    10 is early for Dre but not huge reach, especially in this draft. Wes Bunting actually has him being selected before 10. He could be a great player at a valuable position and a position of need.

    I'm not saying that I totally agree with it, but I think Kirkpatrick has a good chance of being selected at 10. I could definitely see them taking Blackmon if he slips or maybe an OT if they can talk themselves into it. Outside of this, I think Dre will be the guy.

    I'd rather take a chance on Janoris Jenkins in the second round if he falls because of his off field troubles.

    Thoughts?

  4. Vikings have been known to not even make a selection in the first round. If i recall they have done it twice a few years back? So who the hell knows with that organization.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    With the 3rd pick in the draft if the Vikings didn't make a selection I think the entire front office would be FIRED right there on the spot.

    we would have to give up more and mortgage the farm and sell the kids too.

    But if there were a way it fell to us! Like Kalil dropped to 6 or 7, i could see risking our future picks. Because that is one heck of a fantasy O line mister :thumbsup:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Sell the farm, farming sucks. Having kids is overated, dump the little b------ds while you can still get something for them. I'd rather have Kalil on the team.

  5. Cleveland will not take Tannehill at #4, let alone trade up to #3 for him.

    they want Barkley and will wait it out

    Tannehill won't beat out McCoy this year anyway because he is too green

    Highly doubtful the Dolphins give away picks for Tannehill either

    they take him at #8 or ride Matt Moore for another year-Dolphins need a #1 WR now that they created that hole by shipping out Marshall

    =============================================================================================================

    You're right, Cleveland isn't going to give up picks to move up to get Tannehill. Why should they give up picks? If Tannehill falls to them they MAY POSSIBLY take him. But if he doesn't they have a great running back that they want just as much or more. They aren't going to throw draft picks away. I wouldn't go by anything beerballs says, he doesn't know jack _____.

  6. I didn't mean to make you cry, I was just stating facts to bring some Bills fans back down to reality. One player doesn't turn a perennial loser into a championship team. It's not basketball where a Michael Jordon can dominate another team. The Bills haven't made the playoffs this entire century. They need a LOT of help.

    Let's face it, the Pats are light years ahead of us, we need a lot more talent to catch them. They were one missed catch away from another ring.

    The Pats have been good for so long it's sickening. I can't remember when they were bad, I think the last time they were bad the NFL was still using leather helmets.

  7. Several posters have wanted to draft Wilson, but this is the first I recall who has had Wilson starting in 2 years. So your "everyone" has little basis in fact.

    I think people may see Wilson as a backup or wildcat QB at best.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Maybe he's Ralph Wilson's grandson. LOL

    If so, he would start immediately. Ralph makes the decisions, that's why the Bills stink every year.

  8. No way, we can't give up one of our mid round picks that will end up being a practice squad player just to move up to 3 and get an instant starter.

    ===================================================================================================================

    You're right, but I think you are not getting what we are saying. We would be giving our number 1 pick along with a couple of our mid rounders to switch spots. They would still have a number 1 pick just not as high. If they don't want to gain a 3 and 4 to switch spots, then you are back to where you were, no harm no foul. At ten they would still get a pretty good player, it's not like they would be going all the way down to the 20th pick.

    A lot has to do with how they have players rated on their board. If they are not real high on a certain player and feel there are players that will be there at 10 that they like just as much, they may want to add two more picks. If they feel uncomfortable with the players that would be there at ten they won't do it. We have no way of knowing the grades they gave to players on their board. It may or may not be possible, doesn't hurt to ask and find out.

  9. whats the deal with everyone thinking russel wilson should be the starting qb in a year or 2? i dont see it in him. every year people start gushing on this mid round qb prospects for the bills. its crazy

    ===========================================================================================

    Well you have to realize the Bills fans haven't seen a decent quarterback since Jim Kelly, that was almost 20 years ago. Any quarterback that can throw a five yard completion looks like Peyton Manning to them.

  10. Yep i'm on board too. But we already spent so much money on defense are you sure you wouldn't rather have Kalil and make the game more fun to watch as compared to; kick off returned to 10. FG. kickoff returned to 21. fg. etc etc. ad nauseum lol!

    Yeah, but we would score everytime we got the ball. As long as the defense could hold the other team once in a while we would 3 point them to death. And maybe once in a while our offense could score a touchdown. I think if you could score everytime you get the ball you would win a lot of games, unless your defense is absolutely terrible. (Ewww, looking at the Bills defense in 2011, yeah, they are terrible. You would need an average or a little below average defense for my theory to be successful. Looks like it wouldn't work with the Bills "D". They are worse than the worst. The other team scores everytime they get the ball.

  11. This assumes that OBD's plan is Fitz for the next 2-4yrs

    Trade up for Kalil:

    2012 2nd

    2013 1st

    2013 2nd or trade Mckelvin (or both if required)

    Draft Decastro with this years 10th pick

    Draft WR/CB/LB with remaining picks in 2012 and fill any remaining gapes with FA/training camp/preseason cuts.

    RESULT: Quite possibly the Best O & D lines in the NFL in 2-3yrs. Best for 5-10ys.

    *NOTE: I would sacrifice our #1 in 2014 to recover a 1st selection in 2013 to snag a QB. (Like Wilson. He should be the starter in 2014. Our O & D lines will turn 3yrs old that season and should be a welled oiled machine. I cannot imagine a more perfect scenario to then start your franchise QB!!

    THIWR (Thats How I Would Roll)

    <Take cover>

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I LOVE your idea but I don't think the Vikings would give up the third over all pick in the draft without getting our 2012 1st rounder as part of the package. The offensive and defensive lines would certainly be dominant for long, long time. Adding Kalil and DeCastro to Levitre, Wood, and either (Pears or Hairston) would be sick. Even Fitz would look good behind that line. I believe the trenches are the MOST IMPORTANT part of a team. You build your lines first, I call it laying the foundation. The guys in the trenches determine how good your skill players will look. A great offensive line will make the backs and quarterback look better than they are. On the other side of the ball your defensive line determines how good your linebackers and defensive backs will look. Like they say, it all starts up FRONT.

    Great idea, but I don't think the trade would be possible. But man, what an offensive line the Bills would have!!! If Decastro and Kalil pan out as predicted, future pro bowlers, you would have at least 3, and maybe 4 of your lineman going to the pro bowl every year.

  12. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000d5d8282553a/article/spielman-vikings-might-trade-no-3-pick-even-at-the-last-minute?module=HP11_headline_stack

    I hope we dont trade with them. I love Kalil but I like having draft picks more. Plus I think we can get a quality player like Potter later.

    Harry Potter??????????????

    Trade the next two years picks and get a good kicker!

    As long as that kicker had a strong enough leg that he could kick 99 yard field goals with 99.9% accuracy, I would I would sign up for that.

  13. Would it be possible, if say a Claiborne or Richardson fell to pick #10, that the Bills would trade this pick to a team in the top part of the 2nd round this year for that team's 2013 first round pick?

    For instance, if Claiborne fell to #10 and St. Loius wanted to trade their 2nd round (#33) pick for our #10 and the Bills get the Rams 1st round pick in next years draft.

    I don't know if this is plausible, but if it were, I'd sign on for it in a second.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    See, we would all make better GMs than we currently have. Look at all these different trade scenarios the posters came up with. Imagination and a willingness to try and do something. But we all know down deep our front office is just going to stay pat with the 10th selection and pick an offensive tackle, (Reily Reiff or Jonathin Martin). Or even worse, trade down for a draft choice that isn't worth trading down for. I wouldn't go lower in the first round if I couldn't gain at least a 1st or 2nd rounder. I hope Buddy isn't dumb enough to trade down for a 3rd or 4th round pick.

  14. if vikings trade pick and or picks someone besides Kalil ( i think they trade the pick) and he falls past another team or two like browns bucs rams jags etc, which COULD happen. We get on the phone fast. i think this year we trade down or trade up. At least be very ready to move. if Kalil gets to five i am all in. as i would be for Luck or Griffin. Kalil is worth a number 3 value, is a long term starter and is elite at the position. But moving up to 3 is too expensive and 4 still brutal but at 5,6.7 i am working the phones hard.

    But i sure would hate to be wrong on this if we traded up :oops:

    So if its me, and it's not, i am trading down if the dealing works and kinda secretly hoping Kalil comes within our reach!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I agree with you, if the Vikings don't take Kalil and he falls to the 5th, 6th, or 7th pick, I would be on that phone working my butt off. I think you might have a shot of going from 10 to 5 for giving up our 3rd and 5th pick along with our first. If he falls to 7 the chances are real good you could get to that slot farily reasonable.

    I doesn't hurt to ask, the worst that could happen is they say no.

    If I couldn't move up to get Kalil I would try to trade down and see if I could get an additional 2nd rounder. I wouldn't trade down to gain a 4th rounder, a 3rd rounder would be the least I would take to trade down. 4th rounders are long shots to become starters, so I wouldn't trade down for a 4th rounder.

  15. Warren Sapp, a future Hall of Famer and current NFL Network analyst, has filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in Florida on claims he racked up millions in debt to several creditors.

    Sapp owes more than $6.7 million in debt to creditors and back child support and alimony. The outstanding amount outweighs Sapp’s 6.45 million in assets, which will be liquidated as a result of his filing for Chapter 7.

    Sapp lists his current income as $45,000 per month from NFL Network. His contract with the network expires in August 2012. Over a 12-year NFL career, Sapp made well over $40 million with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Condoms would have been a lot cheaper. If he would have broke down and bought condoms he wouldn't have to declare bankruptcy. When you let the little head do the thinking for the big head it's going to get you in trouble. My grampa told me if it has breasts or tires it's going to cost you a lot of money.

  16. According to NFL.com...

    Rankings

    24) Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo Bills: Look at his stats and you see a late-career bloomer. Look at his stats after his first 16 NFL games and you see why he's rounding out the bottom third. Defensive coordinators know how to slow him down. But he did go to Harvard, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as he attempts to make his own adjustments this offseason. Here's my first tip: Don't grow the beard.

    Its always a little disheartening to see this quarterback ranking and realize that as much as we like him, Fitz does fall in the bottom third of the league as far as QBs go. I look at that list and I cant even justify moving him up that list by more than maybe 1 or 2.

    Hey maybe we can trade Fitz for Andrew Luck! LOL You have to admit that was funny, stupid but funny. Hope I at least made you smile a little. LOL

    Buffalo has missed the playoffs for twelve straight years...There I can do it to!

    ===========================================================================================

    OWOOOOGA! Kidprison, you be a HOTTIE! You must be from Tennessee, you're the only TEN I see.

  17. LB at 10 would be a real commitment to the front 7 this off-season. Two big DE signings to aid the pass rush plus adding a LB in the first round. If the Bills drafted a CB in round 2 and another LB in round 3 the D will be stacked up and ready to go.

    But then that leaves two huge holes on the offensive side of the ball. If I were the Bills I would invest the 10th pick on Floyd then invest the 2nd and 3rd rounders on the LB and CB side of things.

    Bottom line is the Bills have too many holes to fill to be a legitimate contender in 2012. They can't get enough players in one draft to fill all their needs. Realistically speaking, the Bills will need this year's draft and next years to fill the holes. Look for them to be a contender in 2013, if they draft well this year and next. Let's face the cold hard facts, the Pats are still going to be the class of the AFC east in 2012. The Pats will win the division in 2012 barring any major injuries. Key injuries can change things in a hurry.

  18. if the above poster is correct and Wanny will play mostly zone, then McKelvin will not be very productive since he does not possess the savvy or smarts to play zone

    he has press cover skills which will be wasted

    put him on the slot guy and utilize his skills

    ========================================================================================================================

    I didn't see the press coverage skills from McKelvin. I saw NO skills from McKelvin. He couldn't cover anyone even if you gave him a blanket. The guy is another blown number 1 pick by the Bills. Like that is something new. LOL McKelvin will be gone when his contract is up, you can bet on it.

    I hope this will be his break out year. After last season on how our D play it was bad. But yet it was our D-coach that did a very poor job too. So hopefully since wanny is our new D-coach hopefully a lot of our players improve a lot

    ===========================================================================================================================

    I'll give you the argument that our defensive coaches weren't very good, but they can only do so much with what they have to work with. If you have a bunch of lousy players even the best coach can't do much with them. The coach can't go out there and cover the receivers. If a guy isn't good enough to cover NFL receivers, he will get beat no matter who is standing on the side lines. Bad players are just bad players.

  19. I'll wholeheartedly go along with the first half of what you've written, while disagreeing with the second half. A franchise LT is worth trading up for. The Bills acquire a large "quantity" of players every year. You'd think that after a few years of that, the Bills' need for quantity would be filled--at least for a while. However, players chosen for quantity often don't last very long. Kalil will. So why not get Kalil and some quantity this year, and add to the quantity next year?

    However, I disagree with the idea of trading away the Bills' first round pick in next year's draft. If you don't have a franchise QB--and the Bills don't--you shouldn't be trading away future first rounders for anything except a young franchise QB! Filling that need is that important!

    Unfortunately, I think that Beerball is probably right. In my mind, the most likely scenario is the following:

    1. The Browns move up one slot in the draft to #3 overall. This allows them to take Tannehill at 3rd overall, thereby locking the Dolphins out of that pick.

    2. The Vikings move down to 4th overall (the Browns' old pick). They take Kalil there; while also receiving some compensation from the Browns for their trouble.

    If the above happens--which it probably will--then the Bills should stay at 10th overall. Unless, of course, there's the chance to trade down in this year's draft while acquiring a first round pick in the 2013 draft! :thumbsup: Having two first round picks in next year's draft would better position the Bills to take the franchise QB that's their true need.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    It would be GREAT to gain another 1st rounder next year, but I can't see a team giving up a 1st round pick just to move up to 10. You would be lucky if you gain a second rounder. And with the Bills reputation of trading, it wouldn't even be a 2nd, it would probably be a 3rd. Everyone fleeces the Bills in trades. We trade ex first rounders for 4th and 5th picks. Our front office STINKS when it comes to trading. We got garbage picks for Lynch, McGahee, Evans, Peters, etc.

    If the Bills would have dumped a few more games last year and finished where the Rams did, they would be on the road to success. The choices they gained from the Red Skins would allow you to really add some talent quickly. Those six wins set the Bills back a whole year in stocking talent.

    The Colts were smart in dumping games until the end of the year when they knew they had the Andrew Luck sweepstakes locked up. St.Louis just lucked out that Washington was willing to give away the farm to get the second best quarterback in the draft. All those draft picks should make the Rams get good in a hurry. They even got another number 1 next year out of it.

  20. Here's a dream: Swap #3 for #10 plus Chris Kelsay and Leodis McKelvin.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    I would sign up for that in a heartbeat. But you know Minnesota isn't dumb enough to take our useless garbage to switch spots. What are they going to do with two totally useless slugs. Kelsay and McKelvin stink out loud. They are perfect examples of very poor drafting.

    Minnesota would probably want way more to trade down.

    I would sign up for our 4th and 5th picks to trade spots. Or even both of our 4th round picks, but the Vikings would probably want higher picks than that. I would NOT give up our second round to move up. I would MAYBE consider our 3rd rounder. Kalil looks like a franchise left tackle. He would improve our run game and pass protection NOTICEABLY! He would be worth trading up for if the price is reasonable. A great left tackle makes any offense a lot better.

    That is of course if he turns out to be as good as the analysts predict.

  21. This is a good question and one I've been pondering lately.

    First - what does the switch to 4-3 with Wanny as our coach, and the addition of Mario and Anderson do to our defensive? That is what we have to go on now. I say Wanny's approach, his system, is going to allow our players to show their talents more than we've seen lately. That means our secondary should jump up in the turnover statistics. Secondly, with Dareus and Williams in the middle, we'll likely see less of a run game success against us straight up the gut. To the outside, though? That will depend largely on how well Anderson, Kelsay, Merriman, Morrison - and whoever else they bring in do in run support. We know our pass rush is going to be excellent.

    So, as it is now, how will offenses attack us? I'd say an offense like New England's, which has had a few years to figure this type of attacking 4-3 offense out, will go about it with - surprise, surprise, Adding blocking backs - FB's (which we know they have) and attacking the middle of the defense and screen plays, or perimeter plays.

    I still think in order for our Bill's defense to be able to dominate we have to eliminate the weaknesses that we see and are aware of. Our LB corps is suspect. We need Sheppard to prove he's able to man that middle linebacker spot. We need an OLB to add to the starting three, even if Sheppard is good enough for the Middle spot. I think our Safeties are pretty excellent as is, with Byrd, Wilson, Searcy (who I really like) and Bryon Scott - an excellent LB/Safety option to counter the TE's.

    But, our CB's are suspect. McKelvin has to be put into positions where his skill can play without having to rely on thinking too much. Otherwise, his great skillset will be worthless - and I'm pretty sure there is some DC out there who could figure out how to use him properly, so let's hope it is Wanny. Aaron Williams looks good. Corner is good, too, and Florence is reliable. That rookie from last year - Rodgers - he looked good to me, too. So, although we could stand to get another proven, lock-down corner to complement the bunch and turn it into a strength, I think we could go at it okay, WITHOUT Injuries, now.

    To answer the question - there are still going to be ways to attack us and frustrate us. And, it is a copycat league. Look at how we got shut down on offense last year after teams figured out how to stifle our strategy. We need more playmakers in whatever mold Wanny is thinking of at LB - Unless he thinks he can use guys like Batten, Moats, Chris White as LB's - in which case we might not be as thin as we think. We'll have to see about that.

    I say in the first 4 rounds (5 picks) we need to add a LT, WR, OLB, CB, and either a second OLB or WR. Unless there's a QB in there they really like, which trumps all other positional needs.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I think our linebackers are the weak link on the defense. That is the area we have to get lucky in the draft. Hopefully we can pick up good linebacker or preferably two. Barnett is the only linebacker we have right now that is starting material. Sheppard I think is going to be a bust. Unless he can show a HUGE improvement from last year, he will be a weakness other teams will attack. Batten, Chris White, and Moats are not starting material. They would be O.K. depth but nothing more. If we get lucky and Merriman can get healthy, he would be the answer to one linebacker spot. But getting back to 100% from an achilles injury is a long shot. He would need to be 100% to stop the run, otherwise he would just be a pass rush specialist.

  22. Strictly talking defense here.

    Over the last couple years (well... longer than that) our porous defense has been especially porous against our AFC East rivals for some reason or another. With the Williams and Anderson signings, are we finally ready to keep our rivals at bay? The way I'm looking at this is that CBs will look better by not having to stick to the WRs hip for 5-6 sec coupled with some new and refreshing QB pressure. QBs will scramble and be taken down or get pushed forward right into Kyle and Marcel.

    Matt Moore looked like Tom Brady last year against us and Tom Brady was, well, Tom Brady (I'm talking wk 17 Brady). Sanchez sucks. No more Brandon Marshall, Matt Light expected to retire if he hasn't already, and Tebow has Sanchez insecure about his role (probably complaining to his parents). Do you think our defense can make a substantial jump? A jump meaning giving up, say, no more than 17 ppg? I think so, as long as we get some LB/DE depth via draft or our young guys start to step up.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Mario Williams will make the Bills a lot better, but let's be realistic, not enough to over take the New England Patriots. One player can't transform one of the "joke teams" of the NFL into a contender. The Bills are very, very bad team, it's not like they already have the core nucleus and are a player or two away. The Bills have more holes than Swiss cheese. They have too many needs to become a contender in one off season. They still need a Left tackle, wide receiver, corner back, two linebackers. You can reasonably expect to fill two, or if you are really lucky, maybe three of those needs in one draft. If they have two good drafts, this year and next, they have a really good chance to be contenders in 2013. It's all up to the scouting department and the people making the picks.

    I hate to say it but at this point the Pats are still the class of the eastern division. Billy B. has a dynasty over there. I hate him, he is the best in the business.

  23. We could have the best one two punch in the league this year with Fedex and CJ. If we shore up the LT spot it could solidify our line for years to come. I realize the NFL has been a passing league for the last few years but getting a stud on the line could make us a double threat in the run and pass game. If we bank on Chris Hairston at LT it would seem to risky for such an important position where we need depth. That depth is gone with Bell going to Philly. If our line that was good not great with all five starters in falters we could end up with a bad year on offense. I hope we go OT in round 1 and grab a receiver later in round 1 trading up or in the 2nd like the speed receiver out of Rutgers. I like Floyd but IMO we need OL.

    What about drafting DeCastro for left guard and moving Levitre to left tackle?
