I don't think its really that surprising to me about the rushing yards.  With an improved OL and some speed, getting some chunk yardage is there for him.

BUT where Cook really needs praise that I have not seen really anyone talk about, is this kids toughness and tenacity both as a rusher and in pass protection.  Seriously, I don't think anyone thought much of him in regards to toughness or pass protection coming into the season, but I have been really impressed with both.  And this is why he has emerged as a lead back rather than just the speed guy and receiving weapon out of the backfield with Harris/Murray handling more the downhill running.

For example, here is a clip from the Raider game and there were more plays like this where he has really taken a guy out in pass protection.  The bottom clip is some of his runs and breakdowns during the Raider game and you can see him just break tackles and get more yardage on contact.

IMHO, this is really why he has ascended to a lead RB role with the Bills, his improvement in pass protection and his toughness and I don't think he is getting enough credit yet for this and he should be.

Some people should go to 1:51 and watch until the end. Pretty funny how the db ends up after tangling with Cook.

How many yards does he have when the Bills are up 3 scores?

I’ll make it easy. Most of his yards have come late in blowouts. Nothing to impressive so far.

So, we're up big and we use him to run the clock down and shorten the game and you have a problem with that?!?! Again, too many people on this board complaining just to complain.  🙄

2 years ago Diggs was 28...preparing for life after Diggs wasn't in play and neither was replacing Morse, so stop blending today with 2 years ago.  So the only thing that was a "need" out of those 3 positions 2 years ago was RT, and they did address it, which is why they didn't address it last year or this year given they felt Browns issues last year were tied to his injury issues.  Whether they will be right or wrong on Brown is yet to be seen, but he has definitely not been as bad as last year so far.

Sometimes you make too much sense for some here. I was going to interject with the same thing.

SF, Miami, Philadelphia, Cinci and Seattle all clearly have two dynamic WR1 talents as their second receiver.   That's 5 indisputable examples not 3.  There are a bunch of other teams that have have two WR1 talents when both are healthy or if the QB play is even adequate.   Some of them even have WR3's that could be fringe WR1's like Cinci with Boyd and Seattle with JSN.

The Bills are not one of these teams.   They have a very clear WR1 and a big drop-off to Gabe as a WR3 talent with clear limitations.

So to imply that it's "unrealistic" to have a WR1 level talent opposite your primary target is not so.........it's closer to a 25% scenario than "unrealistic" and most of the teams that have such setups are SB contenders.

Why you choose to look like a fool on hills like this and those of Star Lotulelei and Tremaine Edmunds etc.. is a curiosity.

If true, this would tell me the Bills aren’t serious about improving their offense like the Dolphins are…They will always be limited so long as Davis is the #2…And with Diggs getting older and slower, the Bills are simply going to need more speed…

Just look at what Cook’s speed is doing for the run game…Now imagine the upgrade to the WR room that speed would bring…👍

Gabe Davis is the “Devin Singleterry” of WRs…

You're entitled to your opinion, but not everyone agrees. Resigning a WR who averages almost 17 yds per catch for his career is not a bad thing. Counting this season, we've been a top 3/top 2 offense over the past 3 seasons. In the entire league. Gabe has been a big part of that production. You might not like it, but bringing Davis back wouldn't be a bad signing. Obviously, dependent on how much. As far as being serious about improving the offense, I guess the mention of Cook by you, improving the interior of the o-line and trading up for Kincaid means they aren't serious? You're going to base this on 1 signing, forgetting everything else done to improve the offense? O-line improvements, Kincaid this year alone. Damian Harris, Murray, not to mention Cook last year. The #2 scoring offense this year and all of last year. In the entire league. Please don't try to flip this into "it's cuz of Josh". That is not only false, but also as lazy as saying "fire Dorsey".

Spencer Brown and Gabe Davis both have significant warts as starters. No one wanted Edmunds at that price on the Bills, even folks who liked him. Ed Oliver was a relative disappointment at his draft slot but is having the best season of his career so far.

it is harder to be wronger than this post

Very true. I was one of his biggest supporters, but I definitely did not want to pay him that much.

As a side note: I liked the Bernard pick. I watched him play in college and he always seemed to stand out to me. I also like the Dorian Williams pick. A lot. He's going to develop into a nice LB for us.

I can understand where you're coming from.  For me, when I saw that replay, I was sick.  This is our guy who has our WR2 role and that was the route he ran?  There are only so many plays he is out there and he has to know they are going to review each one.

Josh doesn't need to be excused, his job is nowhere near in jeopardy.  A borderline WR2, in what I hope is a trial run, cannot be doing these things.  IMO we needed him to improve and he hasn't.

Get over Gabe already. Late 4th round pick making less than $ 1 million per season. You can’t get his production at that price just anywhere. He probably won’t be back next season, but he’s really important to this year’s team. We drafted him and played him. Is he good enough for a second contract? That’s up to Beane. He’s going to make way more positive plays than negative. Way more. Of course one drop and this board goes crazy. I’m not surprised at a drop by him,  it’s expected. But if he goes down to injury this year, it would really hurt our offense. Fact.

Yep and these posters don't want to admit it. Just because Josh is able to turn nothing into something doesn't mean the offense is clicking. All of our big plays come from Josh scrambling and making something happen. That's not the way to consistently win in this league. The OC is calling a trash game and Josh is covering up his inadequacies.

    Not true. Complainer talk.

  8. Find a perfect offense and I can find flaws. Find a perfect defense and I can find flaws. News flash: there is no perfect offense or defense in the league. The league is built on parity. I hope some of you aren’t pissed the offense isn’t perfect, but like last season we’re 2nd in the entire league in points per game. Even after Josh blew chunks vs the Jets.

    To Beane and Dorsey,

You’re doing fine not listening to the noise here. Keep up the great work!

Obviously it's not one person.  And more than one person can have a bad game.

But when a borderline WR runs a route like that, there can be real consequences.  Especially when going into this season Gabe had to become more consistent, clean up the drops, and run better routes.  It hasn't happened.  Plan B needs to be in full swing, and this can't wait until next year.

Just responding to a quote from you:  His lackadaisical route against the Jets cost us the game. It's very annoying when I see " Edmunds never made an impact play" or " His lackadaisical route against the Jets cost us the game". There's still people here excusing Josh for that game. I tried to move on but it's hard when this stuff keeps popping up.

I agree.  The OLine and Spencer both seem improved.  Of course they could improve more.

Meanwhile our real "biggest problem on offense"  (WR2) does not seem to have been addressed or improved.  The inconsistency of G Davis is still there.   His lackadaisical route against the Jets cost us the game.  Another baffling drop against Wash.  I've seen enough, the trial is over.  Do what it takes to get a stud WR - M Evans or C Kupp.

Some of you are still excusing away Josh's terrible performance!?!? Stop with the BS, Josh lost that game. Not Dorsey, not Gabe, not Brown, not McDermott. Straight up Josh. Even if a crisp route was run, Josh should not have thrown that pass. I guess the other INT's and the fumble just don't matter. Cuz it's Josh?

Don’t get yds after contact and broken tackle mixed up very different stats . Cook has 1 broken tackle on the year. That’s awful.

You should see the video posted by a few here. I mean, he broke at least 4 tackles in that game alone. WTH are you watching? Same group of complainers with nothing better to do.

  12. From an article by someone named Sneaky Joe with WGR Sports:

"Cook has 127 rushing yards after contact, good for fourth in the NFL. Cook also has 46 yards over expected this season. The only running backs with more: Christian McCaffrey, Bijan Robinson, Nick Chubb, and Austin Ekeler. That's elite company."

I know YAC is different than breaking a tackle to some here, but if you break a tackle that would count as YAC to me.

Short answer to the OP's question: Yes!!!

No it doesn’t. Chiefs were 25th in attempts last year. Taking the ball out of your star QB’s hands is a win for the defense, always. This is dinosaur mentality.

    But Allen ain't no Mahomes.

He aint tearing up the league i don't see what there is to revisit

The OP did say he was quietly resurrecting his career in Indy, he didn't say he was tearing up the league. One note though, Moss is top 10 in the NFL in rushing yards so far.

I havent seen the Colts or Moss so cant tell about the scheme or his running style. Perhaps it is a combination of - him being motivated due to being booted off his first team, scheme, number of carries. On the Bills, he didnt look very motivated after the first season during which he looked like a hard runner and the type we eventually got with Harris and Murray.

    For one reason

On a related note, I see that Singletary on the Texans has these stats

    4-14-3.5

    7-15-2.1

These are pretty poor so I looked up if he is injured but I cant find any such reports. Why is he being underutilized?

He’s an average rb. They have better on their roster.

So, now when we know that Bernard might actually be a good player, isn't it time to start bashing Beane for drafting Dorian Williams? Why did we need him, when we already have two Pro-bowl LBs? :)

I'm glad you brought this up, because I think he's going to be a good pick too. The Beane bashing is ridiculous.

Things don't seem a whole lot different from 2nd half of 2022, except Josh's arm is back to where it needs to be.

Almost every wrinkle play fails. Sweeps, WR screens, they all seem very telegraphed. Whoever is their self-scout staff needs some turnover if they can't sort that out.

If Allen doesn't deliver pinpoint passes and/or Houdini acts, it would seem to be in trouble.

I think that’s what qbs are supposed to do. Deliver pinpoint passes. No?
