  1. I think John is one of the he asks and answers the question in the process, like he does not want to give the interviewer a chance at saying something contrravercial(sp) . I for one am not a fan of this type of questioning, I would rather have a question like Seeing your from Rochester where would like to see a stadium built? Whats the point of interviewing a guy for yes and no answers and they are struggling to make it more than yes and no.

    My two cents worth.

  2. The problem I see with going better than 8-8 is the schedule. Much more difficult than last year. Both Offense and Defense should be better than last year as the learning curve has shortened better knowledge in the the systems. . I see a lot of very close games and if Rex's D does not get better our head coach in waiting is Roman so we can move forward in a more uniform way than in the past. I think the only way we make the playoffs is to win the division. As you all know that will be a daunting task. Wins out of the division will be tough I see us as 5-1 in Division this year do not see Fins and Jets not improved enough to beat us and this is the year we get one from the cheatriots.

  3. Penn St's Christian Hackenberg looks like a case study in reverse on how coaching changes can ruin a young developing QB. The kid looked brilliant as a freshman under Bill O'Brian and when O'Brian left for the Texans Hackenberg took several steps backwards in his development. A new and different coaching staff, new offensive scheme, and after his freshman season the O-line, WR talent went downhill bigtime.

All this reminds me of how some inept coaches and surrounding players can hurt a young QB attempting to develop properly. Like Doug Marrone with no QB coach, a very bad O-line and OC. That said, EJ has been learning under a better OC and the Bills now have a much-improved line. So, in my view, it will be interesting to see if EJ has improved at all under Greg Roman as compared to what he didn't learn under Marrone / Hackett.

Anyway, I wouldn't be against the Bills drafting a QB at any point in this draft. I think the Bills were really thinking of moving up to the number two position to draft Wentz until the Eagles beat them to it. The Bills have had Connor Cook, Cardale Jones, and Dak Prescott all into Buffalo for a pre-draft look. Should Paxton Lynch be there at 19 I'd have to think the Bills will give him serious consideration. In all probablity it will be Jones in the 3rd round.

I think Jones will be going to Cleveland in the 2nd or 3rd possibly. we will not have a shot at him in my opinion. My guess in brows go Elliot in the First if they can then Jones. Build with an Ohio team while taking the number one pick on QB next year.

  4. I remember that moment well. I was watching the round 3 of the draft thinking wow, Wilson is still there and we really need a QB, maybe he will last. I was so excited when they announced the trade up. I was sure the only reason to do that was they were afraid he would be gone before their slot. I thought what a smart, ballsy move. Then they announced TJ. I checked out his ratings online and said WTF,WTF!

I will admit it. I wrongly thought EJ was the best QB choice in that draft. But I certainly didn't think any QB was worth a first, or even 2nd round pick that year.

EJ still is the best QB in that draft who in that draft would you rather of had. I was saying trade back again when they took him at 18, figured either he or Gino would have still been available, unless you liked him a lot better than Gino.

  5. Coughlin's time management was worse the Rex's it cost his team at least 3 games this year. In a perfect world I would demote Rex to DC and hire an overseer of Offense and Defense who was only calling the game letting his offensive and defensive coordinators control their sides and only decide on time outs, challenges and going for it on 4th down or kicking. I think the day of head coaches overseeing one side of the team and play calling are gone. There is just too much to handle in an efficient manner on the sideline. Rex is too emotional to do a good job with this IMHO.

  6. There are eight QBs in the playoffs this year that were passed over in the draft or free agency by Nix/Whaley. Several of these were on teams that didn't "need" a QB. The Bills should target a QB early in the draft. It would be shame to go through yet another draft without building up the QB stable in a meaningful way.

I think the bills had both Myers and oswiler on there radar that year and were taken a round earlier than projected

  7. It is very rare for a HC to get fired after only one year. I have to assume Rex is safe for next year.

If that is the case, is Whaley gone? Are coaching changes made? Roman? Crossman?

    Mario gone? Carpenter?

Do they sign Richie and/or Glenn? Extend Gilmore before he reaches FA in 2017?

What positions do they target in FA and the draft?

If rex stays we spend our draft picks on LB to fit is 3- 4 scheme and draft a quarterback and ignore the line yet again. I love Whaley and think he has done a great job. However, the Watkins deal was a mistake. We should have traded back and we would have had our lineman and a good receiver. Why trade up for a WR in a Strong WR draft. Rex's Management of the game on the sidline was a tire fire in NY and now in Buffalo.

People are saying do to his contract you can not let Rex go. If you make a mistake you eat it and move forward you don't keep investing in a bad idea. Rex is about de feet .

  8. Rex Ryan defense not working right now. Against Brady and Manning not even close to good enough. They will feast on crappy QB's. Could it be too complicated or players not ready in it yet?

Greg Roman really lost the game by running the same inside run on first down for the entire first half. Let Tyrod go downfield and let's throw on 1st down way more.

Injuries mounting. We have way too many guys out this early in the year.

Anger on players has to be controlled. I would have liked to see our linebackers make a tackle or two up the middle.

Let's also give Giants credit. Manning and Coughlin have won 2 Superbowls. We aren't beating guys like that with crappy play like we saw today.

during the first half I thought we brought back Marones offense, like in Miami we need to set up the run with the pass and play action. Middle 10-15 yard passes were there as well as over the top it took us 3 quarters to figure it out,

To help you out a little bit, I reformatted and added EJ's career numbers:

    Name QB Rt	QBP	Var
    Russell Wilson 94.96	102.7	7.74
    Jake Locker 70.95	75.87	4.92
    EJ Manuel (Tot) 78.46	83.34	4.88
    EJ Manuel (2014)	80.26	84.57	4.3
    Blake Bortles 69.51	73.69	4.18
    Cam Newton 82.13	86.07	3.93
    Teddy Bridgewater	85.2	87.9	2.7
    Andy Dalton 83.33	85.78	2.45
    Michael Vick 68.34	70.03	1.69
    Drew Stanton 78.66	80.29	1.63
    Ryan Fitzpatrick 95.34	96.85	1.52
    Colin Kaepernick 86.19	87.63	1.44
    Geno Smith 77.53	78.79	1.27
    Joe Flacco 90.87	92.12	1.26
    Mike Glennon 83.3	84.36	1.06
    Josh McCown 70.46	71.13	0.67
    Ryan Tannehill 92.8	93.44	0.64
    Alex Smith 94.26	94.49	0.23
    Colt McCoy 96.39	96.5	0.11
    Peyton Manning 101.52	101.52	0

Couple things to remember when going this route... running will have a bigger impact the lower the initial QB rating is, unless said runner is really poor, or turns the ball over a lot.

If you're a good passer, you're less likely to run, just by glancing at the numbers (and you know, watching football).

EJ definitely has athletic ability, but he's not a huge run threat, imo. Rather he has the ability to escape a collapsing pocket.

    Organized by QBP

I am being a little nick picky here I am sure but in your writting you mention Andrew Luck but do not include in your analysis? Why?
