To address the second half, there are few WRS that I would put above DBs in this class. There is so much talent at DB I think it will be more rare that the WR would be the BPA.The Bills don't draft to the BPA approach under Whaley(outside of 2015 draft when they were relatively need free).
If the best player available is a WR but there are also some solid corners on the board, I have no doubt they'll go corner.
-
To me this means either
1) They really do envision having the talent on the current roster.
2) They don't want to tip their hand.
3) My most likely scenario, they let the draft come to them and if the board falls where WR is BPA that it doesn't matter what round they will look for one. Most likely to compete for the job.
I fore one think we absolutely need more talent at WR and Tight End behind Clay. I would be more than inclined to draft either early. Well, not TE in the first, but, this class has a lot of depth at the position. Would love Leggett from Clemson on day three.
-
I think the color rush idea is pretty cool.
Especially since I really do love ours and the Saints ones
-
I would take Mahomes or Trubisky at 10 with no hesitation.
Yes, if you limit Air Raid to Texas Tech you can say that. But Tedford ran an offense very similar to Air Raid and Aaron Rodgers turned out ok. The Air Raid is just a form of spread offense. College spread QB's are doing fine in the NFL.
Rodgers threw half the attempts that Mahomes did. I understand you affection towards Mahomes but don't use the likes of Aaron Rodgers to base your argument off of.
You keep saying the air raid is a version of the spread, which I guess is right because the spread is more or less a formation not really a philosophy. Adding more passing options to spread the width of field is used for a variety of reasons, primarily to open up the ground game by forcing opponents to have less guys in the box.
The spread is become more vague since. The Air Raid was an evolution of the spread in terms of just pUT as many guys out there as you can and just throw the ball all darn game.

Steve actually was one of the more successful WRS against Revis...But -- and no offense -- your opinion is actually wrong because it's factually wrong.
Granted there were drops that hurt his overall stat line, but.
-
It's taking a step which I appreciate.

Wilson was knocked for his height not his talent. If Wilson had been taller he would hAve absolutely went higher and a lot of people knew that. This guy is worthy of the first pick in the draft. I trade all of the bills other picks for this guy he is going to be special it's just a feel i have in my bones about how good he can be. I'm not afraid to say it. I stand by my feelings and convictions.
Here are my other posts about him
I wrote this in another post a bout Mahomes. This guy is the best QB in the draft bar none. He will be a pro bowler down the line. He is the closest thing to Aaron Rogers and Brett Farve there is. He makes un believable throws that are Acurate from weird angels and with bad foot work. This guy is the one you want. The NFL is not like college. You don't always get a lot of clean pockets and you don't always get to set up and throw on balance or get your feet set. I want a QB that can throw on the run or throw when his feet are not correct and people are in his face. This guy can do that in spades. Go watch him on YouTube you will see something extraordinary. Don't get fooled about the experts saying oh his foot work is bad, His back leg shakes, Blah, Blah, Blah. Watch Chargers Rivers, Watch GB Rogers these guys throw
at all angels, throw with in correct foot work and throw on the move across there body all the time. Who the Fu@k cares how they throw it. Does he complete the passes yes he does. Yes you will be required to do that in The NFL , good one's can pull it off. Well when I watch Mahomes that's what I see. So please just stop the nonsense. If we get this guy a great new Era in Bills football is about to begin. His statistics
mean nothing to me or what offense he played in.
my eyes don't lie I see the next great one and he's there for the taking.
Let me ask all the detractors of him, how many times does a NFL QB go back and set up and not have to move off his spot. Most times QBs end up having to move and throw off there back foot or throw moving forward or rolling out. Playing QB in the NFL you don't have a lot of time. Go watch this kid play, watch him throw.
He is doing amazing stuff. Making throws from all sorrts or bad angles off his back foot, flat footed and on the run. Most of them right on the mark. I could care less about his satistics or how many TDs he's thrown. He has started a ton of games. This guy is a leader and he has a very strong arm. He can do things most QB's can only dream about. He is Farve, he is Rogers he has that gift. Keep wanting that perfect foot work QB and that Perfect throwing motion QB.
I will take this guy over that guy 10 ways to Sunday every day of the week. If we are lucky to get this guy I be dancing in the street.
I take him with the first pick in the draft he is that good.
Here is Patrick Mahomes playing against the great LSU Tigers Defense from the SEC in his Bowl Game. Just some unbelievable plays by Mahomes. These are the type of players he will be playing against in the NFL. Maybe he will have some offensive linemen to protect him. LSU is chasing him all over the field and the kid is just making plays like a Farve or Rogers would. This guy is special you can just see it, feel it and sense it. These might be his most interesting high lights because of the stud defense LSU has. This is fun to watch. It's like watching Farve in his prime
You can't teach what he does and how he makes those throws in any of his games or in that LSU game against future NFL defenders. Only guys like Farve and Rogers and a hand full of other QB's can do that. I don't care what anyone says. I said it when the Bills passed on Russell Wilson and I will say it right now.
You pass on this guy your making a big mistake. I can't wait for the John Gruden QB camp thing with Mahomes. Just like the Russell Wilson one. Man you could just tell that he was going to be special. Here it is for those who missed Russell Wilson with John Gruden how do you not draft this guy after watching this
Not trying to be vecicious here, but the whole I callen russell wilson thing is a bit old and played out.
I loved Dak Prescott last hear, doesNT mean I am a calling shots on who is going to be the next best thing.

Try and trade back and acquire assets. At least with Manuel that's what we did. The staff identified him, but also knew they would be better off waiting and moving down in the draft.I don't mean this in a snarky way, but if that's the case, then what's your plan for the future of the QB position?
I've argued that it's paramount to identify your guy and take your shot. For as much as the EJ pick failed, it was absolutely the right approach. They didn't have a franchise hopeful at the QB position, so they identified the guy that they thought had the best chance and took him.
I'd have zero issue if they do it again.
We have seen QBS start to pop up in various rounds of the draft, I think if you can trust your scouting department than maybe we have something in Cardale.
I mean, my think is, I absolutely despise TT. I never liked him from day one and sure as heck don't like him now.
However, we also have a massive amount of holes and the one thing the more successful QBs have in common is they typically are stepping into a better situation roster wise.
If buffalo does go QB I won't be up in arms but I don't think this is the draft class to get one at ten.
-
I am bias towards Watson. I do think Trubisky has a lot of potential and think Mahomes has a lot of potential as well.Agree and I want Trubisky.
However, I don't think this class is the best to be taking a QB 10th overall.
-
I never said he wasn't a first round prospect. I have also went onto say he'll most likely be the first QB off the board.Lot of mocks have the Texans drafting him in the 1st round at pick 25.
Why so salty ?
However, I don't think he's worth 10th overall. He's way to raw fot my taste and I remember Manuel being raw and being forced into action to quick...
Today's NFL seldom will give QBS time to develop.
I absolutely hate TT. I want a QB more than anyone.I want the right oneThey have a TT jersey?
-
Except that Mahomes had 40 more TDs (passing/rushing), over 2000 more yards passing, and a 20 point higher QB rating in 15 less games played.
Also threw the ball close to 600 times in back to back years.
-
So a fan has been all over him, means professional teams will be as well.No...it's because I've been all over this guy for a year:
Gotcha.
-
Funny thing is the guy could move the team... so there is that
-
This sounds awfully familiar to those who wanted Nassib. All because the media said he should go in the first, remind me again where he was drafted.
You don't think teams will link then selves to players in order to drum up false interest?
Mahomes is, in no way worth the tenth overall.

I am from Kearny, NJ and now live in Levittown, NY, which is Long Island.
I became a Bills fan back in 82.
In 81, when I was 9 years old, my fandom was all over the place. So, my father, who was a big Jets fan, told me to pick a team or face a lifetime of persecution, lol.
So, the Bills and Jets happened to be playing the 81 Wild Card game at the time and I told my father I will root for whichever team wins this game.
It just so happened that I was rooting for the Bills during the game anyways cause the entire crowd was for the Jets. I was always rooting for the bad guys when I was young, lol.
So that's the strange story of me becoming a Bills fan.
I am from Port Jefferson Station, Suffolk. Spent about 27 of my 29 years of existence there.
Kind of funny cause my father is a die hard jets fan. Growing up we werent allowed to watch games in the same room.
To this day I have to give the man some credit for letting all four of his boys be Bills fans while he was a Jets fan.
My son is 2 and heaven help me if he roots for another team lol.

Lawson in ways, reminds me of Aaron Schobel. Nothing fancy, just straight up power.
I don't think we will ever see a double digit sack total from Shaq, but he'll be like what Vernon is to the Giants.
-
I'm from long Island and my godfather (cousin) was a die hard bills fan. Being born in '87 I was still a pup during the SB years, but he was able to turn us all into bills fans.

You don't need to be a plumber to know cleaning up s... all day isn't funRemind me, which team did you serve as GM, where they won multiple Super Bowls?
Fact of the matter is, thus a results based business and Whaley hasn't produced results.
-
You have knowledge of real teams board? Impressive. I mean the media has never been wrong on their rankings. It appears that your board will not be used by real NFL teams.
-
No denying what Revis was once upon a time. He doesn't have the ability IMO to switch to safety and be effective. Revis made a living on opponents hips and reading a route tree well.
That diminished immensely over the years.
-
What's the bar set at for a break out for him? 4 sacks, 12 games played? He can't suck more than he did last year.
Really? This has to be a troll attempt.
-
Why would Whaley being let go after the draft really shock anyone?
He's made a few good picks and a couple nice trades. So have most NFL GMs not named Grigson.
In any event, it sounds like McDermott has a lot of pull with the Pegulas. Hey, maybe we got it right this time with the coach.
Why would you allow him to be a part of the draft if you have intentions on firing him?
Plus, I don't think the intent would be to fire him, but shift his title.

Pretty much how I see this thread going.i like player X
player X sucks and your an idiot
Add in those who defend a prospect to the death.

Change is inevitable, I mean to be fair I don't think anyone considered losing Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless losing big time talent to the competiton. Sure, espn tried to retain them, but they are shock jocks who are blatant blowhards to get views/attention.While I'm at it....
I remember a thread about sports media, a few years ago...when I predicted that FS1 would destroy ESPN, specifically because: Fox management has already proven it knows how to penetrate a seemingly impenetrable market(See: Ratings of Fox News, today), because the market, in truth, is rotten.
I was told that I was totally wrong, and the business was so big that all FS1 was doing was jumping into an underserved market, at best. I was told all sorts of crap as well. The numbers don't lie. In 1996 Fox got into the cable news business. The business results have been devastating for their competition.
Now: I direct your, and those who told me I was totally wrong, to this: ESPN's top "talent" like them or not, have moved to FS1. And, there's this small story, about $100 million in on-air layoffs.
I wonder where those clowns who argued with me, back when FS1 started are today. Surely, they aren't going to show up in this thread and admit they were wrong.
In any event, as an internet expert I say: You should only worry about clickbait...if you can't comprehend "The Boy Who Called Wolf". Most of us learned that story in Pre-K. Some of us learned it later. In all cases? What happens to the boy?
Furthermore, espn was the only real entity to poach from. Why aren't we hearing about FS1 having their own big names they have essentially helped build?
ESPN has been the cornerstone of the sports networking for how long? Every big dog in the yard will eventually have someone who tries to take their title.
Yet, ESPN, as of now still owns the market.
Sounds like LB early is a possibility
