  1. Really? I think your taking about the mud lot and not Hammers Lot which I dumped $5,000 worth of fill/grading 2 years ago. For the Cowboys game there will be a appearance by the Red Zone Cheer and Dance Squad. From 9-11am I have lined up a former Buffalo Bill to make an appearance (pictures/autographs). You never know what might happen (Weather channel broadcasted live for a couple of hours the Texans game interviewing a lot of different tailgaters) in Hammers Lot.

Its not as crazy as the opener (TBDAHOT) party. Like what Mead said 9:30-10:15 should be fine for arrivial.

    Concentrate and ask again.

  2.

GMs miss on QBs all the time. Whaley even traded DOWN when he (and Buddy) was picking EJ.

Ozzie Newsome started building a defense and missed big time on his first QB, Kyle Boller, before getting it right a few years later.

Let the guy develop in the role. imo

This is spot on. As long as Brandon is totally out of the equation, I don't think there is any question that Whaley is going to be a solid GM. My god he is just getting started. If we keep living in this keep changing everything every two years cycle we will never get anywhere. Part of the reason I wanted to keep Schwartz.

  3. We can agree to disagree. Green Bay is a family atmosphere. It's rated PG. You could absolutely bring your young children to any tailgate and into the game, no problem. Buffalo has that Oakland/Philly riff raff element. It is rated R. If you follow deadspin, you might even argue that it is rated NC-17. Kansas City, at least I find, is directly in between Green Bay and Buffalo. It's got more of an adult edge than Green Bay but by and large, you don't have to deal with the absolute trash that comprises a good 10% of fans at Bills games (I'm sure we have all seen early 20's guy with no formal education, chinstrap beard, wearing old McGahee s****y era jersey that he has taped over the "Gahee" and replaced with "Drunk," funneling beers, puking and hurling homophobic slurs at fans of opposing teams). Kansas City is rated PG-13. It's a perfect mix. All three offer passionate, semi-knowledgeable fans, excess alcohol intake and professional grilling. But I'm sorry, I am as big a Bills fan as anyone but if you were a fan of an opposing team and wore an opposing team's jersey walking through the main lot at 12:30 PM on the way into the game, you would probably dock Bills fans a few points. Conversely, I have worn Bills jerseys to Chiefs games multiple times and you don't really endure more than good-natured ribbing. I will conclude my rant by saying that per capita, as a lot, ex-pat Bills fans living in other cities represent the Bills as well as any team in the NFL and certainly better than the 70,000 people who actually attend games on Sunday. Again, general rule.

You make excellent points and considering I have never been to Buffalo as an opposing fan you are probably spot on.

  4. I loved the guy as a player and a human being, the only player I would say I put any stock into as a person. He meant nothing to the city though. I mean let's not put him up on the cross. I went to bed every night not worrying about what this city would do if Fred left. I mean, have we been swallowed by the lake yet? Part of the narrative to suggest Whaley is in trouble centers on this overstatement of Fred's value outside the white lines. If Whaley is the GM and has to report every single move to everyone above him, he should move on and find the autonomy a GM deserves.

So true. I sure as hell don't like being micromanaged.

  5. Green Bay and Kansas City are unbelievable. Both better than Buffalo. Every other stadium I have been to- Denver, Miami, Seattle and San Diego- are not nearly as intense as a game in GB, KC or Buff. HUGE drop off. Then again, there seems to be an inverse correlation with intense fanbases/tailgating and how much there is to do in your city. I was also at the Seattle game in 2004 and would anticipate a different scene when I go next year. Back in '04, every fan we met, to a man, was like, "you guys are crazy, we don't really take the Seahawks that seriously, this is a Mariners town first." I would agree with the posters who said that there is probably a pretty big bandwagon factor when it comes to their fanbase.

I would notch Buffalo right above KC. GB is tops in my book. I have been to all three many, many times.

  6. In a vacuum they should keep Whaley. Had some great draft picks. Theoretically if that continues, you never have to worry again.

However, i feel like he will be gone, barring a 10-6 playoff run. Something still stinks out of OBD. All the 'leaks' and strange things coming from OBD wasnt just a Marrone thing. We still hear little purposefully placed snippets in the media from there such as "Whaley went rogue", "Manuel may win the starting position", and even this new one about the extension. Folks will disagree but I feel like it is Brandon. In which case you would have to assume Whaley will be the one to go as Brandon is pretty much an immovable object at this point with the Sabres and Bills thing. If its Rex... he is also not going anywhere with his deal, signs like speaking at the WJC presser, etc. Whaley is on the weakest footing, unfortunately.

I truly believe that is Brandon too.

  7. Cincy was bland. Big meh, but they weren't good at the time. The stadium is odd in a disjointed kind of way. Really didn't like it at all. Cleveland is a lot like Buffalo in the game day experience respect. A lot of it has to do with how the team is doing. Stadium is good, not great. Pittsburgh's stadium is a notch above Cleveland's. Liked it. Good experience overal.

I went to a Bunguls - Bills game at the old Riverfront stadium. Not much to write home about. Fans were decent enough.
